ECW Spoilers For 10/17/06

Recommended Posts

The show opens with Matt Striker vs. Sandman in a Singapore Cane on a pole match..was a whatever match...Sandman hit Striker with the cane..Busted him open and he ran to the back....

CM Punk Vs. Rene Dupree

Punk won easily...I mean I didnt even get the guys name....I had to look it up and memory hit..It still might be wrong..

Test Segment

Test Come out and talks about Hardcore Holly and All that's been going on with Heyman...Balls Mahoney comes out and challenges test...Test declines but Balls begins to whoop his ass and the match is on.....After Balls has his moment, Test actually wins easily

Shannon Moore Vs I forgot....

Shannon Moore got some good moves in...He lost though

RVD vs. Big Show

This match was non title but if RVD wins he gets a title match....A back and forth Big Show match with his chops and whatnot...They bump the ref and Test Runs in and Beats RVD then Holly comes in and Beats Test with the chair and then Big Show tries to grap him and Holly hits big show with the Chair..The Big show is on the ground and RVD hits the frog splash for the win....

With The exception of the Main Event....Those other matches were crazy short...I barley remember them...An Hour show I Guess....

*Edit* i did forget who CM Punk faced.....Sabu vs. Rene Dupree was the match...Sabu won.....I seriously looked down and CM Punk had the guy tapping out...My bad folks...

If this is for real I can't imagine how dumb this was to simply toss out RVD/Show on free TV in a non title match. When would they even do the actual title match?

They had an interview with Show before the match...I dont think he said when the title match would happen though..

This might be rushed for sometime in November instead of the ppv, meaning the title switch. Honestly, it might not be a bad idea (just as blowing off feuds with Sandman/Striker and Knox/Punk well before the ppv) since I dont feel RVD/Show is any kind of main event calibur ppv match anyway, and would need an excess of gimmicks to work on that level.

With that said, I can't even really think of a main event for the Dec ppv that I would like to see with the guys on the roster more than Punk-Van Dam but thats just way too soon to do that. But who knows.

I'd think it has to be at Dec. to Dismember. That gives them plenty of time to hype it. Before then Show has to be in the 3 champions match at Cyber Sunday and then there's the Survivor Series team match.

Makes me curious as to how the Show/RVD feud will play into the team dynamic at Survivor Series. Between the two of them not getting along on the ECW team, and Edge/Orton interfering against DX on the RAW team, I can see Smackdown possibly getting the win.

I know it would be serious hotshotting but I'd much rather see Cena v.

Batista (beating Booker next week)

v. RVD (beating Show in 3 weeks or something) at the Cyber ppv than goddamn Show and Booker. Neither of the latter are worthy heels on top to be taken seriously against Cena at this point. When all else fails, make it more of an all babyface match with more drawing power on top. The Sur Series match is really irrelevant who will be champion there since its supposed to be 3 from each brand against each other, last I heard.

Does anyone have a taste for an RVD-Mick Foley Main Event for the next ECW PPV putting Van Dam over? I mean, the match has never happened before as far as I know........and it's not like he'd have any credible opponents for the belt after he beats Show for it.

You know, that wouldnt be that bad. Not sure if it would work to turn Foley heel though after the WWE thing. They could try though, and it might work just fine. If they hyped it up right, also having Sabu or Sandman go heel on Van Dam (or having those three in a three way dance at the ppv) might work too if Foley wasnt avaliable.

Using Foley would be completely counter-productive.

The decision to do RVD/TBS in a non-title deal isn't a horrible direction to go as it stands to draw slightly better ratings and it really shouldn't affect the buyrate for D2D, especially if they really push that possibility of the title change the fans want. There's still alot of steam left in this program, especially to early December.

ECW has a good flow going whenever they aren't dealing with SD/Raw and once again, they are disrupted by WWE/Universial insistance on sticking these brands together. Without the SD/Raw involvment, ECW had 3-4 good storylines to keep pushing along for D2D and by throwing in a couple special attraction matches, that would have made for a good card.

