milliondollarchamp Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/05/15/the-ga...-movie-trailer/ you can see the Trailer on this webpage...It's alright The movie follows an NFL quarterback living the bachelor lifestyle who discovers that he has a 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick. Yes, this is the movie where The Rock sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon injury which forced the studio to postpone production for a few months. Although no official release date has been announced, we expect this one to hit theaters sometime during the 2007 football season. Thoughts on the Trailer?
Vanhalen Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Not my sort of film but he did look good in it, although a trailer can make anyone look good. It is cool that he is now considered an actor and not a wrestler in a film.
Craig Th Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 He needs to drop "The Rock" and just go by Rock Johnson because Dwayne Johnson is a HORRRRRRIBLE name. EDIT: Well, Rock Johnson does sound like a porn name.
bob_barron Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Rock Johnson would be awful. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is fine
foleyfanforever88 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Also not my kind of movie, but I'll probably see it anyways because I like the Rock as an actor.
Man Who Sold The World Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 ANOTHER football movie. Oh joy.
The Niggardly King Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 This looks like one of the Disney sports movies that bomb.
UZI Suicide Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I can't lie, I laughed a couple of times during the trailer. I'll probably see it when it comes out.
luke-o Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Yeah, that trailer actually looked pretty good.
Ripper Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I'll go see it. Even though we all pretty much know how its going to end.
JohnnyBlaze Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 bump* We just agreed to go see this movie with my niece. I think The Rock's charisma will make it worthwhile. I was looking for videos about the movie and found a cool one about him being a huge Elvis fan and that influencing his character. Watching that reminds why I used to root for him even when he was a bad guy making fun of Joe Paterno at RAW at Penn State.
2GOLD Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I'll go see it. Even though we all pretty much know how its going to end. He confirmed on Jim Rome that yes, it's a typical Disney film with a happy ending. His only mistake was saying all Disney films have a happy ending. I really don't think you can consider the ending to Old Yeller happy. Well, unless you hated the dog. After this, he has Witch Mountain, Get Smart and finally Spy Hunter. Sadly, Spy Hunter is directed by Paul Anderson so it could be good or a disaster. Anderson is either very hit or miss by miles, hopefully he doesn't miss with that one. And for the wrestling fans, Dwayne has made it clear he doesn't want to come back to wrestle. He's done, he has quietly retired and he has moved on from that point in his life.

AndrewTS Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 After this, he has Witch Mountain, Get Smart and finally Spy Hunter. Sadly, Spy Hunter is directed by Paul Anderson so it could be good or a disaster. Since when has PWS Anderson made anything good? Are you mistaking him for another Paul Anderson? WS is the one who makes primarily video game movies, writes or directs vehicles for his girlfriend, and pissed AVP's potential down his leg.

I actually enjoyed Soldier, Event Horizon and Mortal Kombat. The rest of his work, not so much.
AndrewTS Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I would saw those could be *charitably* called "competent*, but miles away from "good." To each his own.

The girl shows up at his door claiming to be his daughter and he bonds with her. We all know full well the entire plot of the movie. But like I said...I will still go and see it.

It is a very point A to point B plot indeed. But I agree, I'm kinda warming up to seeing the film with each trailer. It looks like a nice cute family film.

THe first Resident Evil movie was good. It had nothing to do with the game really, but fuck that noise, it was good.
MrRant Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 What is this about Witch Mountain? Are they attempting to remake Escape to Witch Mountain? If so, road trip to beat Hollywood.
ChrisMWaters Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Mr. Rant: Shouldn't it be 'Road Trip To Beat Disney Corporation'? And after seeing the trailer...I'm curious to see how well the "Get Smart" movie could be. It could be a bomb...or it could be the comedic equivilent to how the "Mission: Impossible" movies did.
Vern Gagne Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I'll go see it. Even though we all pretty much know how its going to end. Don't forget Joe Kingman winning the Super Bowl, and marrying Roselyn Sanchez's character at the end of the movie.
Ripper Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Actually he won't win because he needs to prove that winning isn't the most importnant thing to him. The girl is.
CBright7831 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 The Rock's at a point where he needs another big movie. The last movie of his to do well at the box office was The Rundown if I'm not mistaken. Walking Tall, Be Cool, Doom, and Gridiron Gang weren't exactly smash hits.
Hoff Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 I thought Gridiron Gang was pretty well received, though, so that's something. As long as he keeps getting strong reviews of his work, he'll find a place in Hollywood. It would be great to see him get that one big role, though.
The Niggardly King Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Yeah, Gridiron Gang was a necessary role for him. It showed growth for him and pretty much well reviewed.
Scroby Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 I'm kinda intrested in seeing this movie as it seems Rock is going to be pretty much himself in the movie. That kinda sells me on the movie.
k thx Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 What's the latest on Southland Tales (I think that was its name). Wasn't he in that?
