Craig Th Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Casino Royale is on pace to be the #2 grossing Bond of all time, but I bet it will become #1 from word of mouth.
Youth N Asia Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 I know what the new movies are about, but I haven't seen a single tv ad for Touristas, Nativity, or VW 2. Let's Go to Prison just hit my $2 theater, I'm seeing that this week
Ginger Snaps Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 I know what the new movies are about, but I haven't seen a single tv ad for Touristas, Nativity, or VW 2. Let's Go to Prison just hit my $2 theater, I'm seeing that this week The only thing I know about Nativity is that it's about Jesus and there's controversy around it because the 16 year old they got to play Mary is legit pregnant. Maybe with the Christ child, I don't know.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 wow, 2nd week and Tenacious D isn't even Top 12. Ouch.

LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I know what the new movies are about, but I haven't seen a single tv ad for Touristas, Nativity, or VW 2. Touristas I've seen a lot of ads for... usually late night Comedy Central. Nativity I've only seen posters and Van Wilder I saw a TV ad once or twice.
Zack Malibu Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I had orginally thought the Van Wilder sequel was going to be direct to DVD. I didn't expect a huge performance out of it. I've seen ads for Turistas all over the place.
BUTT Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I know nothing of the movie, but I can't really expect much from a Van Wilder sequel that doesn't actually have Van Wilder in it. That would seem to be lacking a major ingredient.
Gary Floyd Posted December 4, 2006 Author Report Posted December 4, 2006 Just saw the new Bond movie, and it's great. Not the best one ever, but the best in a long time. "Turistas" wasn't that good. What's funny, is that it reminded me of "Hostel" at times, but for the most part, I thought it was like "Zombie Holocaust" aka "Dr Butcher M.D.", only not as campy or enjoyable, and without any cannibals or zombies.
razazteca Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 wow, 2nd week and Tenacious D isn't even Top 12. Ouch. I guess nobody likes Kyle Glass that or the deal Tenacious D made with the devil was only for Jack Black's movie career.
Guest NYankees Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Airborne made more money in the box office than Tenacious D. I guess Jack Blacks drawing power is going down the shitter. Can someone answer this for me. Is it true that Shallow Hal was a box office flop in 2001 but made a ton of money on DVD?
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Wouldn't surprise me. It was a surprisingly sweet movie. Fucking awful, but surprisingly sweet (though the message was incredibly obvious). Saw Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny last night. Funny, but if you don't like overuse of the word "fuck" and dick/fart jokes, you'll hate it. The music was good, and the appearance of Satan was great (especially the song he plays). Destined to be a cult classic because it's not great, and only appeals to fans of Tenacious D.
cd213 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Happy Feet is number 1 again. Talk about a movie having legs, pun intended.
bobobrazil1984 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 glad to see Casino Royale doing so well. It always looked good but i had a fear that audiences might not go see it because daniel craig wasn't a pretty metrosexual and it was too "internet", glad to see that didn't happen.

AndrewTS Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Deja Vu I was kind of dragged to go see, but considering it was a Bruckheimer production/had spastic Tony Scott direction, it was decent. Would have been better save for an ultradumb chase scene smashed in the middle of the film. See Denzel's character injure/kill dozens of people because of a combination of obsession and negligence! See the hummer he's driving sustain a head on collision from a ****ing semi and stilll keep going! See him hit and run paying no mind to the consequences of his actions!
bob_barron Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 That chase scene was one of the best parts of the movie
Epic Reine Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 The reason Tenacious D tanked is because: 1.) It's only for fans which is a small fanbase to begin with 2.) The movie is about 3 years too late.
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I think the movie would've made more bank direct-to-video, honestly. Then there wouldn't have been the humbling box office bomb thing.
AndrewTS Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 That chase scene was one of the best parts of the movie Wow, you must really hate the movie.
DrVenkman PhD Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 I couldn't tell from the numerous ads I saw for Turistas if it was called "Turistas" or "Turistas Go Home". I also laughed at the title as it reminded me of Stephen Colbert and his "istas" suffix.
