this was an interesting episode, considering there wasn't much to talk about. Johnny's deadpan reactions and hating on Clark's work schedule make the show. If you want to write an armbar, please don't let people force you to over describe the hold... that just leads to awkward filler.

Nah, Johnny's problem isn't that he over-describes moves, it's that he mis-describes them... For instance, he might call an armbar a "collateral bicep clutch," or something... ;)

You're still my boy, Blue!

Hey Johnny, do you do that deadpan thing on purpose, or do you actually not get people's jokes?

EDIT - and yes, the Bird Dropping is essentially a "Whoopie Cushion." or, as I prefer to think of it (since I didn't like face Doink), an Earthquake splash done from the top rope. I didn't describe it because I felt as though I'd gone through enough trouble to describe it over the course of both of the Birdman periods that I don't feel as though I should have to describe the move exactly every time I write a match... I don't describe the Wild Ride every match either, as I figure that I've been around long enough and have written enough matches for other people to know what it is; it's not like we've got ten new writers that have never seen the move in use before...

1. You'd have to point out examples because I'm not too sure what your talking about. Most likely I just didn't catch what he said. The volume that you hear the folks calling in isn't all that loud. Sorry.

2. I was more specficially refering to moves that you don't see all too often. You don't have to describe wristlocks, waistlocks or even the Wild Ride - most people know what that is. I'm talking more about the holds or moves that are totally foreign to me, like Flesher's cement mixer for example. If he never described it I wouldn't have any sort of ideaas to what that is. Hell it took me forever to realzie what a Drop Toe Hold was and I'd probably never know what a Topé is if I hadn't met you.

I'm just not good at remember all the moves from their names. If I see them I know what you're talking about...I just don't seem to attach correct names to what I'm describing all the time.

Since I'm commenting on Skull Radio:

I don't think that Jimmy the Doom is all that hard to write. In the match that I actually showed against her/him, I feel like I had a good grasp of the character, writing purely based on what was in the stats. The only thing was that I completely and consciously no-sold the "sound effects." I think I maybe kinda-sorta understand why Drea does it (way to put myself out on a limb there), and it works for Drea, but it doesn't work for me, and when I get my rematch, I'm not putting any of those "sound effects" in that, either.

By the way (speaking of rematches), I believe you said something on last week's episode of Skull Radio about Drea's match being written in such a way that it left open the possibility of a rematch, which led me to ask myself: how could it have possibly been written to where I shouldn't have been entitled to a rematch?

Makes sense for you (And anyone else) to not use the sound effects because it's my thing as a writer. I don't/didn't use Red Herrington as a ref because it's not my thing.

Of course, I'm not saying that nobody should try to use my sound effects, it's just that nobody should feel forced to use them.

Finally, I will totally rematch you, and I bet I'll totally lose because I totally got lucky this time around with totally unavoidable circumstances on your part preventing you totally from showing. Totally.

To build on what Alan was mentioning in your match, Johnny, I think that part of the issue could be the fact that the DFA really hasn't been well established as a deadly move; you haven't hardly used it. And, unlike other people's rare moves, on the rare occasions that you have used it, it hasn't been built as a move of consequence.

And yes, kicking someone in the nuts is cheating. Even when Landon does it... Just like when Hogan used to rake the eyes.

Hogan had a ton of heel moves for being such a loved guy in the 80s. Rake the eyes...the back... he choked out Rick Martel during the 92 Rumble with his shirt, although at least that is no DQ...(but Duggan didn't use his 2x4)

and, ANYWAY, Johnny should use a jetpack. Right?

And Alan, no we will not write a joke match: even if Johnny were so inclined, which he doesn't appear to be, I detest joke matches, and would invoke veto if he tried to pitch it to me.

You guys need that "A Current Affair" soundbyte. When Spike announced he was coming back, you should have played that.

And, since Clark brought it up, I only started listening at the bottom of the hour; I've been watching basketball all day.

EDIT - And I can no longer hear, so I'm going to go back to watching basketball, and I'll listen to the archive later.
