favourite movie trailers?

Recommended Posts

The trailer for Wicker Park completely fooled me into thinking it would be some thriller about a crazed chick. If I had remembered that there was a movie called Wicker Park before that and it was a romance movie, I would have avoided this one. The trailer made it look like it had potential to be a great suspenseful film.

Instead me and about 30 other people let out a loud groan as we realized we'd been duped into a date movie. It was a god damn guy trap and I will never trust Josh Hartnett again. That bastard.

Independence Day, with Hans Zimmer's motif from Crimson Tide made really helped get people more excited for the movie.

The Star Wars Teasers from SE 97-Ep III were fantastic, especially Phantom, sure the movie sucked but who didn't mark out when that premired in Fall 98?

The City of Lost Children trailer is easily the best I've ever seen.

Second is probably Big Lebowski.

These were the trailers where I had no idea about the movie at all, and I said I MUST SEE THIS NOW.

Thankfully both were really good movies. The trailers are eaily found on youTube.

Wait, that wasn't about a crazy chick???? Jesus.

Same sort of thing happened with Bruce Almighty. The trailer made it look like it was just about this guy with powers from God and what he can do with them.

I go to the movies with three of my friends and we are sitting there watching it. At one point, I learn over to my friend Mark and was like "Jesus Christ, this is a fuckin romantic comedy! WTF?"

In terms of misleading trailers:

Excorcism of Emily Rose was apparently a legal drama.

Primeval is apparently a giant crocodile movie.

Why would you mislead your viewers as to the nature of your film? Oh, yeah. A giant crocodile movie is stupid. THEN DON'T MAKE IT.

Annapolis is basically a boxing movie. It actually wasn't that bad. I think if they marketed it as a boxing movie, it might have done better.

For most of the films I've watched, it's been without any preview at all. I recommend this tactic.

My faves.

X2: X-Men United

Batman Begins

X3: The Last Stand (teaser)

Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride (watched at least 25 times when it came out)

The Faculty

Ultraviolet

Sin City

Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Look 'em up on youtube if you wanna see 'em.

Recently I've been digging the Hills Have Eyes 2 trailer, mainly because of the song in the background.

Word. Although the teaser is probably better than the actual film will turn out to be.

Speaking of teasers, I liked the "Spinning in his grave" trailer for the South Park movie

yea same reaction here, me and my pal were sorta pissed and felt ripped off abit when it turned into both a romantic story and a "moral" story

the only thing that comes to mind right now is maybe the trailer for Men In Black in 1997? if nothing else it made me go see the movie.

I got duped with that one, too. Me and my lady were watching "Children of Men" and during the previews, Devendra Banhart comes on and they have all this stark desert-y footage and I'm like "Holy shit! We gotta go see that movie!" and then it was "The Hills Have Eyes 2". Yeesh...

As for recent movies that had good trailers, the trailer for "Apocalypto" had me really interested to see it.
