King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Okay, no preamble. Would it be easier on everybody if we changed the schedule to one, fixed weekly show? At the moment some people don't seem to be showing as often as they should and there's probably a lot of reasons for that. Time not being the only one. But this three show schedule continues to throw me off even after three and a half years and it's even worse now I get barely any time at weekends. Other people can't be booked for certain shows because of other issues. So surely if there was one show a week, everyone would have some time within that week to try and write? 7 days probably doesn't seem much different to 4 or 5 in terms of writing time, but it makes a difference because I know when and when I can't write within the week and can get into an actual routine. SWF in the current schedule can be a little disruptive. At the OAOAST (yawn, I know) it's one show a week, fixed. All I know is, I have any easier time with that than I do here, so make of that what you will. Besides that, we could in theory have a bigger show each week and therefore avoid having so many throwaway 'one undercard match and whatever Toxxic's writing this week' shows. On one show a week, we might even get more work-shy vets back to write. And if there's more matches, the shows are better, people are more interested so they're more compelled to write and the cycle just keeps on going. Just a suggestion anyway. I can't see how this could be anything but better than the current schedule, but maybe you disagree.

chirs3 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 (edited) That's actually something I'd been thinking about... it would cut a show or two between PPV cycles, which may or may not be a bad thing... the only other downside would be people left off a card would be waiting that much longer to write again. We try, but sometimes people get left off a card or two in a row, and while that equals 9-10 days now, it would be 14 days on this new schedule. Granted, that gives CC a bit more incentive to include everybody, but priority tends to go to those with titles and those with storylines, so drifters could end up either getting tossed into a lot of "just because" matches, or just left off for weeks at a time. Which is pretty much what we do now anyway, but the 3-show rotation allows less downtime for them than a one-show-per-week rotation. If I accidently leave someone off a card, I can fix it 4 days later instead of 7. Still, this is definitely something I wouldn't mind trying out. Perhaps once we reconvene after Chrismas break, we could do a month or two with a schedule like this and see what people think. Toxxic 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 I'm open to this if needed. Might be worth a try to see if we can up participation a bit.

With one show a week, I'd assume a few of the booking concerns like the endless array who can't write for Storm might clear themselves up. And it's not like we don't have enough titles to go around. I see the problem with people getting 'nothing' matches, but they'd more than likely be the people who don't write for non-nothing matches anyway. I think it's worth trying out at least. JJ Johnson 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 I remember, a few years ago, Jay Hawke got booked in an interview segment with a word limit to talk about whatever. That could solve at least one unbooked person. I also endorse the one show a week.

Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 Every show has a weekend to write, and there's no "short day" show. I say we give it a try.

JJ Johnson 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 I nominate Wednesday, and ditch the Lockdown name in favor of either Storm or Smarkdown.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 I second the Wednesday nomination, and say we create a whole new name. Although if Storm is supposed to be the flagship, we should use it if not something new.
The Ill One 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Wednesday and being named Storm would be nice.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Another agreement on Wednesday. Being in the middle of the week is easier logistically.

Guest Dev Report post Posted December 6, 2006 I know I'm new here, so my opinion probably doesn't matter much, but I endorse this. I'm trying to keep my grades up high (going for all As) so the e-fed hasn't exactly been my top priority. Sometimes I'll get lost in doing everything else and when I remember to check the card I see that I only have a few days left to write a match. If it was a week inbetween shows my forgetfulness probably wouldn't be a problem anymore. The current schedule just seem slightly fast paced and hectic to me. Toxxic 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Keeping n00bs has been the problem. If one show a week on a Wednesday helps us do it, I say roll with it. Not sure what we'll do about PPVs though - keep to a six-week cycle? It'll reduce the shows inbetween from nine to six, but it's better than trying to go TNA and have only four I think. When will we have PPV's though? Are we going to really stretch things out and say that we only have five shows, then a week and a half to write the PPV? Chuck Woolery 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 obvious answer to that is to have the wednesday before a PPV be a promo-and-light-match show, and announce the card for that show and the PPV at the same time. we could probably just bump PPVs per year from eight to six, honestly, although i wouldn't mind seeing a couple SATURDAY NIGHT SMARKDOWN SPECIAL or some shit like that spread out through out the year, in lieu of a wednesday night show that week.
