Scroby 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Keller: Jerry Lawler is hosting the Hall of Fame, as announced on Raw tonight, because Jim Ross has been moved into the play-by-play slot for the Raw matches at WrestleMania. Joey Styles was informed of the news earlier today. As of two days ago, Ross was telling people he was awaiting word on his role at WM weekend, but he assumed it was the Hall of Fame banquet. The news is a blow to Styles, but given Ross's history with the company and his stature as an announcer, it's not necessarily the dishonor it could be otherwise. Soooo Coach shouldn't be annoucing either than right? It should just be Ross and King for the show if WWE is going to go down that route. Anyways this will be a good reason for Joey Styles to start sneaking in more WWE jokes while doing play by play.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Can they go about getting Cole out of the show as well? This is the second time Ross took someone else's seat at Mania after being away for a bit of time.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 no Styles? Hmph. I was thinking about actually ordering WM again this year, but that plus the price not being $35 after all means I'll just wait for the DVD

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Am I the only one who thinks John Cena appearing on "Nashville star" or whatever the hell it's called is going to hurt his gimmick a little bit? Appearing on Nashville Star, helps John Cena more then it helps Nashville Star. You expect John Cena, to appear on the Bassment? (BET) I'm sure that Triple H gets to go on Regis to put himself over, TBS should be on Conan this week (and every week for that matter).

The news is a blow to Styles, but given Ross's history with the company and his stature as an announcer, it's not necessarily the dishonor it could be otherwise. That is ridiculous. Styles should find some way to get out of his contract as quickly as possible. They continue to degrade him, whether it's taking him out of the announcing job at WrestleMania, announcing job at Saturday Night's Main Event, or ripping him apart for his broadcasting as soon as he steps through the curtains. He's supposed to be the RAW PLAY-BY-PLAY ANNOUNCER, and it makes him look more and more insignificant every time they replace him with Ross. They've damaged his credibility tremendously since he started in October.
JimmyHendricks 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Well, Vince has neutered him since he started. I actually prefer J.R. over the current, WWE Joey Styles. It's a shame because he could really be something refreshing to the product, and he's been turned into Generic Pro Wrestling Commentator #4534.
Guest Dam(o)nYankees Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Oh thank God. Its probably Vince's fault. In fact, I'm almost sure of it. But Styles has sucked. Really hard. There's no reason to try make every match in to some kind of epic. When Carlito and Kane are having a shitty match at the top of the hour (which they've done at least five times this year) You don't have to treat it like some mythic battle. Its a fucking shitty match in the opener of Raw. Ranting and raving like its an all time great makes Styles look like the biggest dork on earth and hurts the aura of actual epic matches. Why did WWE hire Joey Styles in the first place? Honestly, if they are just going to continue to replace him with Jim Ross everytime they feel like it then why the hell didn't they just bring Ross back to begin with? It's a fucking shame they cut the balls off Joey when he did such a good job at Taboo Tuesday. Also, how does Coach manage to keep his spot on the announce team? The guy brings nothing to the table. Actually, you could say the same for Micheal Cole. As Hawk 34 pointed out, the guy hasn't improved in seven years.

I actually think Coach and Lawler are a reason why Styles isn't being as good as he can be. Every Raw its like the two the them talk around Styles and Coach cuts Joey off every chance the Coach gets. Tonight it happen a few times and you could easily tell. I also think another problem is that Joey wants to call the wrestling match and doesn't care to talk about what just happen in the last segment or something that happen half an hour ago. Take the woman's tag match tonight. When Torrie and Candice went out to the floor for the catfight, they said it was happening when the camera was on the two girls and when the camera went back to the ring, Styles started calling the match while Coach and King (go figure) were talking about the cat fight that was happening on the floor that was now off camera. I sware if the annouce team was just King and Joey things would be fine.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 I imagine someone is telling Coach in his headset to shut Joey up whenever they feel something is about to come on. It's a shame about Joey, I never cared for him in ECW, thought he sucked at first when he came to the WWE, I've warmed up to him over the past couple of months and now they're possibly dumping him...ah well, life goes on...if anything, at least drop Cole and get him on Smackdown, or does he have legit beef with Taz? bradolson 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Seating capacity would change for an event like this. You'd add thousands of seats on the floor, but I'd imagine if they were afraid of not selling it out, they'd have a huge entrance set up that could take away 10,000+ seats if they wanted to. haVoc 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 NBC afilliate WPTV Channel 5 in Florida is reporting that Vince McMahon is off the hook in the alleged incident that took place in a Boca Raton, Florida tanning salon in January. The State Attorney's office determined there was not enough sufficient evidence in order to charge McMahon with any crime. A woman had claimed that Vince McMahon showed her nude photos of himself and then groped her at the salon. Credit: 411Mania Damnit.
