foleyfanforever88 Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Ok so..you are being held captive for 10 years in a room that contains only a TV (w/o cable), a DVD player, a CD player, and a universal video game console. You will be fed regularly, but otherwise you get nothing from the outside world. You are allowed to bring with you the following things: 10 DVDs 10 Video Games 10 Books 10 CDs What do you bring?
foleyfanforever88 Posted February 14, 2007 Author Report Posted February 14, 2007 By the way, bringing an artist's ultimate collection of 12 CDs or something like the complete Wrestlemania Anthology counts as more than one CD or DVD. But if you wanted to bring an extended edition of a DVD that is on 3 disks or something thats ok.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 5,256,000 minutes to entertain yourself with only 40 items altogether? No thanks.
Art Sandusky Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Eating and sleeping take time too, so it's not as bad as you'd think.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Still... ten years with only 40 items? I know this is a "Desert Island" hypothetical, but damn. Not a pleasant situation to be in.
Art Sandusky Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 I'd probably start making art on the walls with my blood around the eighth or ninth year.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I'm interested to find out if we get to take showers, have access to sunlight, etc. Important factors all in determining whether I bring Niggaz4life or not.

2GOLD Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 World of Warcraft. It seems intent on wasting ten years of your life anyway and it's loophole to the no contact with the outside world because it's a video game. Course, it would involve me playing World of Warcraft.... I'd slit my wrists with a Linkin Park DVD (it seems fitting) while Sinatra's angry ass played my out of the scene.
foleyfanforever88 Posted February 15, 2007 Author Report Posted February 15, 2007 Ok, fuck you guys. Make it a year.
Ravenbomb Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I thought about WoW, but figured it'd get discounted since it'd be contact with the outside world.
foleyfanforever88 Posted February 15, 2007 Author Report Posted February 15, 2007 The only one of those categories I've figured out so far is the video games... Mario Kart: Double Dash Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Super Mario 64 Perfect Dark Viewtiful Joe Metroid Prime 007: Everything or Nothing Halo GTA 3 Soul Calibur 2
Henry Spencer Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I'll take a stab at this, why not. DVDs: Buffalo '66 Eraserhead Last Year At Marienbad My Own Private Idaho Alphaville The Trail (Orson Welles version (high five, Ravenbomb!)) 8 1/2 Movern Callar Blue Velvet Mulholland Drive CDs: Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin Lou Reed - Transformer Wu Tang Clan - 36 Chambers Galaxie 500 - On Fire The Raincoats - Odyshape Public Image LTD. - Second Edition Television - Marquee Moon Can - Ege Bamyasi The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico Books: Henry Miller - Tropic Of Cancer Jean Genet - Our Lady Of The Flowers Franz Kafka - The Trial Albert Camus - The Fall Sherwood Anderson - Winesburg, Ohio Gabriel Garcia Marquez - 100 Years Of Solitude Fyodor Dostoyevsky - Notes From Underground Balzac - Eugenie Grandet Andre Breton - Nadja William Burroughs - Naked Lunch Video games: Sonic The Hedgehog Bionic Commando The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Katamari Damacy Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Earthbound Mario Kart 64 Final Fantasy Guitar Hero Battletoads That video game list was hard. As you can probably tell, I'm no enthusiast. My interest in video games is primarily nostalgic, and as I grew up with mostly Nintendo systems, the bias is obvious (with the notable exception of my favorite game series ever, Sonic the Hedgehog).
Star Ocean 3 Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I managed to come up with 6 Xenogears-related books, including the script, but only 3 CDs. Apparently there's some kind of DVD but it could be a bootleg. As for video games, I had nothing.
AboveAverage484 Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 DVD's: Godfather Godfather Part II Platoon Goodfellas Lonesome Dove Home Alone (for Christmas) If television series count, Sopranos Season 1 fills it out, if not: Saving Private Ryan Forrest Gump Casino Titanic (in case a chick gets stranded on here with me; but if that was the case i wouldn't need all this shit would I? CD's: Springsteen's first seven albums A couple Smiths albums (Queen Is Dead and probably some sort of compilation) Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction Video Games: Fire Pro Wrestling D Link to the Past Mario Kart Ocarina of Time Goldeneye Mario 64 Super Mario Bros. One of the Maddens Zombies Ate My Neighbors Uhhh, WWF No Mercy I guess Books: "Lonesome Dove" "Fields of Fire" Probably a bunch of WWII/Civil War books Maybe some graphic novels
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I'm surprised people would just be content with remaining for a year. I'd have brought books, movies, etc about how to break out or disable your captors.
Failed Bridge Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I thought about WoW, but figured it'd get discounted since it'd be contact with the outside world. Have you met the people that spend their lives playing this? You don't need to worry about them updating you on the outside world.

Man Who Sold The World Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Would I be allowed to get high? That was a serious question.
foleyfanforever88 Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 Would I be allowed to get high? That was a serious question. Umm..you wouldn't know until you get there with your items.
Brett Favre Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 You're being held captive. Stop complaining, atleast they are giving you something. But if it's 10 years, I need to get the newest version of whatever sports game I have (Madden, NBA 2K series, whatever MLB game I decide on, FIFA), and i'll add GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, Bully, Mario Party 4 since it's a universal console, and Smackdown vs. RAW (updated if it's 10 years). For CDs, i'd go with Wu-Tang CDs (36 Chambers, Wu-Tang Forever, The W), Liquid Swords, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, System of a Down (Toxicity), Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem Show, and Illmatic (Nas). For DVDs, i'd go with Fight Club, Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary, The Departed, Batman Begins, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Chappelle's Show Season 2, WrestleMania The Complete Anthology, and um eh, Malcolm in the Middle Season 1. As far as books, just give me the Harry Potter set and i'll stretch it out.
Vigo Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Not sure what all my DVD's would be yet but I'd make sure at least one of them was a porno because I just don't have that good of a imagination.
AboveAverage484 Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 Not sure what all my DVD's would be yet but I'd make sure at least one of them was a porno because I just don't have that good of a imagination. Good thinking on the porno. Better make sure it's a comp too, otherwise it would get boring watching the same four or five scenes over and over again.
Special K Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Physician’s Desk Reference hollowed out. Inside: Waterproof matches, iodine tables, beet seeds, protein bars, NASA blanket and, in case I get bored, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
