Oh, shit. I spent the entire night trying to remember who was the other black chick and just now, after seeing her, realized it was Jordin. I guess being under the radar isn't a bad place.

 

Right now this show belongs to Melina/Lakisha with Blake/Gina below them and the rest are muddled together. Haley avoids being last by virture of her looks as does Sligh but on the other spectrum. Stephanie is probably the weakest black singer depending on how badly Jordin comes out here. Which will hurt her since it's been agreed that the men blown and voters might just jump to ship her over.

 

Right now, I can only see 4 people having a real shot.

I don't think Jordin did herself any favors there. This sounded like a Disney theme park/Disneyland commercial performance to me. All we needed was Mickey Mouse in the corner and Tinkerbell flying through the skies as the website and phone number showed on the bottom of the screen.

It was a Disney movie, wasn't it? (At least animated, which for most people is all the same). Jordin is easily in the top 6 right now but again, such a drop from 1&2, 2&3 with the other three well below them and the rest are smashed together even lower.

Kudos to the hair people. Lakisha's hair just about made her face as nice as its going to get, and they very much dolled up Jordin.

Jordin has the most mainstream voice out of any of the women, imo. She may get the most of the fallout between Lakisha/Melinda, and when the themes change to more pop stuff. I am not convinced by Gina, though. Maybe I've missed a few of her performances.

I thought Jordins reaction to the judges comments, the light in her face, the open mouth getting covered with her hands, was enough to show a brightness in her personality that reflects a certain youth that you don't have with the other girls. They are definitely playing that up with the dress and the hair. Even Stephanie, who is under 20, comes off as much older, and definitely (at least tonight) reps the most sex appeal. And Lakisha and Melinda come off as vets.

I know this isn't popular but I don't like Melinda. She's fine but she has no special quality that makes her a IDOL. She would have been great in a prior generation but the objective of this specific show doesn't suit her enough.

Even though Doolittle is easily the best singer I've heard in 3 seasons watching this... I think if she were competing either of the past 2 years, she'd be gone in the 4-8 range. Where the popular kids knock out the talented singers.

 

But, there's no extremely popular or attractive or engaging personality people.

I have to admit the theme of this week is what made the majority of people suck. Let's face it, going in you know most anyone that's white is going to have a bit of a problem. I like Gina, but she's totally not right for Motown stuff. This is my own preference, but I have never much cared for the Supremes or Motown in general. When it comes to oldies stations, I actually turn the station when most of it comes on. It's so utterly played out, and frankly all of the backing music is too samey (after all, same studio musicians).

 

But yeah, Brandon is likely toast. The dude had several whammys going for him: 1. He screwed up the words. 2. He went on first, thus gave us that initial awful performance that is the kiss of death. 3. He's black and tanked with Motown.

 

Simon is the man by the way. I have been dying for someone to finally trash Chris Richardson. And I also agreed that Haley wasn't all that bad.
