Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Funny you mentioned that, as I was just thinking about how my mental picture (I have the radio on) still has the Hawks in red on the road. I think home teams can still wear their choice of sweater. I think teams wear white at home if it's one game between road trips. It'd be funny if everybody just wore white at home anyway and rendered the change pointless. The Maple Leafs and Red Wings should do this. EDIT: Stars tied it AGAIN with 1.14 left. I love and hate the new NHL, though the Stars seemed to score a lot then too, anyway. EDIT 2: Stars score AGAIN with 36 seconds left. Same old Blackhawks. Karmic retribution against the city of Chicago for Monday night? The Stars are who we thought they were.

They're allowed to do it when the road team brings their alternate on the road. It's at the road team's discretion.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 21, 2006 I'm glad they're getting rid of alternates after this year. Only Chicago had a decent one. Too bad that they're also getting rid of hockey sweaters that look normal.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2006 That makes sense. I remember the league wanted to cut down on the number of times road teams had to bring both jerseys when travelling. Road teams should be able to switch if they want to. Peter Forsberg looks like he'll be out a week with a sprained wrist.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Speaking of those alternate jerseys being cut down, word is the Oilers are planning on keeping the blue oil rig drop and likely using it as the home jersey (since its dark blue) with the white Oiler "old" logo as the away jersey. I'm of the thinking the oil rig drop is gonna become our new logo sooner or later.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Unless Chicago forgot to bring their white jerseys on the road, or got missed placed.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Who needs history Apparently not us. We're only a 25+ year old franchise. We don't have much history to begin with, so changing such a classic and pretty much unchangable logo is needed because we need to be "marketable". I like that one. Cyber-oil. Cyber-oil, oil rig drop, guess its the same thing in the end. I like it too, but I don't know if it should be become our new logo for the future. Then again, our ownership group doesn't do things to have them wasted, so if the league does crack down on the alternates, I do expect this to happen sooner or later. Its only a matter of if the ownership group wants to promote it as a "new energy/image" type of deal that they've been promoting with all the ads going around on television, billboards, and stuff. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Yeah, all the Oilers did was win five Stanley Cups in seven years and put together some of the most talented teams ever. WAY OF THE FUTURE. I hope Reebok tries to change the Montreal Canadiens so we can get a good riot going.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2006 Actually the cyber-oil drop's 3 tips are supposed to represent the past present and future. The past being the "lowest", the present being the longest, and the future the "highest". Each little circle is supposed to represent the 5 Stanley Cups we've won. Or at least that's the concept of the design apparently.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Reminds me of that thing the Tennessee Titans use, who used to be called the Oilers.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Whatever Bryan Murray said to the team, it must have worked. The Sens have matched their entire season's goal total at home just in tonight's game, leading the Devils 4-1.

Thirteen goals in the Bell Centre, eight at the Fleet Center, eight at the Air Canada Centre, ten at the MCI Center. HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Boston's performance was mostly abysmal, especially on defense in their own zone. They kept getting exploited individually or as a team in general by a much faster team in Buffalo. Didn't help that Hanu let in a couple easy goals. On the bright side, Kessel scored his first career goal.

On the bright side, Kessel scored his first career goal. The defense needs time to gel and the injuries and crappiness that they have on the blueline haven't allowed that to happen yet. I think once Mark Stuart comes back, he'll shore up a lot of the defensive holes that are popping up. We might also get a look at Lashoff earlier than expected. Tsn's Ice Chips also mentioned that water was wet. My god, what a game in Montreal. I was on the phone with tech support of a gambling website I go to, and twice in the six or seven minutes I was on the line, we broke out in cheers from Montreal's goals # 6, 7 and 8. It was a better game than the score represents tho. Shanny gets the only goal in the shoot-out in Hogtown. Rangers win. And Vancouver also won a thriller, scoring with 90 seconds left, then Krajcek got the winner in ot. Fuck, I love my satellite.
Guest Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Jeremy Roenick is a whopping -6. It's fitting that the worst player in the league plays for the worst team in the league. The Yotes have no redeeming qualities, whatsoever.

I thought the quotation marks on "marketable" trumped and ultimately meant sarcastic.

The Yotes have no redeeming qualities, whatsoever. Philly's actually the worst (sorry to be a dick) on points. That said, I hate Roenick far less on the Coyotes than I did in Philly. That said, here's a few teams that wouldn't make the playoffs if the season ended today: Colorado, Detroit, Ottawa, Calgary, Philly, Boston, Tampa. Just a bit of food for thought. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2006 Geezus... I even added quotation marks and people still think I'm serious about it. ...God, maybe I need to post more jokingly stuff. Apparently I must be too serious for the board. Speaking of serious, damn the Oilers haven't been playing great. We've been playing good enough to win games, but let me tell ya this is definitely not the team that was close to winning Lord Stanley. Hopefully we buckle down soon and become that team people feared during the playoffs. ..ok, so not feared, but didn't really want to drag the series out against.
