MrRant Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I'd throw Darrell Jackson in for the NFC WR arguement.. 58 receptions (11th NFC), 896 yds (7th NFC), 9 TDs (1st NFL).

HarleyQuinn Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 AFC QB: Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, and Tom Brady RB: LT, Larry Johnson, and Willie Parker (9 TD and 81.3 YPG) WR: Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, and Javon Walker TE: Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, and Kellen Winslow II PK: Josh Scobee or Adam Vinatieri Return Man: Justin Miller or Joshua Cribbs Punter: Shane Lechler NFC QB: Drew Brees, Marc Bulger, and Tony Romo RB: Frank Gore, Tiki Barber, and Chester Taylor WR: Roy Williams, Steve Smith, Donald Driver, Terrell Owens, and Torry Holt TE: Alge Crumpler, Jason Witten, and Jeremy Shockey PK: Jeff Wilkins or Robbie Gould Return Man: Rock Cartwright or Allen Rossum Punter: Matt McBriar
HarleyQuinn Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Interesting to see this... John Elway didn't crack the 58% completion rate until his 8th season (1990). From 1985 - 1989, he didn't even crack 56% completion of his passes. It wasn't until 1993, at age 32, that he finally took that leap forward into greatness as a passing QB. Prior to 1993 he had one season with 20+ TD (also had 23 INT that same year). Vick's thrown for 54.9%, 56.4%, and 55.3% in his first three full seasons (with 421, 321, and 387 attempts). Vick had 45 TD vs. 33 INT. That's 4.0% TD per attempt and 2.9% INT per attempt. John Elway in his first three seasons after his rookie season threw for 56.3%, 54.0%, and 55.6% (380, 605, and 504 attempts). He had 59 TD vs. 51 INT. That's 4.0% TD per attempt and 3.4% INT per attempt. 4th Season (Elway): 54.6% with 410 attempts and 19 TD vs. 12 INT. 4th Season (Vick on pace): 51.3% (likely to go up) with 411 attempts and 20 TD vs. 12 INT. So given Vick's "horrible" skills as a passing QB, maybe we shouldn't be so quick to pile up on him given the historical precedent of John Elway who was quite similar statistically and still managed to blossom.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Comparing different time periods is flawed, though. The rule changes that don't allow defender to touch WR's has caused most QB's to be in the 60+%, whereas in the 80s, even the star QB's were in the 50's. The Vick hate is getting silly, though. He's not having a bad year, at all. Also lets remember that he's on pace for 1200 rushing yards, too. That's why I'd have him in the Pro Bowl over Romo.

Guest Princess Leena Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 Oh, I forgot special teams. MCGEE & MOORMAN. MVP's for the Bills. McGee was seriously Buffalo's best offense for a while...
razazteca Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 If Rex Grossman and Jake Delhomme traded places would the results be the same?
Guest Legalise Drugs and Murder Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Probably similar. Delhomme is just having a bad year all around. I had him as a 10-15 QB in the league at the beginning of the season. Grossman's young and having growing pains. He'd probably be around 6-6 in Carolina. Chicago might have beat Miami w/Delhomme.
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Packers are switching to fake grass.
Ripper Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 From the AJC today: Vick is known for two things: 1) Making something out of nothing; 2) Making nothing out of something. But Knapp doesn’t want to give his quarterback too much freedom. He doesn’t like audibles. He prefers to have something “built in,” adding, “That way, there’s less communicating going on just before the ball is being snapped. I was with Steve Young for six years and I probably can count on two hands the amount of time he audibled. And he’s a lawyer.” Vick said he would like to audiblize more “down the road.” Any quarterback would. It’s his show. This team’s success always will hinge on Vick’s ability to create and make plays. Drawing something up in the dirt only plays to his strengths. All this time I am thinking Michael Vick doesn't audible because, well...he sucked at it, and this interview along with one that was given on the news today reveils that the offensive coordinator doesn't believe in it. On the news report, he said they don't even have them written in the offense. This all came from the touchdown pass on sunday in which vick rewrote the play in the huddle without the coachs knowing and now its some kinda story down here. But goddamn. What offensive coordinator in thie millinum doesn't believe in audibles?
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Greg Knapp. OC for Steve Young.
dh86 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 WDFN just reported that the Lions have been discussing a deal with the Vikings for Troy Williamson in the offseason. The Lions would give up their first round pick. I wanna throw up..any room left on the Bears bandwagon?
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Well, there's a deal that would make no sense at all. Who would the Vikings play at WR?
dh86 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Well, there's a deal that would make no sense at all. Who would the Vikings play at WR? They could find anyone with that pick. It would be like the Hershel Walker trade revenge.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 They could draft another Top 10 WR. Like Williamson.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 If that's true, guess they are desperate to grab Brady Quinn, seeing how Brad Johnson, Brooks Bollinger and Tarvaris Jackson doesn't seem to be "it" as far as their QB of the future is concerned.
2GOLD Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 If that's true, guess they are desperate to grab Brady Quinn, seeing how Brad Johnson, Brooks Bollinger and Tarvaris Jackson doesn't seem to be "it" as far as their QB of the future is concerned. Has Jackson even been given a remote chance to play QB? He's been hurt most of the season so I cannot understand the move. Course I have no idea why the hell the Lions think they need ANOTHER receiver. Someone stop Matt Millen before its too late. The guy has a WR fetish.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Jackson played in mop up vs the Bears last weekend. He didn't show anything terrible...
Lt. Al Giardello Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 If that's true, guess they are desperate to grab Brady Quinn, seeing how Brad Johnson, Brooks Bollinger and Tarvaris Jackson doesn't seem to be "it" as far as their QB of the future is concerned. How can you say Tavaris Jackson isn't it? They drafted him in the 2nd round, I'm sure they are more then willing to give him a chance. He hasen't shown that he can't be a good QB yet. Honestly I doubt this rumor is true, it makes no sense at ALL. Espically helping out a divison rival like that.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Because IF it's true, its a sign of lack of faith in Jackson. I'm not saying I personally believe it, but that may be Minnesota's take on it.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 I have to assume the trade is a joke, because trading a Top 3 pick for a WR who's led the league in drops multiple years doesn't seem plausible. Then again, it is the Lions.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 B. Gumbel just doesn't have the voice to do football PBP.
The Niggardly King Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Shame, I actually find him to be decent at times. He works out better inside of a studio.
CanadianChris Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Gumbel shouldn't be allowed to do any sort of PBP. He's much more suited to being an interviewer/moderator inside a studio, yes. I do like the fact that Harry Kalas does the intro and outro voiceovers.
Ripper Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Calvin Johnson will be there in the top 3 picks anyway. Honestly if you had to choose between him and williamson, who would you take.
Guest Princess Leena Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 I hope Calvin Johnson drops in the draft. He's one of the rare star WR's who was held down by a horrible college QB. Give him someone good.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Not to sound ignorant, but why is Calvin going to be the 1st WR taken? He isn't even ranked above Jeff Samardzija in the WR rankings.
