Boon 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Going on one in a while. Never actually been on one. Any ideas about what to bring/what not to bring? I'm thinking some combination of sandwiches/salads, but also trying to impress. Suggestions? Stories?
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Well, don't do it on the beach but that's sort of a given. Sand finds its way into everything. I think potato salad is a good option.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Whom are you trying to impress? And with KingKamala's suggestion, it seems to me this is going to pop up like it were 'Armbar' in Chris Jericho's list:"Show me potato salad!"
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted July 23, 2007 In a date kind of atmosphere like this, alcohol is the most important thing to pack. Whatever she'll drink. Cold beer or some kind of mixed fucker. Bottle of wine if you're european.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Egg salad, my favorite.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 You can't go wrong with any kind of salad except for actual salad at a picnic. Ham Salad Chicken Salad Potato Salad Egg Salad Pasta Salad I could probably go on and on.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Assuming it is a date-like atmosphere, fondue might not be a bad idea, though it's a fair amount to prepare. Salad of any kind, as eluded to, is a great pick, especially potato salad. Try a small platter of carrots, green peppers, and dip. Champagne is pretty safe. If it's not a date, I got a flyer from the Beer Store a few months ago that suggested "Ribs and beer - you've got yourself a picnic".
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Be weary of packing any mayonnaise-based salad to a picnic during the warm summer months.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 While it has no relevance, because it actually is a fine picnic choice, I feel I should point out that I do not care for egg salad. Or any salad, besides shrimp salad, and regular salad. When I said that I was referencing the movie Big Top Pee Wee. Also, while I'm not going to transcribe it, the liner notes to Insane Clown Posse's Tunnel of Love EP contain a very insightful story about how it's not a good idea to fuck outside. So, while a picnic is romantic, make sure to take the girl home before you get to business.
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2007 Pasta salad. Really an underrated food. Especially a tortelini based pasta salad. Delicious.

Guest • Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Oh God, I hate potato salad so much. Absolutely disgusting. I'd advise making some nice sandwiches and cream soda.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Though it'll take time to prepair, a nice little Antipasto dish is fine to have. Cheese dish is okay with some crackers and some assorted jams. Salad is fine. Devil Eggs. You can make those, you are in the sack. Unless she likes beer, do not bring it. Wine or chilled non alcoholic drinks are acceptable. Nacho chips with salsa and our sour cream is good.

People ostracize me because I refuse to eat it, this is typically how it goes. "My Potato Salad is good though!" "No, I don't like it." "Try it." "Fine." "So?" "I still don't like Potato Salad." Anti-pasto is a good shot, or even Macaroni. A tip from the TV thing that plays over and over and over at my work, freeze bottled water to keep everything cold, and then you can drink the water to keep hydrated.
