Last night when Jeff Hardy returned reminded me of this fiasco. For anyone who doesn't know (although clearly the majority of you will remember) Willie the Worker was a "guest columnist" on 1wrestling who appeared after Wrestlemania XIX, writing a few articles complaining about his lack of use on the card and WWE's product in general. I was searching through the archives here and then looked on Google but didn't find much. Did we ever figure out who it was? I remember the prime suspects were RVD and the aforementioned Hardy. Another name that was thrown around was Christian.

Actually I think most people in the end thought it was a fake letter written by someone who didnt like the WWE booking. Thats what I remember. Before that most people thought it was RVD though. I tend to think that he would have been fired instantly for that kind of behaviour though (as would almost anyone).

I'm thinking it was Gregory Helms.

Look at the "clues" he gave us to his identity in his articles. It was someone the size of a cruiserweight, someone active in the internet community, someone who was selling a lot of merchandise, and he wasn't Jeff Hardy.

In one of the articles he made a comment about how he was moving more merchandise than almost any of the other 'bigger sized wrestlers' who were getting pushed ahead of him. I did a quick check of WWE Shopzone after reading it, and sure enough the Hurricane mask was the #2 selling item at the time.

Well, the person was bitching about being left off the WM19 card, so the top candidates were The Hurricane (this was less than a month after The Rock put him over on Raw), Rob Van Dam, Christian, Jeff Hardy, and Lance Storm.

The thing was he said he had "been with the company for several years," and the only ones who fit that bill were Hardy and Christian.

Could have been referring to the fact that he had also been in the now WWE owned WCW for a few years?

I thought it was The Scotsman, and he did it to fool Scherer or someone.

What was the deal with Willie The Worker? Was it really you or was that just a prank? If so, it was a good one.

Willie the Worker was Rob Van Dam. My close associate Detective Hamrick apparently hacked his mailbox and discovered this. When the information started getting about, for the sake of RVD's career, 1wrestling claimed that the whole thing was a scam and that they were fooled. The column I wrote as Willie the Worker was just a joke column, to fuel the fire. Actually, the main purpose was to get it on 411, and have it look like 411/me had fooled 1wrestling. Widro sadly wouldn't go for this, so I just threw it up on my site.

No...he gave up his site, and became a professional poker player (seriously). At least that's what he said on the internet right before he basically disappeared.

At least Scotsman knew to quit. Even though it was way too late.

For some reason I don't really buy RVD being Willie the Worker. During that 2003-04 period RVD would go on various radio shows and give interviews, and he would flat out be honest about feeling misused. He'd badmouth HHH openly as well. It doesn't seem his style to use an alias and write a bunch of columns.

He posts over at the SA forums if it's the same guy. He's hella good too at poker.
