Not that anyone cares, but. . . .

Struggling Rolen benched for Game 4, Piazza also out

Oct. 8, 2006

CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

ST. LOUIS -- Scott Rolen was dropped from the St. Louis Cardinals' starting lineup for Game 4 of the NL playoffs against San Diego on Sunday night after hitting just .091 in the series and saying he had shoulder fatigue.

Scott Spiezio started at third base against Woody Williams. Spiezio was 0-for-1 in the first three games of the first-round playoff.

Padres manager Bruce Bochy started catcher Josh Bard over Mike Piazza, who was 0-for-8. While Bard was 0-for-4, he is an upgrade defensively.

I'm hoping the Padres win, and ultimately take this one in 5 since I have no fear of their lineup whatsoever (especially if Piazza plays), while Super Pujols could beat the Mets by himself.

If that Cubs fan has been in the tree since the Cubs were eliminated from the playoffs does that mean he's been up there since like July?

16.6% of your pathetic division hardly makes things right.

Well, another 16.6% of your division would be tolerable if it wasn't for vivalaultra.

I don't know why, but I want to hit Leena for that post. Was it the "16.6%"?

The West got 2 teams into the playoffs.

Therefore, it contained the 3rd and 4th best teams.

What did the central have. 2nd, 6th, suck, suck, 15th and 16th.

I'm not saying the Central wasn't bad; it's common knowledge they were. But the two West teams were downright embarrassing and illustrate how terrible the NL is. Two-for-32 with RISP is just ungodly bad. The Cards should've just intentionally put a man at second to lead off every inning and then they would've been ensured not to give up any runs.

My feelings are hurt. Is it wrong to be passionate? I'm Greek!

Remember what I said yesterday about celebrations that result in a team standing in a circle awkwardly high-fiving each other and random "WHOO!"s?

St. Louis is an example of that. I know it's routine for St. Louis to reach the NLCS but it's like they have that routine rehearsed. Show a little creativity and passion.

Then Alexander would fit right in. To the Padres!

Why is anyone shocked at this? Yeah the Cardinals sucked awful down the stretch but when they aren't tanking horribly they are certainly a better team than the Padres. Did anyone in the thread besides me have the Cardinals winning this series?

I'd laugh if the Cardinals somehow beat the Mets. Then we'll either get the rematch of the 1931 World Series with the A's (A's: "We've waited 75 years for this, bitches!") or a rematch of the 1934 Gashouse Gang Series with the Tigers. Also 1968 too.

I always imagined you as half-Scottish, half-Portuguese. Paolo MacDougal.
