Um, Vanderjagt is on the Cowboys.

This is the second coaching staff and probably the 10th through 15th receivers they've put around this guy and he still can't pass.

You can only blame the coaches and the receivers for so long before you come back to the QB as the person to blame.

While Roddy White's dropped pass was an obvious one caught on film, I don't think it's representative of the problems with the team.

I think what's more representative of the problem is that Vick has, on multiple occasions, thrown his coaches and his receivers under the bus through public commentary.

Doing something like that undermines the coaches while losing the respect of other players in the locker room. It's not what a leader should do and, by virtue of being the team QB and having that huge contract, Vick is SUPPOSED to be a leader.

You don't see Drew Brees throwing Terrance Copper under the bus because Copper fumbled against the Steelers to seal a loss.

You typically don't see Tom Brady blaming the coaching staff when he throws an interception. (Brady HAS called out management over their refusal to pay his receivers enough to keep them in town, but that's different)

You don't see Peyton Manning claiming that Tony Dungy's schemes are the reason that the Colts have yet to win a playoff game with him at the helm.

That kind of "me first, it's never my fault" attitude that Vick is displaying is exactly what's wrong with the Falcons and why they'll probably never reach the Super Bowl with Vick under center.

No player deserves to say fuck you to any paying fans.

The fuck you say. Depends on what they say to you. If your boss calls you the right amount of shit you will say fuck you to them too, so yeah, Vick has the right to say fuck you to someone who crosses the line.

That's still not acceptable if in a public place. What Vick did was very wrong, and he should be fined as heavily as possible.

Snow and Favre; already I am dreading halftime of this game.

Good start for the Packers though, turnover and some good offensive production. Probably all they will do the whole night.

Damn, the snow is really coming down now. This COULD be fun.

They've won (I think) 3 playoff games.

Except for the fact that under coaching staff number one he passed for 3000 yards with a 81 QB rating a do belive his first year starting in the league. Under coaching staff two, he hasn't come close to those numbers.

While Roddy White's dropped pass was an obvious one caught on film, I don't think it's representative of the problems with the team.

They had 21 dropped passes in three weeks at one point this season. Yes...that is one of the HUGE problems with the team.

I think what's more representative of the problem is that Vick has, on multiple occasions, thrown his coaches and his receivers under the bus through public commentary.

And everytime he has done it they respond for about two weeks then go right back to sucking the big one. Especially this year. Last year, Vicks request to be Mr. Pocket QB is the reason they lost. This year, its horrible playcalling and not making the simple plays. They need to be called out eventually. They have been sucking for a long long time.

You also see Copper making alot of plays in that game and they wouldn't have been in it without him and some spectacular catches. Plus that is a isolated mistake. When your recieving corps drops 10 passes in one game, what exactly are you supposed to say. And Vick still didn't throw them under the bus. He came out with that canned "We just have to start making plays as a team and get it done". Everyone knew who he was talking about, but its not like he starting calling out names.

You typically don't see Tom Brady blaming the coaching staff when he throws an interception. (Brady HAS called out management over their refusal to pay his receivers enough to keep them in town, but that's different)

And when have you seen Vick call out anyone but himself on his (numerous) screwups (usually envolving not carrying the ball securely enough.)

You don't see Peyton Manning claiming that Tony Dungy's schemes are the reason that the Colts have yet to win a playoff game with him at the helm.

But you did see him call out his offensive line when he was the one sucking the big one last year. And then called out the kicker(although...yeah...he should have)

That kind of "me first, it's never my fault" attitude that Vick is displaying is exactly what's wrong with the Falcons and why they'll probably never reach the Super Bowl with Vick under center.

Blah blah. With coaching staff one they were one game away from the super bowl and very much into that game until the 4 Quarter. Until they at least fire Gregg Knapp and Maybe Ed donatell, they are in trouble.

