Matt Young Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 It's entitled Year Zero, and is set to be released on April 17th. Also, their DVD, Live: Beside You In Time comes out on February 27th.
Matt Young Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 Um, yeah. There are 5 people in the band, even if it is 99% Reznor.
Sideburnious Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I'm looking forward to this but mostly just shocked he got it out passed mixing. Sure he had all the tracks recorded before x-mas, but I was convinced he'd spend the usual 2-3 years mixing it and getting it right. I think he's realised that he's getting old and doesn't want to be doing this forever (well preforming, I'm sure he'll keep producing).
Matt Young Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 Yeah, the gap between With Teeth and this album is about half the usual length of 5 years.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I'm not sure how I'd feel if I were in my 40s and still making music like this. Probably disappointed in myself, but also very rich.
Gary Floyd Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Eh, I'd go on about how NIN isn't really Industrial, and that Reznor is a tool, but I'll skip that.
Sideburnious Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 To be honest, I think he's sort of gotten "out of it" in that "fuck everybody" mindframe. Anytime one of his fans start talking shit he usually asks them what the fuck they're on about. Probably what reflects this is some of the weaker tracks off With Teeth (the collector, love is not enough) where it feels like he's writing songs that he thinks his fans want, but he has no real connection in how he feels and what he's writing. I think this'll be an album that'll probably just come out as opposed to having alot of press and build up. A bit like Amnesiac after Kid-A.

UZI Suicide Posted February 26, 2007 Report Posted February 26, 2007 In This Twilight is such a beautiful song.
Epic Reine Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 I think NIN's music is amazing but Reznor's lyrics can get pretty lame like he's trying too hard to rhyme every word. The lyrics for "The Perfect Drug" sound like a hair metal song.

Gary Floyd Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Zero_%28album%29 Reznor's also supposed to be producing the next Saul Williams album. He's also appearing on a song on El-P's next album.

snuffbox Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Hopefully the Saul/Reznor cd will be out later this year.
AmericanDragon Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 The album has leaked on torrents and now you can listen to the entire album at the official site. http://yearzero.nin.com/
UZI Suicide Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Album sounds incredible. I'm loving "Capital G" and "God Given"
cd213 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I listened to the album 2 times yesterday. It is amazing. It might be the best album since Pretty Hate Machine, IMO.
Sideburnious Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 It's definatly back to those old roots. Very synthy/industrial as opposed to a more "metal" angle With Teeth have. It definatly seems this album is more for his fans than the mainstream.
