Boner Kawanger Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 When my Comcast update our OnDemand to include around three folders for True Blood, we lost the Entourage folder. It's terrible. Unlike last night's episode which redeemed the last few episodes in my mind. As someone who has been forced by mushrooms to communicate only via handwritten notes, I felt like they nailed the whole tripping aspect. I was so gad that it wasn't shot with weird lenses and colors. The very real balanced well with the (completely and bizarrely out of nowhere) Eric Roberts cameo. I'll be honest, some of his role was borderline distracting, but I still loved it. I wonder if it was written for Gary Busey? Also, we're four for four on nudity. My roommate's put himself in charge of keeping up with it, apparently.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Correction: porn star nudity. And I also totally got a Busey vibe from the E.R storyline.
Boner Kawanger Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Hey, I know porn star titties when I see 'em. I don't need 'em pointed out towards me. I mean, to me.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 That Malcolm X baseball jersey Eric Roberts was wearing, was awesome.
Guest Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The Roberts storyline had to have been written for Busey. If Busey was around, they would've showed much more of him than they did of Roberts. And that would've been great.
Youth N Asia Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I seem to feel the opposite as others about this episode. It felt lazy to me. Let's have the boys take shrooms and trip balls in 20 minutes. The writing didn't even have to be good if they were just going to say things inspired by mushrooms in the first place. Least favorite episode of the season so far
1234-5678 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I'm just waiting for when they show what a meltdown Walsh had....if they do at all anyways.
Black Lushus Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Ugh, I was reading on Wiki, so take it for what it's worth (though it IS sourced), that Dom will be back for an episode or two.
Black Lushus Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Rats...I'm still playing catch up, haven't gotten that far yet, and of course OnDemand doesn't show previews.
Youth N Asia Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I could do without Dom. I know he's played up where the fans are not supposed to like him. But I don't think he adds anying to the show
Boner Kawanger Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I hate Dom and don't really like Phil Mickelson either, this is looking bad for me.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Man, they went all out to get us to like/feel bad for Dom in this episode, huh?
Boner Kawanger Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Between Ari learning a very important lesson and E also leaning a very important lesson, this was more maudlin than an episode of MASH. I also learned a very important lesson: I need to find something better to do Sundays at 9.
Craig Th Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 It was pretty obvious that Alan was gonna kick the can there at the end.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Easily the worst episode of the season, on par with some of the worst they've done, period. I don't care about Dom being a family man, Phil Mickelson is a douchebag and seeing Drama bully Turtle around was stupid.
the pinjockey Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Was there any point to the Dom storyline other than the creator being all BUTT hurt because the character bombed last year?
Lord of The Curry Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Pretty much no. They did talk about Dom 'redeeming' himself so we can only assume he does something that brings Vince back into the spotlight. Whomever had the idea (I think it was at another board) that Dom gives E a script he wrote and it's a huge hit was on the right track.
Mik Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 C'mon, "You know how angry I get when my blood sugar drops" is a damn great line.
Mik Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 That scene between Ari and Vince was actually really emotional. Couple that with my favorite Radiohead song and it made for probably my favorite end of an Entourage episode ever. I like where they're going here with Ari.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I'll pretty much echo that. The buildup to what transpired at the end was very solid but the Ari/Vince scene was some of the best stuff this show has done, emotionally in a long time. They rarely go that deep but went there tonight. And of course hearing Fake Plastic Trees was fucking amazing.
Craig Th Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 I have a feeling Ari isn't going to get the job. That would just be toooo good for Vince. Ari would give him role after role after role. But who was that guy Ari was talking to? I thought I heard him say he was going to make a bid to buy the company. What's did the preview for next week say? I download the episode and they don't include that.
1234-5678 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 At least Ari taking the job kind of changes the formula for the show....it's gotten kind of stale.
Lord of The Curry Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I hope Ari takes the job simply because, like Jaxl said it would change the shows dynamic. Plus seeing Ari in an actual big-show role I imagine would be very tempting for the writers.
Black Lushus Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I don't understand Vince's attitude about it. Yeah, you lose your agent, but the bigger picture is so much better.
DrVenkman PhD Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Was that a Max Payne trailer on the TV on Ari's office? My digital guide lists Gary Cole as a guest star in two weeks, so hooray!
Lord of The Curry Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Almost misread that as Gary Coleman.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I missed it, who were the writers that rewrote The Hobbit?
Lord of The Curry Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I don't know if they were really known actors or what. I thought one dude for a second was Josh Lucas.
