Guest Princess Leena Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Hey, someone care about the Padres.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 The Padres are the kid on the milk carton that no one wants to find
Guest Felonies! Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Hey, someone care about the Padres. Not gonna happen
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I'll have to cheer for the Padres since they're my closest team. They should save Peavy for the non-Carpenter games. Try winning those 3.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 This is pretty much going to be like last year, where the thread barely hit five pages... although we have a Cards fan here now, maybe he can fill it up
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 There's the Pujols avatar guy. And some guy named cardsfan77 or something. And Porter likes the Padres, kinda. Allez.
DerangedHermit Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Let's go Padres. I want to see a Mets/Padres NLCS. Yeah, I still have a soft spot for Piazza...
Guest Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 The Padres are going to win this series easily. I mean, Jeff fucking Weaver starting Game 3? They have a good sized fanbase, but there aren't many posters on here from that area.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I'll have to cheer for the Padres since they're my "closest" team.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 This Cards team definitely doesn't look like the same one that tore through the NL West winners in the previous two years.
devo Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Let's go Padres. I want to see a Mets/Padres NLCS. Yeah, I still have a soft spot for Piazza... Ditto. Also, Mike Cameron's pretty cool.
treble Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 There was that guy here last year, Hektik, I think, who was/is a Padres fan. Haven't seen him around much, though. Someone else was cheering for them, too.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I think the Padres will beat the Cards this year.
naiwf Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Padres in 4. Pujols hits 3 HR, the rest of the team does nothing. Looper blows at least one game.
jwest27 Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I'm not exactly feeling as confident about this series as last year. For one thing, I'm pretty sure Jake Peavy doesn't have a broken rib or whatever he had last year, so I doubt the Cards will be able to light him up like last year. For another thing, Jeff Weaver is apparently going to pitch in this series. Now he's actually hasn't been THAT bad lately, but still. Jeff Weaver.
Slayer Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Hey jwest, are you ready to carry this thread?
Bruiser Chong Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 The Pads are already ahead of the game this year, since Peavy made it through the celebration without breaking any ribs.
Dobbs 3K Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Why is everyone so down on the Padres? This will be their second post season appearance in two years. They must be doing something right (other than being in a relatively weak division).
Brett Favre Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 No ones down on them. I don't think anyone even picked them to lose.
cabbageboy Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I'll pick them to lose then. Cardinals in 5.
jwest27 Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Hey jwest, are you ready to carry this thread? Actually, I'm not even going to be able to watch most of the first two games. So yeah, this is probably not going to be a bustling thread. Well, unless Jeff Weaver throws a perfect game or something. That might create some discussion.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I'm going to use this thread to make my eerily accurate yearly baseball playoffs predictions. I have watched less than ten games the entire season, like usual, and the Cubs lost every single time, like usual. Now behold, these will be 75% correct or better: Yankees vs Tigers: THE YANKEES A's vs Twins: TWINS From the AL...the TWINS. Cards vs. Fathers: THE PADRES Mets vs. Dodgers: THE METS From the NL: THE METS And the Mets will win the world series. Sidenote: I have not watched the Cubs win a baseball game either live or on TV since I went to a game around 8 or 9 years ago and saw them beat the Brewers at Wrigley.
Guest cardsfan31 Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 my true feeling is that the cardinals dont deserve to make the playoffs. like the cardinals losing what was it 12 of their last 15. thank god we're in the central
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Hey, there's that other Cards fan. I predict SDP wins in 4.
Gert T Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 I'll be the Third Amigo for the Cardinals fans. I think St. Louis wins this series in four or five. Yeah the month of September was embarassing, and their offense has a penchant for letting Pujols do all the work and everybody else taking October off, but I think this team will compete every game, and I think Carpenter has a slight edge over Peavy.
