Brett Favre Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Bobby Cox never did anything stupid like move A-Rod to #8, or blew a 3-0 series lead. Lets see him get one first.
bob_barron Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 He's also won the division series in three games in: 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001 NLDS. The only time Torre ever had a 3-0 LCS lead was the collapse to the Sox.
naiwf Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Enough with the catfight. Both Torre and Cox have gagged in the postseason more than enough times.
mike546 Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 In the end it comes down to rings, Joe has 4 and Cox has 1.

Guest Paul Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 or blew a 3-0 series lead. True. But I do remember an important 2-0 series lead he blew...
bob_barron Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 2-0's not nearly as bad as 3-0. But nice try. Yea, this argument is stupid, I forgot how ignorant Yankee fans can be. the Braves get smacked around by the Yankees all the time; shh. Shh? Whatever, you're stupid
Brett Favre Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Am I stupid, or is Bobby Cox stupid for losing so much to the Yankees?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Am I stupid, or is Bobby Cox stupid for losing so much to the Yankees? Neither. The Yankees were simply a better team, and it's silly to fault Bobby Cox for losing those series. The Braves were 2-8 in World Series games against the Yankees. It's hard to see how better managing would have changed that. Fact is, the Braves won more playoff series than they lost, at least until the last couple years. The new playoff format makes it nearly impossible to win a championship every year, or in any year. Every team is an 8:1 underdog right off the bat.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Big news today, as the Twins exercised the 2007 option on Torii Hunter.
2GOLD Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Crede's offensive numbers weren't as strong as A-Rod but he didn't exactly blow him away in that area. The thing that probably got Crede the vote over A-Rod is his subpar defense. 24 errors with a fielding percentage of .937 compared to 10 errors and a .978 for Crede. No one in the AL starting at 3B had more errors and only two players in the NL did worse. Combining them, I don't see the problem of Crede over A-Rod. A-Rod won the offensive battle while A-Rod sadly proved to be more of a liability down at third for the Yankees.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Hey, Barron and the Yankee fans: you're all cocksuckers.
Guest Princess Leena Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Czech, do I need to report you.
Guest Smues Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Czech, do I need to report you. Why? We've already established that he doesn't flam.

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Czech's taking a short vacation for that crack. Let's get back to the topic at hand.
bob_barron Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Czech was suspended? Lame, b/c he was right. I was acting like a cocksucker
Cheech Tremendous Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Bronson Arroyo did an interview with the Rhode Island News saying that he wishes he was still pitching in Boston, and that he plans to return there when he is a free agent after the 2008 season. That would kind of piss me off if I was a Cincinnati Reds fan. Article also states that the Red Sox are interested in Gary Sheffield, and that the Yankees are now willing to pick up his option just to keep him away from their rivals.
CanadianChris Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Bronson Arroyo did an interview with the Rhode Island News saying that he wishes he was still pitching in Boston, and that he plans to return there when he is a free agent after the 2008 season. That would kind of piss me off if I was a Cincinnati Reds fan. He's just being honest. He was traded there; it's not like he signed a big contract as a free agent and is regretting it. THAT would piss me off.
the max Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 I wouldn't mind Brandon coming back. I liked him and they certainly could have used him this season. Less Kyle Snyder is a good thing.
vivalaultra Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 I remember after he got traded to Cincy, he was talking about how excited he was to be there and how he was really looking forward to it and all... I bet it Cincy would've gotten to the postseason, he would be enjoying it more. If I were him, I'd wanna stay in the NL. In the NL, he's a certifiable #1 or #2 starter. In the AL, he's nothing more than a decent #4 guy...with his 72-mph frisbees and all.
naiwf Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Mike & The Mad Dog just said that ESPNews reported that Cory Lidle died in the plane crash in Manhattan I referenced in another thread.
Cheech Tremendous Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Mike & The Mad Dog just said that ESPNews reported that Cory Lidle died in the plane crash in Manhattan I referenced in another thread. I just heard that too. Holy shit. EDIT: I've moved all of my other comments to the Lidle thread.
vivalaultra Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 Oh my God. That's...just...wow. Absolutely speechless. That's just terrible news.
naiwf Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Soriano rejects $70M offer from Nats, team official says Oct. 12, 2006 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Alfonso Soriano has rejected a $70 million, five-year contract offer from the Washington Nationals, diminishing any chance the perennial All-Star will stay with the club. "It's almost impossible this great player will stay on our payroll," Nationals special assistant Jose Rijo told the newspaper Listin Diario in Thursday editions. The Dominican slugger is coming off the best season of his career, becoming the first 40-40-40 player (homers-steals-doubles) in major league history. "Everyone is more than interested in having a player like Soriano, but finances are keeping this from happening," Rijo said. AP NEWS The Associated Press News Service I don't know if Soriano's worth more than $14 million/yr but I guess he's definitely going to get it from someone. I'm much more surprised that the Nats offered him $70 million than the fact that he turned down said offer.
Guest Paul Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Yeah, thaat surprises me too. I wonder where he'll end up.
Cheech Tremendous Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Alfonso Soriano is good, but he's not THAT good. $70 million over 5? That's insane. Whoever overpays for him is going to regret it big time in a few years.
