I don't know if it is bearnie Bickerstaff of the owners but Charlotte is going to have to come up off of it if they want to build a team. If they let Gerald Wallace walk this offseason (he can opt out of the final two years of his contract) this team will be clippers part II

Malik Rose for Nazr Mohammed Pt. II Tyson Chandler is a huge reason for the Hornets being in it. 1st in the league in offensive rebounding and 2nd overall behind KG, 14th in blocks and trending upwards, and he'd be tied with David Lee for the lead in FG% if he had enough attempts. He had a bit of a slow start but has been an absolute beast over the last two months. Bulls fans must love seeing both him and Curry come into their own outside of the Windy City

Padgett wasn't getting many minutes anyway since Chuck Hayes has become the team garbage-man, which is all Padgett ever did. The difference is Hayes is actually improving.

And the near unanimous picks were Dalls, Phoenix, San Antonio, L.A. Lakers, and Houston Rockets. Hit that fast forward button and we're in February now. Who's the top 5 now? Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio are pretty much DUHs. I think Utah has crept into that spot. I'll put Houston there for right now since L.A. has been floundering a bit. Does anyone in the East really want to play Toronto right now? After Chicago made that comeback, I figured they would fold fast. But they stayed with it and won the game. They've won 11 out of 14 and now sit above the rest of the Atlantic. Not a great seat, but still, it's they're a conference leader with confidence right now. And in the East, that's all you can ask for right now.

Smush is starting to blow again. 2. Lamar coming back kinda fucked everything up. He's playing like shit, and it's really hurting the team, because he's invisible out there. 3. We need Luke Walton back. That all said, I'm still happy. They're in the best playoff position, one that can keep them from Phoenix or Dallas in the first round.
naiwf Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Utah w/o Boozer isn't a big threat in my eyes, so I'd keep the same Top 5 in the West with Utah at a solid #6. If Carlos comes back healthy and rested, I think they could be a major threat for any of the teams out West in the playoffs.
Just John Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 My top 5 would be exactly as they are in the seedings. Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio, Utah, and Houston. The Lakers are finally coming back to earth and realizing they're not that good. Sure, you've got Kobe, but as has been the question since Shaq left, who else? Lamar Odom has always been inconsistent and isn't going to make or break a championship run. Smush Parker is fucking terrible. Bynum has potential, but he's still young and makes too many mistakes. When your fans are anxiously waiting for Luke Walton to return to the starting lineup, you probably don't have a real threat of a team. They're probably gone in the first round, no matter who they play. Dallas and Phoenix require no explanation. San Antonio is lazy right now, but they're a proven, veteran team that is capable of turning it on in the playoffs. They could still beat either of the top two. People are dismissing these guys way too quickly. I have them right behind Dallas as the best shot to win the West. Utah will get Boozer back, and they're still playing well without him. Though controversial and aggravating, their defense is among the most effective in the league. They're still young, but have good chemistry and veterans on their bench. They've also proven they can light up the scoreboard if the game goes that way, so you can't completely count them out in any series, though I'd give them slim odds against Dallas or San Antonio. When Yao Ming went down in December, I was just hoping the Rockets would tread water and stay in the 6-8 range before making a push at the end of the year. However, it looks like they'll finish no lower than 5, and are very close to catching San Antonio for a top 4 spot. Having injuries to both superstars at different times of the year could be a huge advantage if they're both healthy in the playoffs, as Van Gundy could go with lots of different lineups based around T-Mac, Yao, or both. Minus Rafer Alston, the role players offer consistency and defense. If Bonzi gets into good shape and you can put him on the floor with Yao, T-Mac, and Battier, you have a pretty killer starting lineup. I see them being one of the tougher matchups for San Antonio, though the chances of beating Dallas, and especially Phoenix, go way down after that.
Ripper Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Utah is playing almost better without Boozer. Its putting the ball in Okurs hands more often(and his is a monster mismatch) and Kirelinko is getting more involved offensively, which in turn is making him pick it up defensively.

Pacers win, Bulls lose, putting the Pacers percentage points ahead for 5th in the East. We could possibly go into the break just a game and a half behind the Cavs, with them playing in Utah tonight and LA tommorrow. Rick Carlisle in the postgame press conference: "65 points off the bench...that's a shitload of points!"

A bad defensive breakdown with Terry getting a wide open shot, and then Alston and Head attempting the "game-winners." Yuck.
