EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Before this set I figured the Mets would win game five, the Cards game six, and game seven might be an epic. I got the first two mixed up, but this one has real potential.
NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Despite the result, Maine and Perez both really came through these past two games. They deserve so much credit.
devo Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 If they're not able to finish this game tonight due to weather, will they just pick up where they left off tomorrow, or...?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 If they're not able to finish this game tonight due to weather, will they just pick up where they left off tomorrow, or...? I think the best option would be to combine the two teams onto one roster. Then the World Series might be competitive.
Brett Favre Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Hmm. Carpenter, Glavine, Suppan, Weaver? Good rotation.

I think the best option would be to combine the two teams onto one roster. Then the World Series might be competitive. Let's not say anything crazy like that. I wonder if the NLCS winners will get Detroit Tigers World Series Champions teeshirts to wear.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 If they're not able to finish this game tonight due to weather, will they just pick up where they left off tomorrow, or...? Yeah, it would be a suspended game.
devo Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Thanks, Chris. I'm really in awe of how well Suppan is pitching. 99 balls thrown and he still looks great.
NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I don't understand why Randolph won't put in Oliver though. He's fresh and he had success against the Cards in Game 3.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I don't understand why Randolph won't put in Oliver though. He's fresh and he had success against the Cards in Game 3. Just a guess, but he might be saving him for extra innings if they need someone to go long.
NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Still, as has been said, it's Game 7. All hands on deck. No point saving pitchers just in case they have to play extra innings. Stick with one of your most reliable pitchers to keep the score tied.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Realistically, they'll need to save someone, and it'll probably be either Oliver or Trachsel. I'd feel more comfortable with Oliver pitching a few innings in relief than wasting him on just an inning or so.
NYU Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Now Willie, please, for the sake of my sanity and the sanity of everyone here, if the score is still tied at 1 at the top of the ninth -- for the love of God, don't bring out Billy Wagner.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I can't believe Suppan is still in there. Amazing.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Now Willie, please, for the sake of my sanity and the sanity of everyone here, if the score is still tied at 1 at the top of the ninth -- for the love of God, don't bring out Billy Wagner. He's warming up.
devo Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Thank God Suppan's finally out. I welcome Flores with open arms at this point.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Looking at ESPN.com's front page, I can see that AIG is going to get a lot of free advertising. Chavez is perfectly framed against their "THE STRENGTH TO BE THERE" slogan on the left field wall.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Looking through the record, there have only been three game sevens that went extra innings. 2003 ALCS (NY d. Boston) 1991 World Series (Minnesota d. Atlanta) 1924 World Series (Washington d. NY Giants) Also, game eight (a deciding game) in the 1912 World Series went extras. The Red Sox beat the Giants.
Brett Favre Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Damn, that's it? So the 2003 ALCS is almost as historical as the 2004 ALCS .
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 This Sharp commercial is WAY too overplayed.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I hate that I'm not going to be able to stay up past the ninth.
devo Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I'm thankful that they left Heilman in, if a bit surprised.
CanadianChris Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Well, shit. That's probably the ball game. Tigers in 4.

You forgot '97.
