The OAO Raw 5/7/07 Thread

What happens if the briefcase didn't have the contract inside it? Edge would be carrying around an empty briefcase with no title contract.

While that would be the super ultimate heel move on Kennedy's part to take out the contract, and when Edge goes to cash in theres like dust or something, but the match was for the Contract, not the briefcase..

If this match could go an extra 10 minutes, I could see Edge cashing it in after Orton wore out Cena for him but the match isn't long enough for that to happen realistically. Plus then theyd have to do Edge/Kahli..lol

They could have written Kennedy off without having Edge get another pointless win. As good as a face Kennedy can be against a heel Edge, that wouldn't happen until a long time down the road. Kennedy could have easily gone the retirement route just to be a dick and assure that he doesn't get injured leading to WM. Edge doesn't need the MitB. He's already deserved a billion shots according to him and its never stopped him from getting shots.

Now, if the idea is for Edge to jump over and become Batista's new foil, it might redeem itself but I can't trust WWE to do it.

Edge fucking over Batista on FNS will have me avoiding all spoilers and watching Smackdown! live for the first time since December.

I was just thinking that....SmackDown! Deserves a non Spoiler thread then

I can only pray that in four-five years a new "Attitude Era" will begin when things like Old Man Michaels, Unbeatable Hero John Cena, and Smackdown B-Show will be made fun of by the new WWE Main Eventers.

The term "buried" is thrown around way to much. This definetly not a burial, but a way (lame) to get the MITB off of Kennedy. Its too bad Kennedy is injured, but this gives Edge something to do that isnt involved with Cena, Orton or HBK. This could led to some interesting things in the next coming months for Edge and Mr. Kennedy. Im going to seeing how this plays before I get all mad

Cena beats Orton, and then Orton beats up Cena with a chair after the match and Edge runs out and gets the pin. Edge wins the title tonight?

Thanks.

"They could have written Kennedy off without having Edge get another pointless win."

Not when they want Batista to chase the title they couldn't. Edge's MITB win screams "MITB-caused title change". It's almost a lock Edge wins the title Friday.

It should've been built to better, but it had to be rushed onto Raw. No one watches ECW.

In 4 years John Cena will probably still be the #1 guy.......

The cage match will be a clusterfuck anyway with Mark Henry probably interfering.

I could see Edge cashing in and Mark Henry beating the crap out of him too.

Theres too many good ways WWF could go with this that they'll logically choose the stupidest option which probably involves Mark Henry beating Edge for MITB or something.

Edge would never fuck around in the WWE Title picture tonight, too many guys out there, plus a psychotic 7'5" giant with the title belt.

Where can he be sure he gets a perfectly sneaky title win where the babyface's friends and enemies can't fuck it up? In a cage...

Well, to be fair, 4 years after people got tired of Hulkamania and he was gone from WWE, he was still the #1 guy, just elsewhere. But WWE's characters and matches are just so bland.

Edge almost has to pin Taker..

and that would be cool because it could lead to Taker coming back and winning the RR..Edge vs Taker at WM 24..if only Edge hadn't lost..doh..

Even though Kennedy is injured, do they really need to strip him of his MITB shot? Why not keep him on TV doing promos like he's pretty much been doing since he won the shot? As time goes by, it could've really created a ton of heat for Kennedy, and the fans could really start to get on his case more and more. Then once he's healthy he can start wrestling once again, and no "casual" fan would even know that he was ever hurt.

They could still have Edge move to SD this week to take the title, even without the MITB shot. There's a million different ways they could've done it.

That said, I like the idea of Edge winning the title on SD this week, holding it to WM, and having Kennedy win the Royal Rumble and go after Edge that way, for the title and for revenge.

From PWInsider:

For those wondering why Ken Kennedy lost the Money in the Bank briefcase to Edge and was completely laid out tonight during Monday Night Raw, the reason is Kennedy suffered a horrible tricep tear over the weekend, tearing it right off the bone during a house show in Poughkeepsie, New York Kennedy is scheduled to undergo surgery shortly and is expected to out of the ring for an estimated five to seven months.

