cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 You know the saddest part of tonight? I thought a few of the contestants were actually better than Diana Ross herself.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 no doubt, that was a horrible performance...hopefully her fans saw and realized they better not spend money on her tour.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 (edited) so apparently it's British songs next week Did they say British Invasion or BritPop? Because I know British Invasion won't be pretty with this group. With BritPop, if Sanjaya destroys a 5ive song, it's likely noone would care. Of course, it's Sanjaya, he'll try and destroy a Robbie or Joss Stone song. Edit: Did a check of IdolForum - the theme is British Invasion, so theoretically it should be the Beatles, the Stones, etc. But you know it's gonna be chock full of Duran Duran and Erasure. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 I have no issues with Duran Duran...if someone sings "Come Undone", they better NOT butcher it!
starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 I have no issues with Duran Duran...if someone sings "Come Undone", they better NOT butcher it! Nor I, really. Unsurprising given the era you and I grew up in. I'm just saying that Duran Duran really isn't what I'd call "British Invasion", you know? Although I suppose that the 80s were a bit (to put it mildly) of a British Invasion...
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 I think that the British Invasion refers to the Beatles and Stones and so on.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 I'll call Lakisha doing Satisfaction right now.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 Just wondering but is there a special guest for this? Jagger or Richards showing up? McCartney? I'd love to hear the advice from Keith Richards, haha. He's not really the singer though, so he wouldn't be there.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 Jagger's not really a singer, either. ZING!

ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2007 I have no issues with Duran Duran...if someone sings "Come Undone", they better NOT butcher it! Nor I, really. Unsurprising given the era you and I grew up in. I'm just saying that Duran Duran really isn't what I'd call "British Invasion", you know? Although I suppose that the 80s were a bit (to put it mildly) of a British Invasion... I've seen the Duran Duran 80's stuff (along with the other British new wave stuff from that period) referred to as the second British invasion. So I haven't been keeping up with American Idol at all this season after the initial auditions due to being so insanely busy with school. What's the deal this time? Anyone a complete shoe in to win? Is there anyone who it's a crime that they're even on this show?
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2007 As far as pure vocal talent, it's a race to see who's gonna be runner-up to Melinda the Background Singer.

godthedog 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2007 lakisha needs to do "oh! darling" by the beatles. that would be some good shit. sanjaya should do "i'm into something good" by herman's hermits. chris sligh should do something by the animals. preferably "boom boom." blake should get over his fear of real instruments & do something safe, but he'll probably fuck it up completely by trying to turn "time is on my side" into an aphex twin song or something. chris richardson should...i'm sorry, i was nodding off in boredom as i typed his name. melinda should do "got to get you into my life" (beatles again--note how the best songs go to the best singers). good rock song with a really horn-heavy, r & b-inflected sound. if gina could pull off "satisfaction" and successfully alternate between sultry/low and angry/high, she could steal the show. jordin...probably something cutesy like "i want to hold your hand." maybe she'll find a loophole and do "please mister postman." phil would do good with "gimme some lovin" by the spencer davis group. i'm sure there's more contestants, but i can't remember them. they should all do "paint it black." Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2007 What exactly fits for the theme? Can they do current British acts? Because I have to figure Blake would be chomping at the bit to do Coldpay.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 That was a border-line stripper routine. I am ALL in favour of this for a few more weeks. Fine work. Would I be wrong in saying Richardsons voice is nasally? YES, SIMON JUST SAID IT. "...I've never heard the song before" best Simon line... so far. "You naughty lil thing" was ok, though it didn't have Haley puzzling over the last word like last year.