The SD/Raw stuff just gets in the way. While TBS is doing stuff with Cena/Booker, it takes the focus off the RVD deal and that hurts the program far greater then giving it away on free tv.

We will figure who Punk squashed this time but seeing how Punk has beaten every other jobber on the show except the FBI, I'll assume and hope it was one of them.

Judging from normal shows, are you sure it wasn't Thorn who beat Moore?

Here's another thought I had with RVD/Show. They might just do that title match on TV under regular rules, then Heyman and his thugs do blatant run ins and Show gets DQed. Thus it doesn't really blow it off and RVD is screwed once again and doesn't have another surefire title shot. Then they can do the tourney I was wanting for #1 contender going into D2D. RVD wins that, then finally gets the Show in an Extreme Rules match on the PPV.

Or they could do a couple of title switches and do Cena/RVD/Batista, but saying RVD will get the ECW title by then might be a leap of faith.

It is very possible that Vince has been listening to the pops RVD has been getting not only on ECW's tapings, but this past week on RAW, and he felt it would be best to get RVD back into the Title situation ASAP.

Crowd-heat wise, RVD is STILL above and beyond anyone else on the roster, as far as keeping his heat throughout the match and fans generally being behind him and anticipating him to win.

Punk/Dupree and Moore/Sabu is what I read elsewhere.

That sounds right.....It's ridiculous how quick those matches went..It might look better on tv, but I couldnt get settleled into a match before it was over...If those lasted 5 minutes I'd be surprised...

ECW Taping.

Match one: Singapore Cane on a pole match between Sandman and Matt Striker: Striker works over Sandman's leg in the early going, gets the cane, then gets a few shots in. Sandman counters, gets the cane, and gives Striker a few good blows, opening up a cut. Striker then bails the ring and Sandman wins via countout at 3:44.

CM Punk vs Rene Dupree: Been the standard Punk match the last month. Dupree gets the early offense, and CM Punk then comes back getting the uranage and Anaconda Vice for the submission win at 2:12. Post match, Mike Knox tries to attack, but once he gets to the ring, he backs off again. There was no Kelly Kelly sighting tonight.

RVD cuts a promo saying that he's got what he wanted, a rematch with Big Show. RVD continued by saying he came back, started at the bottom, and has worked his way back up. RVD says he knows he has what it takes to slay the dragon and that eventually Big Show will have to put his ECW Title on the line.

Test comes out to the ring and opens by saying he's the most ruthless competitor ECW has ever seen. We are reminded of Bob Holly's back injury during his match with RVD and of what Test did when Holly got his hands on Heyman. Test then tells us that Holly will be returning in a week. Balls Mahoney then comes out saying if he's looking or competition, Balls is ready to go. Test says not tonight, but the both of them start fighting in ring which leads to...

Test vs. Balls Mahoney. Test wins with the TKO at 2:57. More or less a glorified squash with Balls being taken for a ride around the ring.

Shannon Moore comes out during the break...

Shannon Moore vs. Sabu: Sabu does his thing and wins at 2:23 with a somersault leg drop over the top rope.

Big Show then cuts a promo saying that it's a good day for RVD. Big Show thinks that RVD may be stepping in the ring with the ECW Champ, but he's really stepping into the ring with the Champion of Champions, which he will become at Cyber Sunday. Big Show then says that RVD won't have a happy ending as Big Show will cut RVD down.

ECW Main Event: Big Show vs RVD. Decent match that had RVD chasing the entire way through. Just as RVD looks to be gaining the upper hand, Big Show spears RVD and then we have our glorified ref bump. Test comes out, grabs a chair, and hits RVD in the gut with it. Then Bob Holly makes his way out, taking Test out with the chair and as Big Show gets Holly, Holly takes Big Show out with the chair. RVD hits the five star frogsplash and wins at 10:23. Crowd popped for Holly's appearance and the finish.

That match with RVD really did do more to get Holly over than anything else in his entire career has.
