PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2008 No breakfast. Well, a delicious organic banana, but that's about it. Mushroom pizza for lunch. And for dinner, I'm preparing fish and chips. Breaded cod and chips, accompanied by tartar sauce and malt vinegar. Went out and got a sixer of Guinness to go along with my meal. Yum.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 23, 2008 I used to update this pretty frequently, I've fallen short of doing that. Breakfast: odwalla superfood + lox/chive egg mit from Noah's on their new cheddar jalapeno bagel. Pretty good stuff. Lunch: coffee! (with soy milk) + granola bar. No real time to stop and eat. Dinner: Probably leftover heavily modified mac and cheese. I made it with chopped onions, tomato, garlic, and basil, then drizzled with olive oil. I think I'm actually something of an expert of turning really cheap foods into gourmet-ish meals. Like, I've got tons of canned tuna, mac and cheese packages, and ramen in the pantry, but I can cook a different thing with every single one of them. I was also pretty unaware of the wide variety of ramen there is until I visited this one Asian supermarket available only in the Northwest called Uwajimaya- they have an entire aisle that's just ramen. Boatloads of different varieties. Upon visiting it, I looked for the one that was the highest in sodium- I found one that had 2,150mg of sodium. I somehow survived it. PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Has this been neglected because it isn't pinned, or is it no longer pinned because it has been neglected? Either way, I'm eating homemade Vegan Pizza, with spinach, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and Roma tomatoes.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Good eats, except I would've made it with pesto instead of tomato sauce.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2008 Just whipped up a batch of chili using spicy V8 juice, lean ground beef, chili seasoning, kidney beans, yellow onion, and yellow peppers. Hit the spot. I was out of almost all food earlier, so I had to improvise and wound up with a grilled chicken lettuce wrap with banana peppers, brown mustard, and a smidgen of light mayo. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 You never know. I lose and gain weight purely based on alcohol consumption. Today I had some glazed honey walnut prawns. I was very hungry, but man were they rich and just really heavy. I finished them, because they were good, and a little expensive, but I doubt I'll go for them again. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 27, 2008 Most of my food day yesterday was either nonexistent or entirely forgettable, because the only thing I remember was the fucking awesome dinner I made. I mentioned this in one of the other threads. This is what I got: This was called, I believe, Eggs St. Arnold. This was definitely NOT a healthy meal. What you see up there includes: * pan-fried tilapia- I made it lightly breaded with cornmeal and a bit of flour, seasoned with garlic and sea salt. * poached eggs- I never did it the old school way, doing it in a boiling saucepan. Came out pretty good; there's about 3 of them there. * hollandaise sauce- Used about 3 egg yolks and an assload of butter. Probably the most unhealthy part of my meal, but fuck was it good. * roasted asparagus- Pretty easy, just drizzled with olive oil, put a bit of salt on it, then put it in a 400o oven for about 10-12 minutes. Covered in hollandaise here. * garlic mashed potatoes- Easiest part of the whole shebang. This was (ashamedly) in a package from Trader Joe's; so it took about 5 minutes in a microwaveable container. Still turned out pretty good, though. And I drank about a bottle or so of Chardonnay with the meal. Or post-meal, rather. I had just a glass during it. I feel I could've matched up the wine better, but fuck it- this was like $5 at Whole Foods. I should mention that it was the first time I've ever made hollandaise sauce of poached eggs in that manner.

Dandy 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 This was on Saturday night at a wedding reception, but I didn't post it at the time: grilled chicken (stuffed with chopped spinach and most likely a mixture involving cream cheese) laid over a casserole of egg and potatoes, with French-style green beans Anyone have a clue what this tasty dish is called? I want to make it.

