ECW: 5/15

Recommended Posts

Less than a week before his title defense against Bobby Lashley at Judgment Day, ECW World Champion Mr. McMahon will stack the deck against his challenger. Last week, the Chairman looked like he was sending a message to Lashley when he, with the help of Shane McMahon and Umaga, crushed Rob Van Dam in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match. Last night on Raw, he outsmarted Lashley when he violated his own no-touch rule. (For several weeks, Lashley was not allowed to touch Mr. McMahon, his son Shane or Umaga unless he was physically provoked. If he did, he would lose his title rematch.) Ultimately, Lashley was left in a heap on Raw after a sneak attack and blow to the head with the ECW World Title by Mr. McMahon.

This week, in a prelude to the 3-on-1 Handicap Rematch for the ECW World Title at Judgment Day, Mr. McMahon has ordered Lashley to face all three members of the New Breed – Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von, and Matt Striker – in a Handicap Match. Will Lashley be able the overcome these odds with his title rematch just days away? Or will the New Breed leave the courageous former Army sergeant weakened and easy pickings for the Chairman-Champion and his vultures? Find out on ECW on Sci Fi.

Last week, it also looked like Mr. McMahon had succeeded in destroying the spirit of the original ECW when he, his son Shane and Umaga, bulldozed RVD. Will RVD be able to rebound when he faces the monstrous Snitsky?

Elijah Burke gained some revenge on CM Punk when he cost the Straightedge Superstar his match against Marcus Cor Von and helped damage his ribs. What will be the latest round of one-upmanship between two of ECW’s brightest young stars as their encounter at Judgment Day approaches?

Find out the answers to these pressing questions and more on ECW on Sci Fi Tuesday at 10/9 CT

Well, so RVD wins, technically.

The announcers don't do a good job getting across the point of Snitsky, probably becuase there really isn't one.

I feel like we're right back to where we were with CM Punk back before the New Breed/Originals feud took place.

Meh.

I hope this segment can change my mind.

I find it funny they didn't even bother to try to put up the ECW entrance tonight.

they can't cause they're using the ramp for the smackdown tapings...

Actually...i can't rememeber the last time SmackDown! had a ramp...

I know Sabu being released affected the writing here, but what is with the total non push for CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke at the PPV? I said a couple of weeks ago that they had blown it with this storyline once Punk simply attacked Burke and they just had Burke send New Breed guys after him. I don't blame Dusty and Lagana for this since I think Vince and Co. are tampering with the booking so much that it's not getting over.

What's goofy is the main reason to rush through this Punk/New Breed storyline (skipping from points A, B, C, and then to Y and Z) is due to them wanting Punk vs. Burke at this PPV. And then they rush to do this match and then don't bother to promote it.

As far as RVD/Snitsky goes, I wish they had just jobbed RVD tonight. Cause I really, really don't want Van Dam's last ECW/WWE match to be a PPV squash vs. Snitsky.

Was anyone else suprised by the quality of Punk vs Richards? Given the time they had, they pulled off something pretty good.

Hell, they've wrestled each other enough times. Is that match four or five?? ECW is in desperate need of talent infusion.

The idea that's been floating around of an ECW Tag Team belt would also suck. If ECW needs a secondary belt, it has to be the TV title, as at least there's just enough mid-carders to supprt it. There's only one proper team and a couple of stable's (both of which are gradually disintegrating) to compete in the tag team division.

But ECW has the Majors Brothers...

Any they were going to have Nunzio and Vito before Vito was canned. However Stevie Richards might pick up a developmental and form a tag team. We'll probably get Sandman and Dreamer as "The Originals" too. Helluva division right there. I guess Burke and CorVon could make a pretty good tandem, as could Punk and a developmental partner of choice.

ECW is never going to build up a viable contender for the ECW title outside of Lashley the way things are booked now. At least if you had a secondary title, said wrestler could eventually go after the world title on the brand.

Isn't Colt Cabana in OVW? There's Punk's partner.