Given the way he was written out, one would think Kennedy be returning a babyface but given the way the company changes plans daily, I wouldn't consider that a given until it happens.

That's perfect, just in time for the Royal Rumble. :)

"Even though Kennedy is injured, do they really need to strip him of his MITB shot?"

No, if Taker wasn't hurt, this most likely wouldn't have happened. But now they need to fill 2 main event spot on SD!, and only have Mark Henry to fill the "upper mid-card role" that Kennedy had. Edge takes Taker's spot as Batista's main foil.

It sucks, hurts Kennedy's credibility big time, slightly hurts the MITB concept, but will lead to a fun SD! main event.

They probably had Kennedy look like shit tonight because this is twice he's gotten injured after they decided to "God Push" him.

I get what you're saying, but still, nothing I can see forced them to strip Kennedy of his MITB shot. Edge doesn't need that to be moved over to SD.

But like I said, I like what they've done as long as Kennedy returns in the Rumble, wins, and goes after Edge for WM that way.

Get ready for the Mr Kennedy Returns at the Royal Rumble Countdown.

I cant see them doing everything right (Kennedy returns, wins the RR, challenges champion Edge after what happened tonight) as it would almost be too perfect.

Yeah, it's far too perfect for WWE to actually do. They have, in their hands, the perfect long term storyline, and I bet they totally shit it away.

So how will they play it up on SD with Edge? Will they have Batista beat Taker to win the title, then have Edge come out and pin Batista, or will they have Taker beat Batista, once again, and then have Edge pin Taker?

They could do a bit where Taker wins, and after the match Mark Henry runs out to take out Batista setting up a feud for those two, and Edge comes out to beat Taker, that way Edge's first feud on SD could be against someone else other than Batista.

Not having any idea that Kennedy was hurt I figured they were doing a mass burial of the guy tonight, so anyone who suggested that he's getting buried seems correct in my view. Hell, I think they would have done this tonight anyway since Kennedy isn't exactly a main event level guy right now (which was the initial point of doing the year long build to his WM shot). Let's face it, it looks goofy for a guy to job clean to Matt Hardy one week and then cash in the MITB and beat Batista/UT the next. Smackdown is a show that needs immediate relief with UT ailing, and Edge is the most logical guy. Edge has been frozen out of the title scene on Raw and with his Orton issue buried there's nothing much for him left to do on the show, so why not put Edge on SD anyway?

It's obvious that Edge is jumping to SD tomorrow, cashing it in against a wounded winner of UT/Batista, and getting another ultra cheap title win. At least this time he won't have Cena there to ruin it.

They should have let Kennedy keep MITB and explained that he doesn't need to wrestle because he has his title shot and instead he's going to take a vacation from the ring to let his body heal and be in peak condition while the champion will be fighting every night sorta deal. However they probably needed to inject some star power on SD! and used the MITB to get Edge over there.

You know the problem with Kennedy waiting until WM next year anyway, especially with him hurt for 6 months? The guy currently has zero main event credibility. How is him sitting out 6 months going to make anyone think he's a viable main event guy for WM? Right now we have no earthly belief that he could actually pin UT or Batista with everything on the line, ditto Lashley.

Kennedy taking 6 months off and coming back to cash in a MITB we'd have likely forgotten is a blatant deus ex machina that would be tough to take seriously.

They never announced it as a title match, officially. Vince just said the four way winner would get a shot at him, not necessarily the belt.

I think that it was made clear that it was for the tiitle but I might be wrong, we'll find out tomorrow on Ecw when RVD stiffs the crap out of Vince's ass as a going away gift.

^^^ I certainly wouldnt mind seeing RVD taking some of his "potato shots" at Vince. What does he have to lose?

Shame Kennedy got hurt. I was really, REALLY looking forward to him possibly cashing in his title shot and winning the gold tomorrow. Heres to a speedy recovery.
