snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2006 Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather...May 5 for Oscar's 154lb belt. Biggest fight in years, it deserves a thread of its own.
Guest Report post Posted November 15, 2006 Yes, it does. If it's in LA, I'm going.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2006 If Mayweather dances, jukes & Jives, sticks n moves AKA what he normally does, he will win, and still get booed out of the building. De La Hoya is not so much a brawler either, but he can brawl, and I think he might get frustrated enough in this fight to want to brawl. The question is, can Mayweather hurt De La Hoya, and will De La Hoya get the point where he is willing to get hit by the job in order to walk through it and try to get Mayweather against the ropes. Guest Report post Posted November 15, 2006 I think De La Hoya will win. Floyd's moving up in weight again is going to catch up with him.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2006 Oscar De La Hoya is going to lose the fight like he loses every decision, win the first 4 rounds then lose the next 8 by walking in circles thinking he has the lead and refuse to do a combo punch.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Freddie Roach will be training Oscar. Rey Bautista (21-0) vs Sergio Medina (28-0) in a wbo superbantam eliminator is the first undercard bout announced. Biggest live gate ever.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2007 Estranged father and son Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Jr. have joined forces in an effort to defeat Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya on May 5. The elder Mayweather previously trained De La Hoya, but was replaced by Freddie Roach after a $2 million demand to prepare Oscar to fight his son. Floyd Jr. unveiled the reunion at today's Las Vegas press conference, telling Oscar "He may be in the corner but not YOUR corner!" Oscar stated "I'm really glad I can bring the family together like it's supposed to be." -fightnews Looks like Oscar Larios vs. Jimrex Jaca has been added to the undercard. I wont be surprised if this fight nears 2 million buys.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Official ppv card was announced today Show will open with Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista (22-0, 17 KOs) vsSergio Medina (28-0, 16 KOs) in a wbo superbantam eliminator Rocky Juarez (26-3, 19 KOs) makes his comeback from the 2 MAB fights last year against recent Jason Litzau spoiler Jose Hernandez (22-3, 14 KOs), 10 rounds, featherweights. And then, of course, Oscar De La Hoya (38-4, 30 KOs) vs Floyd Mayweather (37-0, 24 KOs) for Oscar's 154 lb belt. It's going to be $54.95. Too bad they couldn't include another fight, even a 4 rounder at least, for that price tag.
Guest Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Shitty card. Definite download. I only pay for good top-to-bottom cards. I'll buy the Pacquiao card instead of giving money to two guys I hate. Not one title fight on the undercard. FUUUCK that.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Prediction time: Mayweather messes Oscar up. Not on an Arturo Gatti level of embarassment, but decisively beats the piss out of him to a UD. I'll give Oscar the first, fifth, and one other round. Mayweather scores one 10-8 round, but doesn't get De La Hoya on the canvas.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Has Floyd fought anywhere near the competition that De La Hoya has faced... I mean De La Hoya may have lost to Trinidad and Hopkins as well as Mosley twice. All three of these guys are Hall of Fame Boxers, and you can argue that De La Hoya could have won 1-2 of those fights depending on who you talk to.....Who has Mayweather beaten... He can get embarasssed by De La Hoya because he's frankly the least credible best PFP fighter of the last 5 years or so. I am not saying PBF is a bum or even that hes not a great fighter, but nothing he has ever done has said this guy will always take the big fight
Guest VEARN Report post Posted April 5, 2007 OSCAR WILL WIN BY DECISION, THEN A HUGE REMATCH, THEN A RUBBER MATCH. ITS A BUSINESS MOVE.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Genero Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Sharmba Mitchell, Carlos Baldomir, Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah...PBF hasn't exactly been feasting on tomato cans.