Had a 20 oz bottle of A&W Cream Soda in between meals. I try to limit my soda consumption but I had to make an exception. I hadn't had this ina ages. Great stuff. Dinner: Stir fried chicken with veggies and brown rice and another glass of water. I might fix myself some nachos with sour cream later tonight

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 11, 2008 Weird fuckin day of eatin' going on. I had a lunch at a vegan deli today, as I'm trying to survive almost entirely on grains and vegetables lately (survivalist thing) and it was fucking GOOD. They had this tofu which, I shit you not, tasted like curry chicken. It was like sesame something or other. I threw that in some mixed greens with carrots and this ginger something sauce which was amazing. I then put a spinach and beet salad with vegan ranch dressing on top, also amazing. I'm really coming around to liking beets a lot, and they work exquisitely well with spinach as a side dish/salad. After that, there was a potato salad, which I normally get excited about but then I realized I like potato salads for two things: mayo and hard boiled eggs. Both definitively NOT VEGAN. Blech. Too much dill, and then came my mortal enemy chopped celery. No thanks. It might've been okay otherwise, but I should've opted for the vegan macaroni salad instead since that wouldn't have anything I'd object to as strongly as fucking celery. Oh, and for dinner, I had myself some stuffed vegetarian grape leaves (stuffed with a quinoa pilaf that included basil, red onion, and some olive oil and tahini) with this AMAZING roasted sweet corn on the cob from the vegan deli that I heated up at home in the oven. Soo fucking good. I saved the rest of my pilaf with the corn for work tomorrow, but I have a feeling my coworkers would probably start staring at how much I love the fucking corn (I was biting into it and sucking out the juices long after the kernels were gone- I have no idea what the hell they put in that thing, maybe coke or weed or something, but it was amazing). And I've had about half-2/3rds of a bottle of Pinot Grigio so far, probably going to drink the rest before the night is over. Will promise not to delete all of your accounts in the meantime. Good night!
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted July 11, 2008 Survivalist thing? I have a challenge for you. A hard challenge, actually. I tried to go a week only eating and drinking things I found in nature. Made it four days before I got dehydrated from drinking only dew collected in a tin can. Lost six pounds. The proteins were actually the easiest thing to get. I caught fish and shot a couple of rabbits. The rest of my diet was wild persimmons, hazelnuts, elderberries, mushrooms, and ants.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 13, 2008 I had a breakfast burrito, some leftovers of yesterday's pesto strozzapreti with tiger prawns, and now this: That's Pan Seared Salmon on a bed of fresh baby arugula tossed with a basic garlic vinaigrette (I make a 1/4 cup of half olive oil and half red wine vinegar, then toss in some salt, black pepper, basil, and a couple garlic clovers and let it sit for a while to let the flavors develop). All or most of these I bought at the farmer's market just today or last week; in fact I think the garlic and red onion were the only things I got last week. The salmon was sold at the market by this native american guy and his kid, and his kid was all fuckin' business. They caught all them last night, apparently. He gave me a good 1 1/2 pound chunk for $12 which still had some blood in it, it was so fresh. Came home and froze it to kill any parasites/bacteria then I took it out and thawed it, and de-boned it, trying out little slices of raw sashimi in the process. I will take on any of you for Iron Chef: TSM Edition. Especially Agent and NoCalMike.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted July 13, 2008 I can't get salmon that fresh out here. If I did, I sure as shit wouldn't freeze it. Fuck a parasite or bacteria. If I had a camera I'd be on this quick with some pork shanks and gorgonzola bbq sauce, or my spicy meat and noodle bullshit.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 13, 2008 To eat it raw? I don't want any of these fuckers crawling around my insides: I've had this salmon before fresh and frozen, and it tastes just the same (and I have a pretty good palatte). Maybe it's just that I usually cook it the same day anyways, or something, but I'm anal about cleanliness in the kitchen, so yeah. I'd like to see the spicy meat and noodle. How do you make a gorgonzola bbq sauce? I can think of some recipes I have that would benefit from that. Iron Chef: TSM Edition needs to happen.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted July 13, 2008 I missed your sashimi comment. Regarding wanting one of those crawling around your insides, there's something like a 60% chance that you already do. I'm not going to share my entire bbq sauce recipe, because..I just can't. No one can. Besides, bbq is something so particular from person to person and area to area that it's a subject of perpetual debate. It's way simpler than it sounds to make your own bbq sauce. Just google around and be prepared to spend a day in the kitchen. so To make the gorgonzola work, just use a thicker tomato-based sauce and crumble in the gorgonzola a little late in the cooking process. You don't want it to melt that much (well, at least I don't.) Use bigger crumbles and keep it so it's glossy and smooth with nice sized lumps. Shit's rich, so use it on a meat that can hold up. I typically braise pork shanks, or anything with a lot of fat content that will end up with that gelatinous fat around the edges that's so rich and delicious I just want to rub it on my face.
