EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I visited Yankee Stadium for the first time on Sunday. It was a reasonably good experience. That said, they can tear down that dump and the only thing better than a new stadium would be getting it entirely out of the Bronx. Goddamn New York City is a nuthouse. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Bobby Abreu hit an upper deck HR that landed in the middle of the upper deck to help the Yankees win 5-1. Clemens gets his 350th win, allowing only 2 hits.
Longdogger_Pete 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Red Sox win 7-3 with help from a 3-run triple from Eric Hinske. Jacoby Ellsbury continues to impress with his speed, notching his first career stolen base and then advancing two bases on a wild pitch to score the first run for Boston. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 And A-Rod heads to the 15 day DL with a hamstring, after colliding with Justin Morneau at first. "His hamstring just isn't clutch." Damian Miller, Brewers catcher, had a monster night last night. He had 7 RBIS, including two homers, one of which was a grand slam. Nice when your backup catcher is able to produce like that. Granted it was against the Pirates, but he tied a franchise record with that.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 2 home runs for Vernon Wells last night as the Blue Jays snapped a four-game losing streak. Maybe we'll finally get to see the Vernon Wells they paid $126 million for.
Steve J. Rogers 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 And A-Rod heads to the 15 day DL with a hamstring, after colliding with Justin Morneau at first. Nope, he is very much in today's lineup and is starting at 3rd. BY GAWD WHAT AN INSPIRATIONAL MOMENT FOR THE NEW YORK YANKEES! ALEX RODRIGUEZ IS COMING BACK AND PLAYING ONE DAY AFTER A HORRIFIC HAMSTRING INJURY! WHAT A HOSS! Sorry, just had to go into Jim Ross mode there, was thinking of Suzyn Waldman, but hey this is a wrestling board! I guess it wasn't as bad as it was feared then, though I would have made ARod sit out at least through the weekend to be on the safe side but hey, I'm not a big league trainer and the Yanks actually have one of the best in Gene Monahan. Steve J. Rogers 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Oliver Perez though, is heading to the DL Jason Vargas is up and is in Colorado tonight! Well, hopefully I will not be doing that tonight (looking right AT you Tommy Boy, or as members of another board would say, Tammy Tampax)
Steve J. Rogers 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Speaking of back injuries, Randy Johnson is going on for the second time this year. Nice, the centerpiece of my freaking fantasy team goes back on the DL. All because I paid too much attention to a dopey NYC radio host blather about how he was still very much a "CY Young Contender" in each of his Yankee seasons and how that would translate (based on Clemens' 04 and 05) into a Vintage Big Unit season when he returned to the NL this year. Hell I even thought there was a GREAT shot of Johnson getting his 300th win this season as he had exactly 20 more to go before the season started. To quote Kurt Angle, "Flipping great." Well he was my first pitcher chosen, and I pretty much forgot to add a pen after drafting a couple of middle relievers. I do have a kicking offense though. Essentially I'm the (insert your favorite late 90s early 00s team that went heavy into offense but not so much with the pitching) of that league.
mike546 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 After destroying AAA, the Yanks finally brought up Edwar Ramierz and he definitley showed something as he struck out all three batters he faced to finish the game. I know it's one appearance but hopefully this guy keeps it up, he was nuts at AAA. he made cuddyer, morneau, and ford look silly.

I know it's one appearance but hopefully this guy keeps it up, he was nuts at AAA. he made cuddyer, morneau, and ford look silly. I only got to see Ramirez pitch once. He faced four batters and struck out three of them. He threw 16 pitches, 11 for strikes. His stats in AAA aren't just good, they're ridiculous.

Well, hopefully I will not be doing that tonight (looking right AT you Tommy Boy, or as members of another board would say, Tammy Tampax) Note to self, maybe I should stop playing with Karma in such a way with my favorite ball club. 11-3 in the 8th, Vargas' line IP H R ER BB K HR Season ERA J. Vargas 3.1 11 9 9 2 2 2 12.19 Dear me, I thought with the humidor at Coors the effect would change for both teams, not just the Rockies? Or are incoming staffs all acting like nothing has changed? vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 The first base ump totally blew a call in the 9th inning of the 'Stros/Phils game. Bases loaded and Carlos Lee grounded to short and it totally shoulda been a double play. Howard beat Lee to the bag by at least a step. Somewhere, Don Denkinger is smiling. And I just realized that Dice-K didn't make the All-Star team. Hrmph!

The bigger question is why Jose Mesa is still pitching meaningful games for this team.