Guest Report post Posted April 5, 2007 I want to see what Freddie Roach has been working on Oscar with before I make a prediction. Good thing we have that reality show.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Well I guess I can throw in my prediction. My head tells me that PBF wins, however my heart kind of wants Oscar to win it because I was so annoyed at the "he doesn't fight like a REAAAAAAAAAAAAAL Mexican fighter" during his career. Not that I have anything against PBF but, yeah, I dunno, I have been drinking too much, ask me again in a week or so..........!?!
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Yeah Oscar is more like Roberto "No Mas" Duran than say the greats like Chavez, Camacho, Barrera, Morales...
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Did you just say that Duran isn't one of the 'greats'?
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 I'm actually looking forward to Oscar getting his shit pushed in but goddamn, Mayweather has the Dumbass Quote of The Moment going on. "UFC ain't shit. It ain't but a fad. These are guys who couldn't make it in boxing. So they do mixed martial arts. Boxing is the best sport in the world and it's here to stay." Lollers. When you're main-eventing casinos in Connecticut for peanuts in 5 years, try and rifle off the same goodness, Pretty.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 So much wrong with that last post.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 So much truth. Ok, maybe not 5 years but boxing is dying and everybody and their moms knows it. And for Lloyd to come out with a quote like that when UFC is reaching a fever-pitch in terms of popularity is both retarded AND desperate.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Mayweather is wrong, UFC is here to stay. You're wrong, boxing is as well. UFC is awesome, dude, but it aint your boyfriend.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 If "here to stay" equates to "declining year by year until it's off the map and only recognizable by old-school fans" then yeah, it's gonna be around for a while. MMA, not UFC, is my boyfriend.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Did you just say that Duran isn't one of the 'greats'? He was great but he is a quit in the middle of the fight. Made a nice punching bag for Sugar Ray.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Yet you include multi-time quitter Chavez and pathetic douche Camacho as 'greats'. Ok.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 They were like Jermany Horn they had an insane record like 120-9 fighting like 5 times a month...they got tired.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Ok... Julio Cesar Chavez: 108-6-2...built a 44-0 record on tomato cans before beating Mario Martinez in LA. Continued streak with wins over some elite guys, some awful guys before beating Meldrick Taylor with a second to spare (I dont mind that stoppage). Continued to win a few huge fights here & there, with alot of record padding thrown in, before getting a 'draw' with Whitaker and first loss to Randall. In his subsequent 5 losses he would quit on his stool THREE times (Oscar twice & in his last fight) Hector Camacho: 78-5-2...first half of his career was really pretty good, beating alot of great fighters without padding his record nearly as much with the bums of Chavez' ledger. Early career was good enough to shadow his personal faults, but his second half of his career couldnt. He lost almost every major fight in the second half of his career, made a fool of himself and the sport on a regular basis, and routinely turned in dreadfully boring decisions over scrubs on tv. Roberto Duran: 103-16...beat Hiroshi Kobayashi in his 25th fight then won the lightweight title from Ken Buchanon the next year. Lost nontitle fight to Esteban De Jesus by decision later in '72, avenged that loss by coming up off the mat to ko DeJesus in 1974. Was still lightweight champion in '78 when he again stopped DeJesus before vacating the title. Moved up to welterweight, won a 10 rounder over Carlos Palomino, then decisioned Ray Leonard for the welter belt. Struggles after quitting that fight (not three fights like Chavez) before splattering Pipino Cuevas & davey Moore in 1983. Will lose most of his remaining 80s superfights before beating Iran Barkley for the middleweight title in 1989's FOTY. A 90s resurgance, well past his prime of the 70s, would result in several losses on the old-timer circuit against Pazienza & Camacho. Basically, if you think Camacho was greater than Duran, or Duran's 'no mas' was some how worse than Chavez' 3 than your kinda retarded.
Guest Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Duran and Chavez are greats. Camacho is not.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Raza is probably the first person I've ever seen lump Camacho in with Chavez/Barrerra/Morales as a 'great' and cast aside Duran. I dont even know what that Horn stuff was about.
