Guest Report post Posted February 8, 2007 When Harrison and Torry Holt are done, this is how I think it will stand. 1. Rice 2. Harrison 3. Tim Brown 4. Cris Carter 5. Torry Holt HM: James Lofton, Largent and Hutson Honest to God, Torry Holt is the most overlooked player that I've ever seen. In any sport, ever.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 I was going to include Torry Holt but at this point in time he hasn't accomplished more than the other recievers I named. Hell, I even thought about placing Rod Smith up there.

Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 1. Jerry Rice 2. Don Hutson. He basically invented the true receiver and is still Green Bay's all-time scoring leader to this day. 3. Steve Largent. At the time of his retirement he held most of the important receiving records. 4. Tim Brown. I never considered him the best WR in the NFL, but that's because he was playing with Rice most of the time. The career numbers don't lie. 5. Cris Carter. Forget Randy Moss, this is the real best Vikings player of all-time. I won't include active players, unless they would be in the top five if they retired tomorrow. Harrison is the only one who comes close to cracking my top five, but Holt might be headed there to eventually. Holt is my top current WR. He might get out performed by the likes of Steve Smith, Randy Moss, TO, etc. in a particular year, but he is the only one (besides Harrison) who is fantastic every year. Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 Kinda hard for him to put numbers up in Oakland when he's had shit, shittier, and shittiest passing him the ball. I don't believe Moss has given 100% during his tenure in Oakland, but at the same time he's had nothing to work with in terms of a QB. Due to that I don't believe he's "crapped out" and instead would not be surprised at all to see him resurrect his career in Green Bay or anywhere else that has a QB and another WR that demands defenses respect his abilities as well. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 8, 2007 If you know that Favre needs a good running game to succeed, and you don't have a good running game, then why bring him back? Do they have that much faith that they'll be able to turn it around? I don't see why not. A good running back, or at least one who could provide a spark enough to resurrect a dead running game, can be easy to find, especially in this year's draft which is deep at almost every position, and with the Packers picking in the middle of the first round and not many teams looking for help at the running back spot beforehand, Green Bay can get a really good running back. The defense played solid if not spectacular at times this year against the teams they should've beat, and didn't play well against the teams they weren't going to beat. That's a middle of the road team, and considering they're the youngest team in the NFL, they only have upside to get better, which is really encouraging seeing as how they doubled their win total in one year. And Favre obviously would be the glue that could hold the offense together, to give them the best chance to succeed. There are rumors all over that the Green Bay Packers are looking into trading for Randy Moss now that the asking price has dropped significantly. I don't quite understand it. WR is one of the few positions where the Packers don't need any help. I somewhat agree, but having an impact player like Moss on offense, particularly with a QB like Favre who likes to throw it up and let his receivers make the play (which Moss excels at doing) would be incredible, the biggest question is his character and how Green Bay fans would accept him. I mean, there was the whole mooning incident sometime ago, the continued dominance of Moss over the Packers from his first year (in his first game against Green Bay, he broke the second longest streak in league history for consecutive home victories) and how much Green Bay fans hate Moss. I mean, this would be almost akin to Jeter going to the Red Sox. And the Packers really only need help at defensive line, safety, and running back. They need to dump KGB and get someone who can actually defend the run more consistently (they were on to something late in the season with reverting KGB back to 3rd down pass rushes and having Cullen Jenkins play the rest of the time at run defense) as well as rush the passer. Green Bay was completely unable to get to the quarterback against good teams; they just need someone who can help out Kampman to bullrush the middle and who could command a double team. While Nick Collins is excellent, the other safety spot has been a problem for the Packers ever since Darren Sharper left. They replaced him with Mark Roman (whose biggest "highlight" was during the 4-12 season, having made a tackle that lasted about 20-25 yards before the runner went down) and then Marquand Manuel who wasn't that big of an upgrade. A good safety would help a lot, particularly against the deep pass where they had been vulnerable many times the past couple seasons.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 Would Terrell Owens to Dallas (Star incident) be a fitting analogy to Moss/Green Bay? There is precedent, and it could have positive consequences...but I'd still rather have Ginn than Moss.

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 idiot of the week goes to... DECATUR, Ill. -- How do you spell Scott Wiese? In a few weeks, that'd be P-e-y-t-o-n M-a-n-n-i-n-g. Wiese, a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears, signed a pledge in front of a crowd at a Decatur bar last Friday night that if the Bears lost Sunday's Super Bowl, he'd change his name to that of the man who led the Indianapolis Colts to victory. Final score: Colts 29, Bears 17. So Tuesday, Wiese went to the Macon County Courts Facility and started the process of changing his name. "I made the bet, and now I've got to keep it," the 26-year-old Wiese said. Wiese will have to advertise his intention in the local newspaper -- the Herald & Review -- for several weeks and then have a judge give him the OK to become, legally anyway, Peyton Manning. The men have little in common, Wiese acknowledges. Manning is 30 years old, stands 6-foot-5 and has a contract with the Colts worth more than $100 million. Wiese is 5-foot-11 and works at an office-supply store for somewhat less. "I think I kind of represent all Bears fans," he said. "Not that I'm saying they're all idiots like me, but I represent their passion because I really care about my team, you know?" I think San Diego is going to be reeling quite a bit from losing both the coordinators. Belichick went through this two seasons ago and is just now finding stability in the rest of his coaching staff and getting back to what they were a few years back (and he's 100x the coach Schottenheimer is). Tarkenton was a great player and everything, but playoff misery and spending five of his prime seasons as a Giant put him below Carter. I'd say neither. Jim Marshall is by far the penultimate Viking. Member of the defensive squad that helped Minnesota reach 4 Super Bowls in the 70s that even had a cool nickname (The Purple People Eaters!), NFL record holder in consecutive starts of any non-kicker, and his famous moment was running the wrong way thinking he had scored a touchdown. That's the Ultimate Minnesota Viking right there: great accomplishments offset by infamous blunder, much like how a team can reach 4 super bowls and lose all of them (although they share this with the Bills), and also field the greatest offense of all time, be only the second team to go 15-1 in a season, and then not even make the Super Bowl, losing in the NFC Championship to an inferior team, at home. I mean, as a Packers fan, with how nasty the rivalry is between Green Bay and Minnesota, I can't help but laugh at them, although a large portion of it is out of pity as well, much like the Lions. Minnesota is the longest existing team in the NFL to have never won a championship.
