Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 The Milwaukee Bears beat the Kansas City Monarchs last night to take the series. That's 9 of their last 10, folks.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Dustin McGowan lost a no-hitter in the 9th against Colorado. Only two baserunners allowed for the entire game. Jays are finally back to .500.

World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Toronto's Dustin McGowan throws 8 innings of no hit baseball and gives up a hit to a bum in the 9th Toronto pitchers have the worst luck with that stuff. Dave Stieb had his infamous 8 2/3 IP no hitter, Halladay did the same to the Tigers back in 1998 I think, Shaun Marcum had a no hitter through 6 earlier this year before getting pulled, only to throw another 4 innings of no hit ball in his next start. You mean 8 2/3? He did that in consecutive starts in 1988. He had 2 strikes on both batters that got hits, too.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Oops, fixed. At least Stieb got his no-no eventually. That would be too cruel if he didn't.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 What the shit's happening at the Cell? That whole play was just....weird. I'm not sure how they got bases loaded no outs; it seemed at best that Pagan would be forced and it would be second and third with one out.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 so supposedly Mark Buehrle is almost a Red Sox. Don't know how I feel about that one.

I'm not sure how they got bases loaded no outs; it seemed at best that Pagan would be forced and it would be second and third with one out. Uribe standing directly in Pagan's path wiped out everything that happened after that. Thank goodness, too, because it was like a little league game once the collision happened. But in true Cub form, Pagan STILL got caught in a rundown that counted on the next play.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Ah....ok, I walked in after the play happened and only saw the argument so I was lost. About Buehrle: Do the Red Sox need more pitching, or are they just doing that so the Yankees don't trade for him?
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 blocking the Yankees along with probably trying to solidify their rotation further. Schilling probably won't be back and Wakefield won't last forever.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Ok you know what? It doesn't matter who the White Sox gets for Mark Buehrle, wherever he goes, if they trade him, I'm done. In the past few years Buehrle and Thomas carried the White Sox. After Frank left, all I had was Buehrle. If he's gone, I have no real reason to root for the White Sox anymore beyond the "hometown" thing, which isn't even true anymore now that I've been a San Diego resident for the past 5 years. Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 24, 2007 blocking the Yankees along with probably trying to solidify their rotation further. Schilling probably won't be back and Wakefield won't last forever. Is there a concern that Wakefield will be out for the year? Because Mark Buehrle is going to the Cardinals next year. Worst-kept secret in baseball. TRADE HIM TO DA PHILLIES FOR AIRN ROWAND SO DEY CAN GET DA FIRE AND DA PASSION BACK EDIT: don't look now but the White Sox have the tying run up in the bottom of the 9th. The South Side fans are long gone. Of course, it wouldn't be this easy to sweep at Comiskey, would it.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 I think the deal would be contingent on a contract extension. Supposedly they're willing to give him his 5 year deal. Edit: And I meant Schilling probably won't be back next year and Wakefield is getting older. If your 08 rotation is Beckett, Buehrle, Dice-K, Lester, and Bucholz then you're in pretty good shape. Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 24, 2007 I find it hard to believe he doesn't go to St. Louis, though, really. I'll believe it when I see it. Speaking of believing it when I see it, the Cubs swept at Comiskey for the first time ever, Chicago's fashionable north side takes the Crosstown Classic for the first time in god-knows-when, two runs for the Sox all weekend, and the Brewers are about to lose right now to bring the Cubs a game closer. However, since it's highly unlikely we catch Milwaukee, this was probably my World Series, unfortunately. I'm gonna go celebrate with an Italian beef sammich and a bottle of Green River. woo cubbies
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 if doesn't want to ink an extension then he probably won't be traded to Boston. However the Red Sox seem to be the front runner in aquiring him with the prospects they have. If he chooses to not sign an extension so he can go to St. Louis then he probably isn't traded and the White Sox end up with two first round picks.
Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 24, 2007 There'd be no shame in taking him as a rental, though. I'm sure Iguchi and Dye are also on the block, too. Possibly Jim Thome, but I don't know. The White Sox' payroll is above $100 million, and I'm sure Reinsdorf will be calling for a fire sale quite soon.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Dye is on the block obviously from all the ESPN coverage on the White Sox being the big fire sale team this year.
Guest George's Box Report post Posted June 24, 2007 It's weird how poorly this year has gone for the White Sox. The Danks/Masset-McCarthy trade was a win, and the Garcia-Floyd trade was a push, so it's not like those were the downfall of the team as some had expected. It's mostly been the bullpen being awful: one guy even got DFAed because he couldn't pitch back-to-back games. With Thome, Konerko, Dye, and the rotation, there was no reason for them being this bad. The Garcia trade was a win for the Sox because Garcia's likely out until his contract expires. Gio Gonzalez is the real prize of that deal and he's pitching well in AA.