Michael Vick managed to become the single most overrated and underrated Quarterback at the same time. To all the people that say/said he was incredible and the greatest thing since sliced bread, he really isn't. He is a game changer at the qb position with a very strong arm. For all those that say he can't pass and is nothing but a running back, sorry but you are wrong too. He has shown that when given time he is ridiculously accurate. But he often doesn't get time. Under a offense that played to his strengths, he was legitimately a top 10 QB in the league. I don't think you can argue that. But it all changed the second his coaching changed.

There should be more talk of how San Diego bitch slapped Atlanta in the Vick/LT trade. But, with ESPN's never-ending hype of Vick, that won't happen. Too bad, LT and Dunn would have been the hawtest RB tandom ever.

And Seattle is somehow going to win this thing. Ugh.

It's hilarious because everytime Vick has a good stretch, ESPN is always right there to hang onto his nuts and proclaim, "It looks as if Vick has finally turned the corner onto Greatness" and then Vick proceeds to be Michael Vick and the ESPN coverage simply dissapears.

i've gotta back up ripper here. i never used to watch vick, but after i moved to savannah and started getting falcons games regularly... yeesh. i remember earlier in the season someone commented on the falcons' receivers only running two different routes... i've seen three. something needs to change there, surely, but i don't think vick is it.

I forget who it was exactly, but someone on ESPN.com had an article last week saying exactly that. It was refreshing.

Why do people insist that ESPN is the ONLY news coverage around sucking on Vick, Favre, Brady, Bush and company?

Because ESPN is the only 24-hour national sports network (that I get at least), and they're by far the worst offenders of the hype.

He has shown that when given time he is ridiculously accurate.

Please tell me you're joking. Vick has a career completion percentage of 53.6% and he's barely completing 50% of his passes this year. Obviously, drops do play a role in his performance this year, but calling him "ridiculously" accurate is a stretch.

But he often doesn't get time.

For a QB that can scramble so well, why is this even an issue? How can he be a "game changer" at the position with his athletic ability and a guy who's screwed by lack of pass protection at the same time?

Under a offense that played to his strengths, he was legitimately a top 10 QB in the league. I don't think you can argue that. But it all changed the second his coaching changed.

And do you remember exactly how that coaching change came about? Who was it that had a ten week injury rehab that mysteriously ballooned to three and a half months, tanking the season and leading to Reeves getting fired one year after beating the Packers in Lambeau in the playoffs?

Vick has been given a ton of leeway in his NFL career; he blows off film study, has constantly had the same issues with mechanics and footwork for years and, until very recently, hasn't really taken on a leadership role in the team. Save for a decent year in 2002, he's been remarkably mediocre, especially when you consider that he fumbles the ball almost once per game and that any negative runs aren't applied to his rushing averages (since they're scored as "sacks").

So Seattle won.

Hooray.

I agree about that roughing the passer shit. How is a 300lb lineman going to stop when he's halfway diving at the QB when the QB still has the ball in his hands.

Alexander for 40 carries and 201 yards.

I thought Seattle looked really good last night once Hasselbeck and Alexander settled in. It was Green Bay, but still, you have to be impressed with their performance in the second half. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that Seattle can't win the NFC this year. They've become the forgotten team because of all the injuries and the weak schedule they've played.

Green Bay really played their asses off last night, but it was sad to see them tank in the 4th quarter. At least it really shows that they at least have what it takes to hang with some teams that are still playoff contenders, which is reassuring, but I don't know if they have to get some new players at the safety spots or what, their deep pass secondary isn't doing a good job, but worst of all, I don't care if it's Shaun Alexander or not, they URGENTLY need to get some good players on the defensive line, especially who can play against the run. Corey Williams is nothing more than an okay backup, and Ryan Pickett is too inconsistent.

But to almost beat Seattle at Qwest with the odds overwhelmingly against us is really nice. Maybe if they win out, we could just call it a nice season, playoffs or not, and that'll be it. I still called anywhere from 7-9 wins this year, and there's games against the Jets (a little tough), Niners (probably not a cakewalk anymore), Lions, and Vikings.

I'm just glad that team is putting forth some real effort this season and, with all these rookies presumably being even better next year and a few more additions, hopefully Favre will stick around for another year or two.
