Though I strongly suggest no one ever respond to threads started by glennsoe, Lita has been cleared to wrestle for quite some time and has only had a few (very bad) matches with people like Maria, so her deciding not to wrestle and (I'm assuming) stick with being Edge's manager is not surprising. If she leaves the company all together, oh well. We've known about Trish for some time.

Lita has always been a terrible worker, and a danger to herself and others in the ring, so this doesn't surprise me.

The company's two longest tenured female performers are expected to be gone within two months. As noted before, Trish Stratus is finishing up. Her wedding to her long-time boyfriend is set for 9/30 and her contract expires about the same time. She hasn't signed a new deal, nor is she negotiating a new deal. She's expected to leave shortly before the wedding.

 

At the very lease, she is expected to take a sabbatical and there is indication as to whether she is considering coming back at any point. In addition, Lita's (31-year old Amy Dumas) contract is expiring in the next month or two and there are said to be no negotiations going on for her to sign a new deal, even though she's hooked up in storyiline with Edge, the current WWE champion, which seems to guarantee her a spot as part of a main event act. In both cases, there is no negativity within the company as both aren't missing any shots nor making any demands, nor refusing to do anything they had already signed to do.

 

Lita is looking at getting into acting, although not necessarily on the big-time level like so many who get out of wrestling are aspiring to. She's said to have had a lot of strong money years (Stratus has had some even stronger years--in the $450,000 range) and never lived extravagantly and can go a long time with what she's saved without having any financial issues.

 

The company is not negative about either at some point returning. The vibe on Lita seems to be that there is a good chance she may return at some point down the line, but she's expected to be gone for a fairly substantial period of time.

I'm gonna miss Lita. Her and Edge have really good chemistry together and she's done a lot to help him get over as a top heel. Some seem to think you can throw any chick with a wrestler but it doesn't work that way. You have to be able to click together.

I think a lot of people are too hard on Lita. Her personal life isn't really anyone's business, and I'm sure she's done nothing worse than a lot of people in the wrestling biz. Personally, I think she makes a pretty good valet/manager for Edge. I think if she leaves, Edge is going to have to pick up a new piece of arm candy.

Lita leaving a bit surprising. I never expected her to do more than manage again, but leaving completely is interesting. It'll be good for Edge, who is ready to go alone. Lita did actually do a lot for Edge in terms of making him a top heel, just not intentionally. And most of her on-camera work has been neither here nor there for Edge. Edge has more than enough character to stay over on his own. Another interesting thing they could do if they want to keep up the "Rated R Superstar" bit is have him pick up a couple diva search skanks right after he dumps Lita, or have a new girl in each city they visit.

Trish has done pretty much everything you can do in the company, and she never resorted to doing the obligatory Playboy shoot, so good for her in that she's getting out now. Stop while you're ahead.

 

I have absolutely no idea how Lita thinks she can get into an acting career unless she actually is going to porn. We're all joking about it, but seriously, what are her other options?

 

So, with these two on the way out, who does that leave as the longest tenured woman on the roster? Lilian Garcia? If you're going by in-ring performers, I think it would be Torrie Wilson, right?

I agree this is probably the right time for Trish to leave. She's basically the greatest female wrestler in WWE/WWF history (other than the Fabulous Moolah). Better to go out now, than before Vince got tired of her and started putting her in embarassing angles (like with Molly Holly). That said, I hope she puts over someone like Mickie James one final time before she leaves. I think it's going to be Mickie's division to carry for a while, since neither Torrie or Candice have the in-ring talent, and Victoria is starting to be seen as "the older veteran" of the division.

 

As far as Lita, it said she was looking for minor acting roles. Maybe she can do some indy films or something. There's gotta be some wrestling fanboy movie producer somewhere that will cast her in some bit role.
