Hawk 34 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 What's the latest on Southland Tales (I think that was its name). Wasn't he in that? It comes out in early november against Lions for Lambs (Cruise movie).
Lil' Bitch Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 This is basically the Rock's version of Vin Diesel's Pacifier.
bobobrazil1984 Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 you know its too bad The Rock isn't better at picking scripts, he really has such good charisma and is a natural on screen.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Well let's be honest here. I doubt the Rock is getting looks for the heavy hitters. This is probably the best he gets offered.
Ripper Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 This is basically the Rock's version of Vin Diesel's Pacifier. Except that the Rock is a better actor and has alot more charisma. And this movie doesn't look like shit. It looks like a fun family movie. You know what I think the world is ready for? Mindless action flicks. Just over the top, stuff blowing up, that was fucking impossible, rated R action flicks like the 80's and 90's gave us. And the Rock is the perfect lead for those movies.
JohnnyBlaze Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Agreed. The plot is good family fair and watching The Rock being The Rock will be what I look forward to.
Black Lushus Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 You know what I think the world is ready for? Mindless action flicks. Just over the top, stuff blowing up, that was fucking impossible, rated R action flicks like the 80's and 90's gave us. And the Rock is the perfect lead for those movies. amen brotha...I'm still entertained by shit like Commando, Tango & Cash, Running Man, etc.
ChrisMWaters Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 You know what I think the world is ready for? Mindless action flicks. Just over the top, stuff blowing up, that was fucking impossible, rated R action flicks like the 80's and 90's gave us. And the Rock is the perfect lead for those movies. Yeah, probably true. The closest thing we've gotten thus far in the past 3 years came from another wrestler...and it bombed.
Ripper Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Yeah, but that was Stone Cold. He doesn't have the look of Hollywood hero. Villan maybe. But the fact he Can't act doesn't help either. Plus there was alot more wrong with that movie.
bob_barron Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 You know what I think the world is ready for? Mindless action flicks. Just over the top, stuff blowing up, that was fucking impossible, rated R action flicks like the 80's and 90's gave us. And the Rock is the perfect lead for those movies. It's not though. Movies of that genre have all bombed recently
ChrisMWaters Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Yeah, but that was Stone Cold. He doesn't have the look of Hollywood hero. Villan maybe. But the fact he Can't act doesn't help either. Plus there was alot more wrong with that movie. I was talking about "The Marine"
Black Lushus Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 I think america has evolved to the "smart action thrillers" such as the Bourne movies.
ANKLELOCK Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Then your wrong, cause "The Marine" certainly didn't bomb.
The Niggardly King Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 I think america has evolved to the "smart action thrillers" such as the Bourne movies. HE BEATS THE SHIT OUTTA OF SOMEONE WITH A ROLLED UP MAGAZINE AND OUTSMARTS THE WHOLE CIA WITH GOOGLE SEARCH!
bob_barron Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 It didn't bomb when you factor in the budget of course, but it only made 18 million dollars
MrRant Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 I think america has evolved to the "smart action thrillers" such as the Bourne movies. Just throw some sci-fi in there and you're good.
AndrewTS Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 This is basically the Rock's version of Vin Diesel's Pacifier. Except that the Rock is a better actor and has alot more charisma. And this movie doesn't look like shit. It looks like a fun family movie. Well, Pacifier made a ton of money, regardless... You know what I think the world is ready for? Mindless action flicks. Just over the top, stuff blowing up, that was fucking impossible, rated R action flicks like the 80's and 90's gave us. And the Rock is the perfect lead for those movies. While it's hardly likely to usher in a bunch of 'em, look forward to the new Rambo. Even with the stupid title.
