Bored Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 If anyone feels that the All-Star Game or, God help us, the Homerun Derby deserves their own thread be my guest but otherwise I think the regular weekly thread will work fine. Playoff match-ups at the break: Indians/Red Sox Angels/Tigers Dodgers/Brewers Mets/Padres ESPN & FOX Games to Poison Our Youth TUESDAY American League at National League, 8:25/5:25 PM, FOX SATURDAY Cardinals (Adam Wainwright) at Phillies (Kyle Kendrick), 3:55/12:55 PM, FOX Astros (Roy Oswalt) at Cubs (Rich HIll), 3:55/12:55 PM, FOX Dodgers (Brad Penny) at Giants (Matt Morris), 3:55/12:55 PM, FOX SUNDAY Cardinals at Phillies, 6:00/3:00 PM, ESPN
Mik Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Miguel Cabrera pulled out of the HR derby. His shoulder is injured. Word is still coming in if an errant trip to the refrigerator was involved, somehow.
Failed Bridge Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Manny suddenly came down with the flu so I imagine he'll be pulling himself out of the game.
Mik Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 I was mildly pissed after Hanley didn't make the All-Star team, but did you know that he's currently 3rd in the entire MLB (behind A-Rod and Magglio Ordonez only) in VORP at 45.1. I'm hoping that Miggy pulls out of the AS game so that Hanley can rightfully go.
Brett Favre Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Lineups: AL: Ichiro Suzuki Derek Jeter David Ortiz Alex Rodriguez Vladimir Guerrero Magglio Ordonez Pudge Rodriguez Placido Polanco Dan Haren NL: Jose Reyes Barry Bonds Carlos Beltran Ken Griffey Jr. David Wright Prince Fielder Russell Martin Chase Utley Jake Peavy
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I just remembered how much I hate Chris Berman.
Guest Smues Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I think this'll be the first derby I've missed in a long time, and I'm glad for it. Missing my annual Berman head-ache is a good thing, plus not having to deal with Kenny Mayne. Yay.
Hawk 34 Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Kenny Mayne in the Cove, FTW That's a fuck you to FOX.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Erin Andrews is either freakishly tall or standing on a box. This has my attention until 9. Then it's Larry King, then Raw (or maybe this depending on if Howard is still hitting).
Vampiro69 Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Dusty Baker is reminding the world why he is an absolute moron.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Why do I have my doubts that the Bronx is Burning will air at 10pm as planned?
KingPK Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 (edited) An announce team of Chris Berman, Dusty Baker and Joe Morgan. Wow.... Oh and shut the fuck up, Barry. Edited July 10, 2007 by KingPK
Vampiro69 Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Who are the celebs for the softball game? Ross the Intern and Casey Affleck?
geniusMoment Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Worst home run derby in a long time. That's what you get when you're playing in the hardest park to hit home runs in, and Griffey, Bonds, A-Rod and Dunn aren't in it.
Brett Favre Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Funny moment with Big Papi. With sunglasses and all gets a phone call and gets a new bat for Guerrero after he got 3 outs. He's hit 4 HRs since. I hope Guerrero makes it far so we get to see Big Papi coach him.
geniusMoment Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 God, this sucks. Next year use aluminium bats.
Brett Favre Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Rios just hit like 12 and Holliday hit 8 before him.
Fartsauce Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 It's nice to see a Blue Jay do well in this for once. Remember Glaus?
Brett Favre Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Guerrero beastin. He eliminates Holliday with a 9 HR performance, and 14 total.
Boon Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Congrats to Vlad, but it's important to remember what this All-Star break is really all about- the NL blows.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Great stuff from Kenny Mayne. "Attention San Franciscans. Batting first, and playing left, Rickey Henderson!......Henderson. I have no idea who's batting second."
2GOLD Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 As bad as Dusty, Joe and Boomer were. Nothing and I mean NOTHING on Earth is as bad as Steve Phillips, John Kruk and Carl SHUTTHEHELLUP.
Boon Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Jim Leyland just said baseball is booming outside of Boston and New York.... I don't get it.
treble Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Jeannie Zylasko is a lot hotter as a Simpsons character.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Jim Leyland just said baseball is booming outside of Boston and New York.... I don't get it. Record attendance at both the major and minor league level.
