Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 When you get caught, it's a big deal. The problem is that Rogers wasn't caught. That's because LaRussa was acting weird, and the umps were retards. Everyone knows what they saw. LaRussa even said it himself, that shit wasn't dirt.
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 i think the fact that rogers blatently cheated was beautiful. he's such a surly bad ass he just doesn't care. thats remarkable. although this may taint the championship for detroit. oh well.
The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2006 I think the point is that all of this media circus from ESPN, etc. is really kind of useless and, ultimately, takes away from the actual games being played from here on out. I would be surprised if Kenny Rogers was the first pitcher to ever load up for a World Series game and, while I think the behavior of the umpires and LaRussa in this situation is puzzling, it really doesn't matter going forward. He cheated, he got away with it, they won Game 2 - now let's play Game 3.

bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 another theory I've heard is that LaRussa didn't push because he didnt want his own players put under any sort of microscope. Apparently, according to some players over the news shows, its very widespread among pitchers, its just usually someone isn't dumbassed enough to put it in plain sight on his hands. if Rogers gets kicked, Leyland then asks the umps to go check a cardinal's pitcher, and "make sure you check this spot on his glove". Leyland and LaRussa are veterens, as well as knowing each other, there's no doubt taht Leyland would know more of the little tricks.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Uninteresting fact: I was in St. Louis for an hour on my way to a set of Tigers games in Kansas City (where they clinched a playoff spot). Took pictures of Bushc Stadium from the Gateway Arch. During Game 2 I was flipping between Fox and Sportsnet - the digital ads on the greenscreen were very annoying on Sportsnet. They did a fake "billboard sign cards flipping to change the ad" animation which seemed pointless since there were so many shots revealing the green screen. Anyone who somehow didn't notice the green screen could probably have come to the conlcusion the ads were placed in post-production when things like "Torontobluejays.com" and "Mr. Sub" (Canadian sub eatery) popped up. Annabelle 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 the tigers looked awful. embarrasing. i'd be more upset if they weren't so pathetic. the score should have been 12-0. we can all buy into the dominance of the cards pitchers, but when three of the top tigers hitters are 0-33 we can start spelling the word C-H-O-K-E. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 I'm just finding this interesting, since everyone had the Tigers. I won't go as far to say as I thought the Cards would win the series (they haven't, after all), but I didn't think it'd be the effortless beating everyone was foreshadowing. Annabelle 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Call me crazy, but Cards in 6. You were saying, Bruiser? dude, its only 2-1. i'd hardly be busting this out. after the time the tigers had with the yanks & a's i seriously thought this would be easy enough. but the layoff has done the tigers in. i haven't seen them look any sloppier & unsure of themselves. leyland did the right thing by letting pretty much all of his bullpen get some work. hopefully things will straighten out. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Oh I know it's not over. I was just replying to Bruiser apparently missing that I said the Cards would win in his post saying EVERYONE predicted Detroit. I still stand by my prediction, but wouldn't be surprised if Tigers took it either.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 I said Cards in six and I still think I'm nuts. And I'm still positive it won't happen. But as a Cubs fan, everything seems in order for it to happen. Twist that knife into our backs a little deeper.

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 I'm probably the only Detroit fan who was terrified of playing the Cards after what a week plus off. Errors have cost Detroit what 6 or 7 runs out of the 13 St. Louis has scored. Detroit just looks flat but I am confident that they can win at least one in St.Louis to get the series back to Detroit and win in either 6 or 7. All the idiots who were calling sweep for Detroit are idiots. This is a St.Louis club where their core group of players have been here before wheras Detroit has maybe two guys who have played in the Series before. It is going to be a great next few games I think.
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 leyland has made some changes in his line-up. he has moved guillen up to the third, casey down to 5th, and polanco back to 7th. still don't know about any of this. probably balances the line-up a bit more, but having pudge-polanco back to back with this streak is like death. polanco will bust out, but pudge looks lost. really lost.
