Mecca 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 He said he doesn't find the Chappelle show funny...........maybe you well lack a sense of humor in general. The only people I've ever met that didn't think that show was funny came off like they had a giant stick up their ass and didn't think anything was funny. I don't personally know you but saying Chappelle isn't funny means your sense of humor must be kind of well.......different than 99% of people.

AmazingRen 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 As a black man I would be a hypocrite if I was offended because I liked the Eddie/Chavo Lie,Cheat,Steal gimmick, Mexicools, LAX, and other stereotype gimmicks that had to do with other races. Plus it's not like there the only black guys in WWE. Shelton, Henry, Lashley, and Booker T doesn't have a gimmick even close to what the Cryme Time gimmick is. That's excatly my point, it's not they are trying to say all African-Americans are like Cryme Time.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Personally, I found Cryme Tyme both humerous and entertaining. From my perspective, the outlandish, outrageous stunts that they pulled last night and will continue to pull in weeks to come will ready themselves for tag team action on RAW. The Saturday Night Live-like humor which Cryme Tyme displayed entertained me, and I can only hope and imagine that it entertained audiences of all ethnic derivations. Guest JustPassinBy Report post Posted September 6, 2006 The comedy stuff kills it. They'd be 100x better off being serious gangbangers because even if one of them (from what I hear) can't wrestle for shit. Then I don't think I would have anything negative to say about them facing the Spirit Squad. People never really took New Jack as a serious gimmick, he was more of the fun babyface type. Disagree. I think people were legitmately scared of New Jack, and respected his persona. Maybe it was more bc of his awesome spots and not his character, but still I think his character helped get him over. No one laughed at New Jack. He was one of the most serious characters in ECW.

No one laughed at New Jack. He was one of the most serious characters in ECW. There was nothing serious about New Jack, he was a fun babyface type, who was great for opening up a show. He was feared because he would fucking do some of the most vicious stuff in the ring. One of the most serious characters in ECW? Please. Even go back to SMW, when the gimmick of the Gangstaz(New Jack and Mustafa) 1st started, with the whole "Affirmative Action" shit, and them using Fried Chicken and watermellons as forgien objects. And people say Cryme Time is a big time sterotype.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 All I want is for them to run into Vince, he say something whacky and they look at him and say "nigga please".
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 One of them already dropped the n-bomb... I just can't wait until Vince orders them to attack DX. I loved Da Beast in OVW... I just liked how his character was the Head Nigga In Charge... it was great to see this big black talk about how hard he was, then see him later on in the show he'd tapping out to CM Punk in about 5 minutes. This will get over quickly, Vince will likely want to get involved with it... and so will Triple H.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 I can see Da Beast now with Shane asking him to help out his dad. "Me sell out to the man? For how much?" I'm telling you, Gaspard is a guy I thought was interesting in OVW even when he was being jobbed out to everyone and wasn't even getting the resemblance of a push. I wish they had put Cryme Tyme on ECW though, so I could hear "CM Whiteboy" just one more time.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Maybe it's because I can't stand modern rap. Maybe it's because I think the skit was too fucking long (like 3rd season MadTV too long). Maybe it's because I can't relate to the gimmick in the least since I work for a living and don't attack people to get a few bucks while they're doing their job. Or maybe it's because the delivery absolutely sucked in that it was at times straightforward and at other times slapstick/tongue-in-cheek. Yeah...or maybe it's because I'm a racist. God is white. White power. Nope...it's because the gimmick fucking sucks. How you can compare this with The Truth's gimmick is beyond me. The Truth wasn't about being a thug or rolling down the street, smoking indo, and sipping on gin and juice. The Truth was a gimmick that had a racial overtone and an "old guard vs. young blood" undertone. THAT'S why The Truth caught on after only two promo's in TNA before being given the World title. It was more than a one-note joke. It wasn't a JOKE: it was Ron Killings venting his actual frustration. Cena caught on because he was funny. He played it straight as if he felt he was a thug from the old-school, when it was incredibly apparent that he was just a white boy from Boston (that's not to say that there aren't slums in Boston - there are aplenty, especially Jamaica Plan where I have the unfortunate burden of travelling to from time-to-time to see a few of my girlfriend's closest friends who own an apartment there, but I digress - but Boston is always looked at as some posh city) trying to make himself seem bigger. He caught on because it was a joke that everybody was into, and it wasn't for nearly a full year before the writers turned the joke into a serious run. CrymeTyme? Horrible name, from what I hear lame-as-fuck wrestlers, and a one-note joke. One-note jokes go on for so long - "THAT'S THE TICKET!" - but get tired very quickly. Especially in McMahonland, where anything that works even minutely is oversaturated to the point where it stops working.

Anyway, I'm prepared to give it time. There's nothing wrong with having a few goofy gimmicks on the undercard, especially in the tag team division. What worries me is how far they can take it before running out of material. It just seems like a gimmick someone thought up on the spot while stuck in an airport lobby. Maybe in LAX, if you catch my drift.
Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Greatness. They are only missing two things New Jack and A black man's best friend Spring Thomas If those two were in Cryme Tyme, it would be the greatest stable ever.

k thx 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 The most important thing for a gimmick is if the wrestlers can pull it off and look like they're having fun with it. With Eddie, he looked more suited to the Lie Cheat Steal gimmick than the Latino Heat gimmick, and it showed. AAE and Umaga are suited well to their gimmicks and it shows. It looks as though Gospard and Neighborhoodie are having fun with the gimmicks and can pull them off well, so they have a good chance of getting over with them. And just as importantly, if they get over and go for singles pushes, it can easily move into a ME gimmick for one of them.
Guest Godlike Report post Posted September 6, 2006 I think they'll get over if it doesn't descend into a parody of the gangsta thing, as happened to Cena. Hasn't WWE lost all touch with reality, though? New Jack and Ron Killings were believable exactly because you didn't see them committing crimes, you just took them to be hard and have a serious "rep". Having Cryme Tyme do robberies in promos is totally stupid. But maybe they'll inject some heat into the lifeless tag-team scene...
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Itd be funny if after Cena wins the title, he comes on RAW and hes wrestling someone, and Chryme Tyme runs down and steals the spinner off his belt. Ok...maybe not but it was a funny thought in my head. Other stealable stuff: Torrie's dog Eugene's jacket (right off his back?) One of Carlito's apples Or..how about the lights go out for like 30 seconds and the ring is stripped of all the aprons and steps and everything..

Anyone's Bike so they can be a tag team version of repo man? anyhow I digress, Wrestling has always been a breeding ground for racial and stereotype personas, plu smany tasteless angles (Katie Vick anyone?) either this will catch on or be forgotten about and have them as jobbers on heat for the rest of their stay hey if the highlanders can sorta ctach on and perhaps even win the tag titles (which is a rel possiblity with the SSS set to break up), why not Cryme Time? (if their theme is a ripoff of Elix Skippers wcw "primetime" theme-which in fact was a DMX song ripoff- it would be cool) Cryme Time Baby, Cryme Time man I suck
