Bynum's in the lineup for the third game in a row and made two errors in the first inning.

Dusty doing his part in the drive for 100!

Make it three errors for Bynum. And it's only the second inning.

Abreu is up again with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Jeter is 0-0 with 3 walks and a hbp.

Matsui goes 4-4, Abreu gets 7 RBIs and Moose takes a shutout into the 7th. Not a bad way to introduce Phillip Hughes and Tyler Clippard to the Bronx, but this game won't be complete without a Scott Proctor appearance.

Hmm..looks like Jeter kept the streak alive by not having any official plate appearances..interesting..

In baseball, a hitting streak refers to the consecutive number of official games in which a player gets at least one base hit. Games in which a player does not have any official at bats due to walks, or sacrifice bunts, or being hit by a pitch, are ignored (neither break the streak nor add to the streak). However, if a player has a sacrifice fly, then the game is not ignored, and he must get a hit or his streak is over.

Mets/Marlins playing once more after an eighty-two minute rain delay. This after a rain delay that postponed the start of the game forty-six minutes. This thing won't be over 'til way past midnight, and I doubt there'll be more than a couple thousand fans left in the stadium at that point.

Hughes was called up?!?

What?!

Maybe he is just up with the team to get a sense of winning. Yankees do it every year with their top rookies.

Yeah, he's not active, but he's with the team, along with Clippard and Brent Cox. I think between that and Matsui coming back the D-Rays are lucky they're only down 12-0

I'm surprised if there's ever more than a couple thousand fans at that stadium.

By the way, I'm surprised there's little mention of the San Diego/Cincinnati series this week. The Reds can pull to a half game back with a sweep. If they lose two of three though, it's all but over.

Well, if we wanna get technical about it, the attendance for Sanchez' no hitter was apprxoimately 12,000. I think it's fair to say that's about average, even if it is announced attendance and doesn't really tell you how many fans actually showed up.

It's paid attendance, including season tickets and all. Really, that's pretty sad in itself. Consider that the Sacramento Rivercats of the PCL drew an average of about 10,250 this season.

Pujols-3, Brad Lidge-9.

Pujols has three game winning hits against Lidge with 2 regular season hits and one postseason hit. Those are his only three hits against Lidge. :(

Al, what's the record for most errors in a nine-inning game? The Cubs now have six on the night and probably should have seven.

They were down 7-0, but came back to make it 8-7 in the 8th. But two errors between Izturis and Lee put runners at the corners with one out. And then on a grounder that usually would've been two couldn't be picked by Lee.

Ugly.

It's a good thing that I have graduation from college this December and my teaching of English 1300 to college freshman to occupy alot of my time these last few months/weeks of the baseball season or I might be a very, very sad person. Ah well, I still think even if the 'Stros don't get to the Postseason this year, they're gonna have a Hell of a team in 2007...Hey, Clemens might be back. And Lidge might be gone! Sorry, Brad...

Does anyone know if september call-ups are allowed to travel with the team during the postseason?

Liriano is back tomorrow, and the Twins go for the sweep against Oakland.
