tapout 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 I have to admit, I had fun watching Paul Wight beat around the NWO and make Hogan cry during that last segment there only to get overtaken in the end. I had fun watching that also, those were some brutal chokeslams Giant was dishing out.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 The Nitro that is on right now had another solid Malenko/Rey match on it, but it went to the time limit. Anyway, Nitro had solid action for the most part, but my main criticism watching the shows now is that it is blatant that even WCW didn't care about anything that wasn't NWO related. Therefore when the NWO angle ran its course they didn't have standard storylines to fall back on, or when they did have a plethora of fun undercard angles (like in 1998) that stuff was all buried at the expense of the stale NWO. Even the WWF at its weakest had it all over WCW when it came to trying to get over what they needed to get over. The problem is that when business was weak the guys in those spots weren't connecting. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Slaughter/Samoans vs. Albano/Murdoch/Adonis was quite the fun match. Good wrestling and a very hot crowd. Midnights/LOD I've commented on before. That booking meeting must've been fun. Isn't it enough to ask two guys to fall 20 feet from a scaffold onto a mat without asking them to blade too?
JHawk 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Having watched the Boston Garden show this morning the thoughts occured to me during the Lanny Poffo-D.J. Peterson match: 1. Peterson had some talent and probably would have been a solid midcarder had he stuck around. 2. While Randy Savage was the more famous brother and could certainly work some fantastic matches, Lanny Poffo was actually the better athlete of the two. He did some shit that was just unheard of in the States at the time (a springboard somersault senton in 1988?), and had he been born ten years later he could have been the guy having classic upon classic with Rey Misterio Jr. and Dean Malenko in the WCW cruiserweight division. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Lanny's leaping springboard senton in a WWF ring in 1988 certainly caught me by surprise. I read that DJ Peterson died in a biking accident in 1993.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 I'm glad others dug that match. I watched that Boston show last night as well and went into that Petersen/Poffo match with few expectations. And it was really good. I have to wonder if there was a Poffo match against the Blue Blazer from 1988 or so? There were a couple of Blazer/Horowitz matches on those Old School shows that I enjoyed immensely.

No Blazer/Poffo match, but the Genius did manage the Beverlys against Owen/Koko around 1992 on several occasions.

tapout 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Does any body know how long the Lanny Poffo match on the Boston Card went? I havent had a chance to watch it yet. I do wish he had a longer run though. He was way ahead of his time.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have the WWE 24/7 Online direct links to the Jake Roberts Interview from late 2005 (it was from the same shoot as he did for his dvd w/ JR) and the WrestleMania 21 Music Video? I can't find them in the archives which is why I now catalog all the vids in my WMP so if vids don't appear in the archive they'll still be in My Library. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Updates: TV Classics: An episode of Florida wrestling, Primetime Wrestling from 5/4/87 (back in sequence with Mania out of the way) Legends: World's Greatest Managers Big Ones: Armageddon 2006
JHawk 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Kind of weird seeing The Machines and Big John Studd a full six months after they'd already left the company. Good show overall though. Watching Armageddon now, but I might stop it after the ladder match.

Sometimes it takes the whole day to update everything. When I check in the morning sometimes Im like "damn is this all they are giving us this month", then I check again around 9pm and its all there. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 That was a pretty boring episode of Prime Time. Alfred Hayes subs for Heenan and Monsoon nixed the promised Fuji Stand-Up comedy vignette. The debate where Heenan was censored was kinda funny.
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Hey guys, how often do they usually change and update their material. I just ordered 24/7 about 2 weeks ago, and while i was happy when i first ordered it, the last update took some stuff out and was really unwhelming, imo. I checked today and the only new things I see are a CWF episode in classics, and Armegeddon 2006. Pretty damn weak. To be honest, if it stays like that then I might just cancel it soon. Just doesn't seem worth it right now. Hopefully i'm wrong and they update more stuff tonight.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Nope, that's about right. They update every Wednesday. This week they added 4 new things (2 in TV, one in Big Ones, one in Legends). Next week they will add at least 8 things (new MNW, 5 shorties, 2 Albano matches) and maybe a new ECW or "Because Stone Cold Said So". Some weeks have less updates than others. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Armageddon 2006 was a really terrific show, probably one of WWE's best PPVs of last year. The only lame stuff was Miz/Boogeyman and the Diva contest crap. Otherwise you have the amazing ladder match, UT/Kennedy Last Ride (which was really good), MVP getting set on fire, and some otherwise adequate action like Benoit/Chavo and Helms/Yang. The main event of Cena/Batista vs. Finlay/Booker is a glorified TV match, but it's not long enough as to be offensive.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Mercury's injury was one of the most brutal things I've ever seen in a wrestling ring.
tapout 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Im halfway through Armageddon 2006, the show is pretty good so far. Regals suplex on London onto the ladder looked like it fucking killed him. Also with that ladder almost ripping Mercury's face off, I said to myself "GOOD GRACIOUS ALMIGHTY".
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 I got the new stuff of amargeddon, ptw, cwf, ecw, etc. I was able to watch last week sstuf before it expired (well actually on tuesday night right before midnight I started all the videos, not knowing which ones would expire, therefore I have them on active rentals for 24 hours and so I can watch them the next day even after they expire) so I watched since I got the box, ecw 10/8 and 10/15, WCCW 11/16/82, all the shorties, TNT 10/18/85, Stone Cold Truth, and I just finished watching the Boston Garden show, which was a pretty good houseshow with some decent matches like Harts-Rougeaus, Poffo-Peterson,Savage-Dibiase, plus a rare Bulldogs-Demolition match (think about it where else are you gonna see that matchup?) and even Duggan-Andre was short and watchable. I've got to go to work soon so before that I'm gonna watch either the capt lou HOF, or the new CWF episode. too bad I bought the armageddon dvd already Just watched a preview for april on my OD menu and it says that sometime this month the new Big One will be WWE Judgment Day 2002 (ultra rare since the dvd for the show was wwe shopzone exclusive and hard to find now) which has stuff like HHH-Jericho HIAC (which I have never seen) and Angle vs Edge, where Kurt has his head shaved for the first time.
