I thought the newest episode was pretty solid but wasn't overly funny. Then again, I thought Email Surveillance and The Coup were overlooked whereas the popular Grief Counselling and The Dundies were low-end stuff, so who knows. She was there not for the reason everyone thought she was (to disciple Michael for sending out the photo) but to explain to Michael how she feels and all. It was almost a word for word copy of the first BBC episode and didn't fit as well Well the Pilot was written by Ricky and Stephen. I think they did that on purpose. But I like the American one better. Okay...this isn't true. The pilot was written by Greg Daniels who just pieced together moments from the British version without rhyme or reason. The only reason Gervais and Merchant are credited is because they took stuff that was written in context YEARS earlier and threw it against the fucking wall. The only episode that Gervais and Merchant have actually written was "The Convict" from this season. Educate yourself before embarassing yourself. Thank you. E-Mail Surveillance is to this day a top fiver for me. Just seeing everybody interact outside the office, Pam and Jim hanging in Jims room and duet at the end seal it for me. Why the heck would Jan come all the way down there and give a speech as to why he's the wrong guy if she didn't see the E-mail? Why else mention the 'self-destructive' part of things if she doesn't know about the amazingly destructive thing he just did? I think she came down there, and basically what she was saying was "I know what you did, you're a moron, but for whatever reason I still love you". What should we expect from this most inspired of pairings - long master shots through the entire office, sequences done entirely in silence and lots of Pam's feet? Probably not, but I bet we're in for at least one guaranteed heartbreaker of a moment between Pam and Jim. Whedon's awfully good at bringing the funny and the waterworks, but so long as he's not actually writing the episode, I feel relatively safe. I wouldn't want anyone to die on us. Well it says "written by Gervais and Merchant" so I figured they wrote it. Since they got credit for it, they did write it. That's the way it works. Both him and Michael actually look pretty competent in this episode (Michael would have made that sale if not for Andy). - Jim slapping Dwight like that was great. - Andy is a bigger asshole than I originally thought.
