Guest Felonies! Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Too bad Dunn can't grow out the handlebar mustache in a few weeks time, as a long playoff run would do wonders for the handlebar mustache community as a whole. Baron Adam!
devo Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 The Washington DC forecast looks promising, as the rain should let up sometime around 4am. That works out nicely. By the time they get the field ready and play the game, Philadelphia should be able to catch an early flight to Miami and be at Pro Player by noon.
Guest NYankees Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 The Best case scenario is that the Cardinals are .5 back after Sunday and have to play on Monday and Tuesday to win their division.
Guest NYankees Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 The Twins won tonight and tie with the Tigers. The Tigers do have the tiebreaker against the Twins for the division.
Guest Felonies! Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Yeah, and the Twins rock, IIRC.
mike546 Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I'd really rather face the Tigers than Twins. I don't fear the Tigers bullpen at all, and you gotta love Kenny Rogers pitching at Yankee Stadium in NY.
Guest Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 You act as if The Giants wouldn't LOVE to keep LA out of the playoffs. You act as if the Giants are good. Those guys are just waiting for the season to be over so that they can go on vacation with their grandchildren.
Guest NYankees Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks, Anglesault. Think what you want but I am not anglesault Miss sucks 10 dicks in a row at some party. This final weekend is going to be great in terms of who is going to make it in and who is going to miss out on the playoffs.
Guest Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 The Phillies game started. 1-0 Nats, top of the 3rd. With this whole situation, the Dodgers could conceivably clinch tomorrow. Philadelphia is going to be gassed going into Miami.
Annabelle Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 lucky dodgers may get to go into shea & play the pedro-less, slumping, and deteriorating ny mets. the dodgers are looking good right now. they're so streaky that this string could go on for awhile.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I thought he was notTheDon That's right.
tominator89 Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 So, if the Phillies don't make the playoffs would their season be considered a disappointment given that earlier in the season they had no hope? Or, would the fact that they are/were so close make it a disappointment?
Guest Paul Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 In Philadelphia, it's a major disappointment.
Guest Felonies! Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I thought it was more like 14.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Based on the payroll and talent, I'd say it's a mild dissapointment, because their awful bullpen, lack of consistent starting pitching, and 2nd worst manager in baseball take precedent. "J-Roll, J-Roll, J-Roll, J-Roll!" chant in the style of "Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!" loudly at the DC ballpark. Awesome. Now "Let's Go Phillies!"
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 J-Roll comes through, 2 out single for JIM-MEE ROLLINS and THIS BALLGAME IS TIED. J-Roll, J-Roll J-Roll, J-Roll! J-Roll! J-Roll!
naiwf Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 The Mets do it for Jose Reyes and it sounds much better.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Which is a ripoff of the Yankees chant for Jorge Posada which sounds much better.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 PAT BURRELL THROWS OUT CHURCH AT THE PLATE AND THE CROWD GOES NUTS!!!!!!!!!

tominator89 Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 It would be outstanding if this game went into extra innings.
Precious Roy Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 El Duque is starting game 1 for the Mets Who are you to doubt El Duque?
naiwf Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Which is a ripoff of the Yankees chant for Jorge Posada which sounds much better. Do they at least pronounce it the proper way instead of calling him Georgie like the YES announcers have taken to for no apparent reason?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Two games back with three to go. We changed GMs, traded Bobby Abreu, make a big fuss about overhauling the team, and we're in exactly the same situation as last year. Given the way the N.L. shaped out this year, the Astros, Padres and Dodgers deserve a lot of credit for charging toward the finish line these last two weeks.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Alan, do you think it's fair to say the Phillies would probably be in the playoffs if Abreu remained on the team. Since he has great VORP.

MFer Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I'm not worried about Minny taking the Central from Detroit. The Tigers play K.C. and the Twins play the White Sox. I will take that situation any day of the week. People say Chicago's packed it in already...maybe, but they're still probably the most talented team to not make the playoffs and I'm sure Ozzie would love to exact one last measure of revenge on the Twins. Plus Garcia's going tonight against Boof...enough said.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Nah Chicago's dead in the water.
