The Yankees were simply a better team, and it's silly to fault Bobby Cox for losing those series. The Braves were 2-8 in World Series games against the Yankees. It's hard to see how better managing would have changed that. Fact is, the Braves won more playoff series than they lost, at least until the last couple years. The thing that probably got Crede the vote over A-Rod is his subpar defense. 24 errors with a fielding percentage of .937 compared to 10 errors and a .978 for Crede. No one in the AL starting at 3B had more errors and only two players in the NL did worse. Combining them, I don't see the problem of Crede over A-Rod. That would kind of piss me off if I was a Cincinnati Reds fan. Article also states that the Red Sox are interested in Gary Sheffield, and that the Yankees are now willing to pick up his option just to keep him away from their rivals. I bet it Cincy would've gotten to the postseason, he would be enjoying it more. If I were him, I'd wanna stay in the NL. In the NL, he's a certifiable #1 or #2 starter.
