- Free agent Dominic Rhodes will take a physical with the Giants on Friday. (I'm sure the site meant Saturday)

Rhodes' plane was briefly delayed by weather but he touched down in New York last night. The Giants are set to make a big push to sign him.

- The Patriots have reportedly signed TE Kyle Brady to a two-year, $5.3 million contract. Brady is believed to have received $2 million to sign.

Also included is a $1.2 million 2007 salary and $100,000 roster bonus. In 2008, Brady gets $2 million in base pay. He's already passed a physical, according to his agent, so the deal should be announced early Saturday.

Giants evidently get their running back and the Pats have replaced Dan Graham's blocking ability at the TE position. I'm not saying Kyle Brady is as good a blocker as Graham but he's not far off...only thing is he isn't a good reciever so when he's in there defenses will know its mainly to block and thus the play is most likely a run. David Thomas is suppose to be progressing well with his blocking though so I could see this just being a one year deal in the long run.

Unless they're going RB by committee, NYG is going to really regret that move. I've watched Rhodes more or less his whole pro career, and he's outstanding as a backup (to Edgerrin James) or in a tandem/backup role (like last season), but when expected to shoulder the whole load, I can virtually guarantee he'll run out of gas and leave them hanging. He'll be 28 at the start of next season, too. Not really prime age for RBs. He has one good season under his belt (his rookie year) but he's been protected well since then. In a starting role, I'm willing to bet he'll get exposed quickly.

- The Rams have reportedly signed Drew Bennett to a six-year deal that will pay him $4.5 million-per-season.

- The Patriots have reportedly reached agreement on a contract with former Dolphins running back Sammy Morris. (Dillon's replacement)

- The Patriots are expected to "court" restricted free agent Wes Welker.

Welker, who caught 67 passes in 2006, could take a load off Laurence Maroney in the return game and provide New England with a nice speed-possession target in the slot. He'll cost a second-round pick if signed.

- Chargers agreed to terms with G Kris Dielman on a six-year contract.

- Bucs acquired quarterback Jake Plummer from the Broncos in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

The Bucs will sit on Plummer's rights and hope he changes his mind about retirement, then possibly trade him to Houston closer to the draft. Tampa currently has six QBs under contract: Jeff Garcia, Plummer, Luke McCown, Bruce Eugene, Bruce Gradkowski, and Chris Simms, and is in a comfortable place to make a move if he decides to come back. The conditions of the pick are likely based on if and how much Plummer plays for the Bucs this year.

with the Plummer deal they probably meant conditional pick in 08 since he can't do anything to meet any conditions during the off-season.

Not a fan of the Giants deciding to pick up Rhodes, but I had no idea Kyle Brady was still in the league. That dude has made a shitload of money with minimal talent.

He's going to be splitting the carries with Brandon Jacobs if they sign him.

A running back. I'm guessing Adrian Peterson. Although Calvin Johnson is probably who they are looking at since he's unstoppable.

I wont be surprised if Ahman finds disappoinment in free agency & stays in GB with another 2 million dollar contract.

Bears should trade up to get Adrian Peterson, not because we need him, but just to have two.

Actually I think they need to let Thomas Jones walk and do the dual back deal with Benson and Peterson. The Adrian Peterson they have is very good and I never understood why they don't use him enough.

RB is the last thing the Bears need to mess with. They should focus on TE, OL depth, and the secondary.

Rumors say Corey Dillon could be heading to the Jets. Though that's not a reason not to try and get a young stud at RB.

The Ravens are losing players left and right

Tony Pashos (OT) to Jacksonville 6 years 24 million

Ovie Mughelli (FB) to Atlanta 5 years 18 million (biggest contract ever for a FB)

Aubrayo Franklin (reserve player, who quite frankly I have no clue who he is) to SF for 3 years 6 million

Plus whatever Adalius Thomas gets from the Patriots

They resigned Jarret Johnson for 3 years 13 million to replace Thomas.

With their salary cap as tight it is, there wasnt anyway they could afford em..its nice to see guys like Mughelli and Pashos who are average at best getting big huge deals..I'll chalk this up to Ozzie Newsome knowing what hes doing.

Ahman Green has signed with the Houston Texans.

Ahman Green became the first free agent running back to sign a contract this offseason as he agreed to a four-year, $23 million deal with the Houston Texans on Sunday.

The deal includes $8 million in the first year between signing bonus, roster bonus and base salary. Green also gets $18 million over the first three years of the contract, another staggering amount in a year of hefty contracts around the NFL.

Green's deal is the same total as the extension signed by Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor earlier in the week.

With Green off the market, Jamal Lewis, Dominic Rhodes and Travis Henry are the most prominent backs available. A Baltimore source said he thought that Lewis might re-sign with the Ravens for approximately $2 million per season. Considering the market, the price could go up.

Green, 30, has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in six of the past sevens seasons. He missed much of the 2005 season with a quadriceps injury. Green also received offers from the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers before ultimately choosing Houston.

See ya, Ahman. Thanks for the memories.

Although, I will say that 1800 yard season was pretty freakin' sweet. I don't know if this is the fix the Texans ultimately need, but I'm glad the Packers have decided to move on. It just feels weird not having a real feature back anymore, Green was the closest thing Green Bay has had to consistency at the tailback spot in decades. Not even the Super Bowl Packers had one (Dorsey Levens had like, one or two good years, and that was it).

I'm all for NFL players getting more guaranteed money. I can't find it in me to complain about any contract handed out by the GM's in this league, after the year-round commitment that these guys have to put in.

I think the Texans realized that after his workout and combines, Peterson was going to be long gone by the time the fifth pick showed up on the board. Odds are they will snag one of the guys in the second/third round who will be sitting there, perhaps Lorenzo Booker or someone like that. I don't know, it could go either way.

That's a lot of guaranteed money to dump on Ahman Green...

But, if he stays healthy, he's still got some good years left.

They'll draft one. Or at least they should.

I had forgotten about the Houston braintrust when I said no team would give Ahman Green a contract like that.

Well it makes sense, logically. Samkon Gado is over there, as is Mike Sherman, the only coach Green has ever had any measure of success with. If Gado/Dayne spell Green and his asthma and fumbling enough, the Texans might have a nice running back by committee going on.
