bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Hibbert has taken his name out of the draft. Now for some Team USA news USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team Managing Director Jerry Colangelo officially announced Wednesday in Las Vegas, Nev., the addition of Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz); Tyson Chandler (New Orleans Hornets); Kevin Durant (University of Texas); Jason Kidd (New Jersey Nets); Mike Miller (Memphis Grizzlies); Greg Oden (Ohio State University); Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons); and Deron Williams (Utah Jazz) to the Senior National Team roster. Boozer, Kidd, Deron, and Tay are excellent choices, the kind of all around bball players that are needed. Though its hard to see how they're going to winnow everybody down to a good team. Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 I like that Chicago seems to be brought up in every trade scenario. In the case of Amare, I'd welcome it. In the case of Zach Randolph? No thanks. because everyone knows that Chicago needs a big change to become championship caliber. Zbo makes them that right now. People say he is a bad seed and all, but winning has a way of making you saintly.

Guest Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Exactly. These teams are getting franchise players on a rookie contract! They're going to pay them chump change and get greatness. If either GM traded their pick, they deserve to be shot and hung from the rafters of their arena.

I cannot see Skiles commanding respect from Zach Randolph. And if that's the case, that's a wasted trade for Chicago. Ripper likes to call Amare an asshole, but Amare is younger and has a lot of upside, so that far outweighs the risks that might come with getting him. Randolph? The Bulls are trying to get younger, not older.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 I thought Randolph was like 28? edit: Ah my bad. Nevermind the age argument then. Just the attitude issues/coaching potential issue.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Amare is a basketball asshole and probably isn't particularly liked in his locker room . Zbos main problem has been off the court issues which have pretty much died down recently, but I am not sure if that is a "its just a matter of time" issue or "he has gotten some common sense". But yeah, you are talking two 20-10 guys that have had micro fracture surgery that have shown attitude issues. I don't know how you can be interested in one and not the other honestly. Anyway, fuck Chicago. I want him in Atlanta.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 23, 2007 I think Zbo would respond a hell of a lot better in a city like Chicago than Atlanta, because Chicago is "just a piece away" and have got a ton of great players, while Atlanta is only trying to get to the playoffs at this stage. I could see Randolph being a problem in that kind of situation. And let's not forget, the guy put up All-Star caliber numbers last year, and only had one minor off the field incident (I think I read in the Oregonian, something about him and Miles- now that's a bad influence for ya right there- hanging out in a parking lot at a club where a gun had gone off). USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 Let's see if it actually happens first (the trade scenarios). Personally I don't care for Randolph, but if we don't give up too much in the trade and he is on his best behavior while in Chicago, I'd be fine with it. Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2007 There is no real difference in Randolph and Amare at this point. Each has their strengths and weaknesses, but they are fairly comparable as players in terms of overall production. Randoph will probably cost a lot less in terms of talent given up, mostly because of his off-the-court issues. I think this is a moot point, however, as I still think the Suns will trade Marion before Amare.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 You could get KG for Amare. You couldn't get KG for Marion. Marion at 16 mil isn't as tradeable. -Although if Utah could put together a package I would love to have AK-47 and his superior shot blocking and passing abilities in a suns uniform for Marion. I also would like Josh Smith(and Childress) for Marion and Banks, (I can dream, can't I?_
Guest George's Box Report post Posted May 24, 2007 And let's not forget, the guy put up All-Star caliber numbers last year, and only had one minor off the field incident (I think I read in the Oregonian, something about him and Miles- now that's a bad influence for ya right there- hanging out in a parking lot at a club where a gun had gone off). He also got into some trouble with a prostitute that he had a child with, or something along those lines. Could Randolph work in Chicago? I don't know. I'm not sure if Scott Skiles is the kind of guy that would work well with a guy like Randolph. Skiles has shown that he works best with college players who have been coached well in the past; Randolph is more of a reclamation project in terms of getting him to fit into a system, and I don't think Skiles is the guy that could get it to work. Remember, this guy spent his formative league years with Bonzi Wells and Rasheed Wallace, so that's the kind of jackass we're dealing with here, and it would take someone like Larry Brown (or Larry Brown himself) to keep him on the straight and narrow. I know Paxson has demonstrated and expressed a commitment to a well-behaved culture in Chicago, which is why the perpetually hung over Chris Duhon will likely be leaving town, and why a malcontent like Randolph wouldn't be a good fit. The problem with Paxson's noble experiment is that while this is has given the Bulls a hell of a supporting cast, it leaves them lacking in the superstar category, and unless Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett were to magically fall in Chicago's lap, then it's going to be awfully hard to find a squeaky-clean easily coached superstar to place amidst the supporting cast. Luol Deng is a hell of a player, as are Hinrich, Nocioni, and Gordon, but they're not centerpieces.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 24, 2007 Using ESPN's trade machine, it looks damn near impossible to trade Randolph to Chicago anyways, since Randolph has such a huge salary and everyone on the Bulls is making scratch except for Ben Gordon. I'd love to get someone like Deng and/or Thabo for some defense, but yeah, it won't work with the salaries.

Actually it works if you do this, involving Phoenix: Randolph and Miles to Chicago Amare and Nash to Portland Ben Wallace to Phoenix but Phoenix would be out of their minds to do that trade. Guest George's Box Report post Posted May 24, 2007 If Tyrus Thomas elects to have a brain surgically implanted in his head, maybe Wallace will be unloaded. I think Tyrus's biggest obstacle to obtaining serious playing time has just been that he seems to be dumber than a bag of hammers, when it comes to basketball intelligence or just that whole "we're only in in for the money" flap around the All-Star break.
