tigeraid 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 So apparently London England got a tornado. Aw shucks. We got this in OUR London: The snow on top of the truck gives you an idea of the depth. Just about up to my waist. And of course me being the brilliant Canadian I am, I spent half an hour last night digging my whole 8-car driveway out, then promptly parked my car at the VERY end of the driveway at the back... So I had to dig it ALL out again. The road hasn't been touched yet, so shoveling all the way to the road is rather pointless, the plow's just gonna throw it all on again. What's funny is, you look at the weather channel map, there's LITERALLY a circle of snow around London and nowhere else, nothing over Toronto, nothing over Windsor, nothing. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 I don't care about snow. Snow is nothing and I rather enjoy snow. It's ice, like the ice that came out of nowhere yesterday (and took my damn car away!) that bothers me.

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Stop bitching. That's nothing.
tigeraid 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 I'm not bitching. I was comparing it to London England's "problem." I come from Northern Ontario and this is, in fact, "nothing." I like snow as well. I even like shoveling it. I just don't like shoveling this much.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Yeah, it's nothing on the grand scale, but keep in mind tigeraid is referring to Southern Ontario, not Western Canada or some state like Green Bay. Getting more than 4 inches of snow in a single fall is rare and annoying here.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Does the Toronto area usually get some lake effect from Ontario and Huron?
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Does the Toronto area usually get some lake effect from Ontario and Huron? Damned if I know why, but not nearly as badly as Buffalo seems to. The realtors I do ads for in London said EVERYTHING was closed.

tigeraid 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Yes, everything is closed. Plow finally came by around 11, so I was able to finish the driveway. The sick part of this is that it's going back up to +8 C on Monday or Tuesday, so all this snow is gonna melt and probably flood the whole damn town.
Guest Legalise Drugs and Murder Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Miserable fucking substance. I'd rather have a tornado. It's a little chilly here; got down to 9 last night, which doesn't bother me. It could be 20 below zero every day this winter, and I wouldn't give a fuck if it didn't snow. I could NEVER live in Buffalo, or closer to Michigan City, IN, which just got shat on.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 We got a small snowstorm here this morning and there was ice too. Windchill was the worst. Ye gods. I always refuse to put on a hat and gloves during the first really really cold day of winter. Don't know why...
tigeraid 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Why in the fuck would a person want to live in a place where that happens? Jesus H. Because I detest the summer heat, can't stand humidity and loathe any weather over about 25 degrees C (77 F.) I would take -40 C any day over a +30 C summer day. Unfortunately, moving to London has made that worse for me. We have crappy winters AND crappy summers. The winters in London are typically no colder than -10 C or so, with windy, slushy, sticky, rainy, shitty weather all the time, because of the humidity. Up in North Bay where I grew up (Northern Ontario) winters were anywhere from -25 C to -40 C, but there was very little wind, the snow was hard packed, the air was crisp and clean and dry, and the humidity was low. Then to make matters worse, in the summer London might as well be Louisiana, with temperatures approaching 100 F at times, and always 70%+ humidity. Walk outside and I have a pool in my shorts. It's disgusting. I miss North Bay, is I guess what I'm saying

Once you get used to the snow, it's really not bad at all. The worst part about Buffalo is that you basically never see the sun from Christmas to February. Honestly, I'd rather have that than 120 degree heat and yucky air.
Guest Legalise Drugs and Murder Report post Posted December 8, 2006 I've lived in northeastern Indiana my entire life, which is where the Lake Michigan snows go to die after roaring over the Chindiana region, and every year since I was five, I've done nothing but curse the weather from December to early March. That sweltering jungle shit is awful, too. My ideal climate is mild temperatures and constant rain. That doesn't bother me at all. At least the south is freezing their asses off this year. I bet all the snowbirds in florida are shitting.

Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 The real fun starts when you get that much snow over 3 days with constant 80km/h winds. Ever seen the northside of your 2 story small town bank disappear?
Guest "Go, Mordecai!" Report post Posted December 9, 2006 some state like Green Bay. I thought Canadians were geography aces. I have about a foot and so inches at my house right now. I don't mind snow, really. It's the single-digit wind chills that make me really grouchy. 5 last Sunday. Splendid.
muzz 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 What's snow? It's 41 degrees celsius here today, but we love a boiling hot christmas.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 Does the Toronto area usually get some lake effect from Ontario and Huron? Very rarely it'll get hit with Lake effect because how the city is located. It has to be a very bad system to really make Toronto snow. It's more of a freezing rain or sleet than snow from the lake. The Niagara region and Buffalo area is the most fucked up area for snow. It can be three feet of snow in Buffalo, but drive twenty minutes to Niagara Falls and its either raining or maybe an inch of snow on the ground.
-DeN- 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 I don't get the snow hate. It falls down; you shovel (or snowblow if you're a fucking aristocrat) it up and the chicks look all cute in their little hoodie jackets, boots and the like. Plus, all the christmas shit looks way cooler. My weather kicks your weather's ass; unless your weather is similar. In that case we're on the same team--Nice to meet you. It's pretty cold. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 . My ideal climate is mild temperatures and constant rain. Seattle? I was gonna say, Vancouver's got shit figured out for their winters and summers: Seldom lower than 2 or 3 degrees C in winter, seldom higher than 20 C in the summer. Snow doesn't make the roads dangerous. It makes the idiotic drivers dangerous. Hating snow is stupid, it can't possibly hurt anyone. Can it be a nuisance? Maybe but no more then extreme heat during the summer. At least you can move snow, heat just stays in place.
