Guest messiahtype Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 there's a lot of wm matches that never get pimped. In my opinion, the one that stands out the most is hhh/jericho wm 18. maybe because it went on after hogan/rock, people didnt like the fact that y2j was an afterthought and the feud/push telegraphed the winner, or because jericho's long awaited main event push would be ended prematurely. as i watched it in 02 , i thought it was an excellent, and i still do today. great psychology by both men. jericho followed the backstory by attacking the injured leg. while hhh hit a ddt on a chair before hitting the pedigree. which obviously targets the same area. incredible selling as well
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 To me it seems like HBK Vs. Angle doesn't get the WM praise I think it deverses. Amazing emotion in the match.
Guest Oblivious Heel Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Hart Foundation w/ Danny Davis Vs The British Bulldogs w/ Tito Santana at Wrestlemania III is over looked due to the two legendary matches on the card.
foleyfanforever88 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Angle/HBK is one of my favorites of all time. Doesn't hurt that they are 2 of my 3 favorite wrestlers ever.
Taker666 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 To me, its Undertaker Vs Flair at WMX8, sure when the topic comes up the match is phrased, but its not that big talked about match that it should be. the match was incredible. and it was also the best feud leading to WrestleMania that year aswell. Fuck Rock/Hogan. Undertaker vs Flair was WrestleManiaX8's match of the night IMO.

Fuck Rock/Hogan. Undertaker vs Flair was WrestleManiaX8's match of the night IMO. I was at WMX8 live and nothing will ever beat the emotion felt during Hogan Vs. Rock. It was just unexplainble. Flair/Taker was overlooked though, I went apeshit when Arn Anderson came out and gave Taker the SPINEBUSTA~!
Gert T Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Agreed that Undertaker-Flair was a great match. I think Macho-Flair is somewhat underrated in the grand scheme because it didn't go on last and the finish was slightly out of nowhere, but still a great match, made better by the desparate actions of Perfect and desperate words of Heenan.
snuffbox Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Rockers vs. Twin Towers (WM5) and Haku/Barbarian (WM7).
The Buzz Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 One of my favorite matches of all time. Rowdy Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship. I was very disappointed when it wasn't on Bret's dvd.
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Brainbusters vs. Strike Force from Wrestlemania V. I don't consider matches like Angle/HBK, Bret/Piper & Flair/Savage underrated. Those are great matches and generally considered to be such.
SamoaRowe Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I agree with Taker/Flair. I think people have forgotten Evolution vs. Rock and Sock from WMXX. As far as pure fun goes, there is few greater than that match, especially the Rock/Flair spots. I also really enjoyed Benoit/JBL from this year's Wrestlemania. It wasn't a classic or anything, but I felt like it went unappreciated.

Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 How about the Fatal 4 Way main event at Wrestlemania 2000??? I thought it was pretty good myself, and The Rock worked his ass off.
CanadianGuitarist Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Oblivious heel had a really good one with the six man tag from WM3. My first instinct, as well, was Evolution vs. Rock and Sock at WM 20. But I'll also defend Rock/Shamrock from 14 as a close second.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 The Undertaker Vs Flair was an awesome, brutal brawl. Double A's Spinebuster out of nowhere was fucking balls nasty. There were some cool spots, and some sick chairshots in that match. And Flair getting the pipe from Taker's bike was genious. Evolution vs. Rock and Sock was everything people wanted from it. The times that Flair and The Rock were in the ring together were classic moments. It's one of those matches that makes you go into mark mode and be a kid again.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 But I'll also defend Rock/Shamrock from 14 as a close second. AH I can't believe I forgot about that one. That was classic heel Rock, when he was getting stretcher'd out and still was able to raise his title after he retained it like he won, causing Shamrock to go insane, I also liked X-Pac Vs. Shane O-Mac from WM15, and Shane Vs. Vince at WM17.
BorneAgain Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 NOD vs. Ahmed/Road Warriors from 13 was a fun brawl and in my opinion was the second best match on the card. (Not that there was much competition mind you.)
JustJoe2k5 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Shawn Michaels vs. Tatanka from WrestleMania 9. Didn't like the finish, but the match itself was entertaining.
CanadianGuitarist Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 NOD vs. Ahmed/Road Warriors from 13 was a fun brawl and in my opinion was the second best match on the card. (Not that there was much competition mind you.) I'd considered that. But it got more pre-show hype than Austin-Hart, for fuck's sakes. I thought it was exempt. Clarence Mason giving the business to a fan as he walks the NOD to the ring makes the match watchable. I just threw in WM18 to re-see Undertake Flair again.
CanadianGuitarist Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Double post. But the crowd POPPED when AA spinebustered Taker.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I think people have forgotten Evolution vs. Rock and Sock from WMXX. As far as pure fun goes, there is few greater than that match, especially the Rock/Flair spots. If you recorded the live event...listen closely at one of the spots where Flair is grabbing Rock's leg and keeping him contained. You can hear him yell out: "HA! I don't think so mother fucker!"

The times that Flair and The Rock were in the ring together were classic moments. It's one of those matches that makes you go into mark mode and be a kid again. More: John Cena Vs. Triple H gets alot of hate. I personally loved the match. Everthing clicked, and it's one of Cena's best matches. The crowd is so into it the entire match, it makes the match that much better. Tons of good chants throughout this one. Hell, Even JR and The King were good here. the only thing I didn't like, was there was no reason for Cena to use the safe version of the STFU, the one he used wasn't the worst, but it's looked better. Rey Mysterio Vs. Matt Hardy (Cruiser Weight Championship) This was a hot opener, and a good match. Hardy was fucking over as a heel with his V1 gimmick taking off, and Rey was dressed like The Flash. Solid match from start to finish. The Twist of Fate off the top was sick as fuck. Team Angle Vs. Guerreros & Benoit/Rhyno (Tag Team Championship) I just liked this one. I never hear it get any love, but I thought it was damn good. Everybody in the match was on. They didn't get enough time, but for what they had, these guys pulled off a good match.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Angle Vs. Benoit Vs. Jericho, WM2000 Great match, one of my personal favorites.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 That's on the Best of 2000 tape WWF put out back then. It's got 5 excellent fucking matches on it.
Vampiro69 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Have to agree that the Evolution vs Rock/Mankind match deserves to be talked about more. Wrestlemania 14 also had the NAO vs Chainsaw Charlie/Cactus Jack dumpster match, which was great for its time.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Kane Vs. The Undertaker, WM14 was pretty tight. Believe it or not, Marc Mero & Sable Vs. Goldust & Luna was a pretty good match also that card. I remember it being a really fun match.
Timmy8271 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Jericho/Christian WMXX. I loved this match and the ending with trish turning heel. They screwed up the Trish/Christian partnership big. Jake Roberts/Rick Rude WMIV. Probably the best match to come out of that horrible WM. Barbarian/Tito from WMVI. Good squash match.
DangerousDamon Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 I was at WMX8 live and nothing will ever beat the emotion felt during Hogan Vs. Rock. It was just unexplainble. Flair/Taker was overlooked though, I went apeshit when Arn Anderson came out and gave Taker the SPINEBUSTA~! That's probably the greatest spinebuster of all time.
