DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 "This season, Todd Grisham has returned to defend his Season 7 WWE Superstar League Championship. However, some of his biggest competition is also back and a newcomer has burst onto the scene as well: Scorpion from Mortal Kombat!" Ok then.... I don't know why I'm doing this, but some possibly helpful hints for week 1: - Despite being taped two days ago and the results being on the net, the ECW show for this Tuesday counts (unless I've messed something up - Fantasy says the ECW show on the 10th is from the same location as Raw on the 9th). - Strip poker is getting specialty points and will probably rank up numerous appearance points for people that cost next to nothing. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 oh crap got to pick a team before monday. damn, any early matches announced for raw? but wait if ecw was taped already then it doesnt count for fantasy? wait was it taped? anyhow is Kane vs Umaga a specialty match due to the loser leaves raw stip? I would think Umaga is winning here, right? might want to pick him I guess lol danny doring actually has his correct finishers listed as if hell ever get a chance to use them
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 The ECW thing is confusing. It was once said there would an ECW taping after the 3 hour Raw and an ECW taping the night after to air the next week (I thought) because of the supershow. They now have one show in the can, taped Tuesday night. They are apparently taping another Monday, and ANOTHER Tuesday. This is all very strange. Kelly said on WWE.com that it was happening in her hometown of Jacksonville, which is where the taping they are doing this Tuesday is. The Fantasy schedule has the October 10th ECW show as being of Columbia, SC, which is where Raw is on Monday. Either the Fantasy board (and by proxy, WWE.com) are confused about the ECW airdates vs tape dates - and I don't blame them because I am now as well - or what they taped on Tuesday was filler for the crowd, never meant to air. There were only 3 matches and none under extreme rules, which I just assumed meant they were giving a lot of time to the strip poker skits that weren't shown to the audience, but now I don't know . And no, matches where the loser leaves Raw / is fired / whatever do not count as specialty. Baiscally, unusual stipulations that occur based on who wins or loses a match (or who was the ref during a match, since that question comes up too) while a match is found under standard rules cause it to be scored as a standard match. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 In theory. I e-mailed the Fantasy Board to ask why they are allowing this, then e-mailed Meltzer asking what the hell is going on with the taping schedule (due to the Fantasy listing of the 10/10 ECW show being taped on 10/9). Edit: From Meltzer - "No taping on Monday. Originally planned, but they added the taping this past Monday and canceled taping in Columbia" So, the Fantasy schedule is messed up and using old information. Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2006 I recommand picking ECW and Smackdown guys this week. Since they'll be ECW and Smackdown guys on Raw, they'll most likely be making two apperances and hopefully having a match on each show. Also I suggest picking a couple of the girls in the strip poker game.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 I got burned by no Carlito appearances (that money could have easily picked me someone who appeared on Raw AND may be on SmackDown) but otherwise I think I'll do ok this wek. You guys that didn't pick all 6 women doing the strip poker... why? I forget the total but it adds up to such a low dollar amount for 6 people, and they all get specialty match + match + multiple appearance points.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Yeah, i had Carlito too.. Cena might have picked me up a few points though. Did he pick up the win by DQ?
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Typical fantasy board response to that kind of match ending with no announcement is a no contest - no win points for Cena, no DQ points for Undertaker.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 Well, whichever season had the biggest turnout, we had at least 5-10 teams that weren't making picks, or made picks once and then left their team unchanged. So far we only have one, and they may have just forgot (apparently everyone but Grisham in the WWE league forgot about it starting as well).
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 man I screwed up, I originally had show on my team too CRAP. plus I picked ariel thinking she was in the poker game, forgetting about the ecw spoilers. oh well kelly and ash got me good points for cheap. hope booker and kennedy have a good sd (no i dont read the spoilers)
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 It would have been nice if I had Batista but it's difficult to see in advance that a $5M roster pick will win a match on Raw and compete in a specialty match on SmackDown, but at least I have Finlay. Biggest bomb I have this week would be the no points scoring Carlito, who I swapped in for Jeff Hardy (who I could have made 12 points out of). Had I known Benoit was due back this week I probably would have spent the 3.5 on him, but I don't like making randomly picking on the shelf wrestlers hoping it's their big week to come back. TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 Okay, thankyou. I've picked my team for next week based on this weeks events and spoilers. I've taken Carlito out because he fucked me over on Monday. I've brought in Edge because they are bound to get one up on DX (hold breath.) and dropped Cena because he had a good week this week, odds are one of the other champions will have a good week next. I've taken out the little bastard because even though he's only 500,000, I didnt realise an apperance got you so little, and since he doesn't do anything apart from, well, appear, I used it elsewhere. CM Punk i've realised is a banker.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 Little Bastard is good if you only have 500,000 left. Once in a while he'll get you some points. I remember 1 SD during the last fantasy period where he scored something like 7 foreign object shots.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2006 Sorry, I forgot to join the league. Just signed up. Using "Todd Grisham's a tool!" as my team this year. I'm in 18th place this time. Carlito really didn't help me, I'm very surprised he wasn't used. Little Bastard is sorta a hit or miss kinda guy. He's good for a few points here and there, but sometimes he'll rack up a lot. Sandman is sorta the same way.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Fantasy is so stupid this year. They used to go out of their way to seat early deadlines to avoid spoiler cheating, but now they count ECW shows that are taped a week in advance. On top of that, the current deadline for rosters for week 2 is still Monday by 7pm - Raw/SD are being taped on Sunday. So you can either read spoilers and cheat or not read spoilers, enjoy the shows as they happen, and lose badly. Edit: They caught their mistake, at least for Raw/SD. "Due to SmackDown and RAW being held on Sunday, Oct. 15, rosters for Week 2 will lock on SUNDAY, OCT. 15 at 7 p.m. ET. Be sure to make your picks a day early!"
