Guest NYankees Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Mark Whalberg got nominated for The Departed??? He had 5 scenes at most. I am suprised that Matt Damon wasn't nominated for the movie. It is nice to see Borat get a couple of nominations.
Brett Favre Posted December 14, 2006 Author Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm also suprised that Damon didn't get any nominees, while Whalberg did. Mark Whalberg was really good though, although he was barely in the movie.
starvenger Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Borat? Wow. I'm just in shock, since that doesn't seem to be the type of movie the award types would gravitate towards...
Lord of The Curry Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm loving the Chewitel love.
Black Lushus Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Jeremy Piven for supporting actor...AGAIN!
bobobrazil1984 Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm rooting for The Departed. Great f'in movie.
Guest NYankees Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Well if it's main competition is Babel and Bobby, I dont see why it wouldn't be able to win.
Red Baron Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 I'm also suprised that Damon didn't get any nominees, while Whalberg did. Mark Whalberg was really good though, although he was barely in the movie. Damon wasn't that good in the movie compaired to Mark Wahlberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack, Alec Baldwin and Martin Sheen.
Craig Th Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Where are the series for dramas nominees? EDIT: I put them in Cena's post.
Yuna_Firerose Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Sacha Baron Cohen and Hugh Laurie in the same place (again)? I'm so there. Much, much love for Borat getting the love he really deserves. Sure just a nom, but that's worth something. Oh, and what's with DiCaprio being nominated twice in the same category? How can he compete with... himself?
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I love seeing Borat nominated. Not that it will win either. That Best Actor in a comedy is interesting to say the least just in terms of I would see them giving it to the Kinky Boots guy just because they wouldn't award the others (although most likely Johnny Depp). Even though it's the Globes, I think the Best Supporting Actor is by far the most interesting category in terms of picking a winner. Also, I was surprised to see DiCaprio and Eastwood get two nominations in the same category. I just don't remember ever seeing that before.
SuperJerk Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 The Globes are a joke. Worth repeating.
Ravenbomb Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I think Hugh Jackman should've gotten a nomination for The Fountain. Ditto for Aronofsky and the movie in general. At least Mansell got nominated for his great score for it. Oh well, go The Departed!
Craig Th Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 The Globes are a joke. Worth repeating. It's a big deal to the people who win them.
starvenger Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 The Globes are a joke. Worth repeating. It's a big deal to the people who win them. Naturally. Getting any kind of award is grounds for upping your per movie fee despite being a poor actor - see Berry, Halle.
Guest NYankees Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 What about Roberts, Julia? Thank god she had two kids. She might have named them horrible names but at least they keep her ugly horse face off of tv and film.
Craig Th Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Umm, Ugly Betty over The Office, Weeds, Entourage and hell even Desperate Housewives? Bulllshit. (Yes I haved watched UB. It isn't funny.)
Hank Kingsley Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 This is ridiculous. "Ugly Betty" just won best comedy.
Hank Kingsley Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 And even though I expected it, Alec Baldwin topping Braff & Carell pissed me off too.
SuperJerk Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Award shows in general are just further proof that people become entertainers because of a psychological deficit that causes them to constantly need approval. (So...what'd you think fo my post? Shockingly irreverent and topical, wasn't it? Everyone agrees with me, right?)
Craig Th Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 All the actors I know from college and high school are ugly. Well theater people.
Hank Kingsley Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 They got one right with Scorsese.
Hawk 34 Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 How is Ugly Betty a comedy? It's a decent show but I've always considered it a light hearted drama.
KingPK Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Grey's Anatomy over Heroes and 24? Yeah......no. The Globes are a joke.
Hawk 34 Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 To be fair, Heroes has only aired 13 episodes and they were nominated before they all aired. How could it really be nominated other then because it was the new trendy show?
bob_barron Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 And even though I expected it, Alec Baldwin topping Braff & Carell pissed me off too. Baldwin deserved it though
buffybeast Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I'm just happy Jennifer Hudson won and Beyonce did not. I hope Be's performance isn't even recognized come Oscar nomination time.
Craig Th Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 To be fair, Heroes has only aired 13 episodes and they were nominated before they all aired. How could it really be nominated other then because it was the new trendy show? Well it is good and they have aired 11. In 2004, Sopranos, Deadwood, Nip/Tuck and 24 got nods. Sopranos and Nip/Tuck had 13 episodes while Deadwood had 12. (Nip/Tuck won that year) Yes, they ran full seasons. But just because a show only ran 11 episodes, they shouldn't neglet it.
