strummer Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Does anyone know why David hates Jim Belushi so much? I just saw that he jumped up on stage unscripted at Belushi's concert in Martha's Vineyard and was quickly thrown out. He bashes him daily on the Bob and David web site. Belushi also apparently heckled him at one his stand up shows. What's the deal?
Mecha Mummy Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I'm not sure myself. At a show he was hosting at Bumbershoot this year David Cross brought out a copy of Jim Belushi's book about being a man or some bullshit like that and just made fun of it every now and then, and read an excerpt from it to boot. I honestly think that Cross just thinks that Jim Belushi is a shitty comic and so he makes fun of him, just like he makes fun of Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 What's next for David Cross? Martha Stewart? The man knows no bounds, I tell you!
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I've heard Cross has beef with Larry the Cable Guy before, but never Dane Cook. What's the Dane Cook story?
Gary Floyd Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 To David cross: Dave, you're a funny guy. That out of the way, what's the point ripping on Jim Belushi and Larry the Cable Guy? They may suck, but believe me, they aren't worth the time. Besides, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. In other words, it's too easy, and really fucking obvious. Also, you're political humor can get a bit preachy, and your new show "Freakshow" isn't all that great.
razazteca Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 David Cross thinks he is a rapper and has beef with everybody in the business!
Hank Kingsley Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I love Cross (especially Shut Up, You Fucking Baby!), but sometimes he tends to go overboard when telling a story or doing a bit. It starts out hilariously, and then just seems to drag on past when it should have ended.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 "People are always talking about how hard it is to raise kids. 'Oh, David, it's so hard. Gosh, I love her but it's so hard.' Man, that's not hard. You know what hard is? Try talking your girlfriend into her third consecutive abortion......that's hard. That takes finesse."
Hank Kingsley Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Cross also randomly uses "fuckin'" way too often and it makes him come off as amateurish sometimes.
razazteca Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 By "feud" do you mean working arrangement to improve each others career?
Special K Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 It's a work! Someone's been watching wrestling too long. I don't think it's the cursing, it's the genuine frustrated anger that makes Cross seem both genuine and amateurish. He's funny as all hell though. And despite what you'd probably think, he's pretty cool in person.
JangoFett4Hire Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I like David Cross, tremendously, but even I bet he's too much to take in person. Like Incandenza.

And worked feuds occur in all forms of entertainment from music to television to movies.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 David Cross is a second rate Andy Kaufman with political humor undertones. And worked feuds occur in all forms of entertainment from music to television to movies. I would like to call it performance comedy with observational and pop culture references. Dane Cook would tell a story and act it out on stage before pausing to tell the punchline then 5 minutes later do a call back to the 1st story. Its like a comical sherbet to clense the funny bone
razazteca Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 If Cross is suppose to be a comical genius then why is he resorting to "lowest common dominator" tricks? Cross is just bitter.
Gary Floyd Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 raz loses points for supporting Dane Cook. Cross does seem to need to get over himself, though he's still a funny motherfucker.
NoCalMike Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Maybe he thinks Jim Belushi's act is too much of a take off from the Blues Brothers and that he is milking the act that his brother and Dan Akroyd invented.......I'm just guessing, that could have NOTHING to do with it!?!
Gary Floyd Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Yeah, and "Blues Brothers 2000" wasn't milking it. Though at least that had Akroyd. It's still one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Guest Felonies! Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 I like that Jim Belushi wears Blackhawks sweaters on TV.
bob_barron Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 I loved Blues Brothers 2000. Then again I was 12, but the music is awesome
razazteca Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 What's wrong with Jim Belushi doing karoke at the House of Blues?
Guest Connzilla Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Whats wrong with it is he doesn't let David Cross dance, Dave had the music in him and had to get it out.
Sideburnious Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 I like David Cross but I do thin at times he can be up his own ass. His comedy albums are good but they both have similar political topics, and after a little bit you just feel like telling him we get the fucking point. His non-political/religious parts are good though. He also seems sometimes to really try to force a point/joke across to the audience if they don't react the way he'd like them to, which ends up with them having a forced sounding reaction. EDIT: Oh and I think Jim living off his brother career (even more) is more reason for me to think he's useless. If he wasn't John Belushi's brother he wouldn't be in comedy/acting.
