The new host of the Price is Right is...

Recommended Posts

Well, the good news is that he's not a Bob Barker clone, or Rosie. The bad news is this could be a train wreck along the lines of having Rikki Lake hosting Game Show Marathon.

Could of been worse it could of been Wayne Brady who isn't any good on the new karaoke game show on ABC.

A: Wayne Brady is god.

B: Who would be any good on that god awful show. They should have gotten JC Chavez.

Dan Patrick would've been perfect, but with Drew Carey it's a wait and see.

Are you kidding me?

<5 second pause>

Dan Patrick

<5 second pause>

would've caused the show

<5 second pause>

to be 10 hours

<5 second pause>

instead of one

<5 second pause>

Dan is quite possibly

<5 second pause>

the worst host

<5 second pause>

on ESPN Radio.

<10 second pause>

And yes, that DOES include Cowherd.

Joey the Fat one is the man on The Singing Bee but then again NBC has better production values. Drew Carey might work since he is perceived to be the "common man".

So you're not old enough to witness the greatness that was the afternoon game show during its glory years? Well let tell you something ya young wippersnapper back in the day all of the networks had game shows on instead of talk shows in the prised time slot between the daily soap and the evening news. Bob Barker was on CBS forever nearly 30 years its kind of hard not to watch The Price is Right, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Press Your Luck on a boring week day.

Price is Right was great cause somebody would always underbid by saying $1 and never advance to the main game to play classics like PLINKO. And how can not love it when the announcer yells "A BRAND NEW CAR!" or at the end when they are doing the showcase showdown somebody overbids on the bedroom suite and the other person gets a trip to Italy, a pair of scooters, and a camper even though they underbid by $10,000!

This man would have to disagree with Drew Carey being perceived as "The Common Man".

Hell, somebody should give Dusty a game show. I'd watch it.

Give Dusty a pair of plastic rim glasses and he could be Drew Carey!

FUCK! I was hoping it would be John O'Hurley or George Hamilton instead. Oh well.

He fought in the Royal Rumble and didn't get killed by Kane so he's earned it!

I was reading about this on another forum. There was heavy suspicion that the guy was cheating somehow, but they couldn't prove it. There was actually a 45-minute delay between the time they introduced the showcases and the time they revealed who won while they looked into what was going on, so I'm sure that sapped a lot of the buzz over his perfect bid. The guy also had a perfect bid on his prize on contestants' row.

My guess is that somebody in the crowd sneaked in an iPhone or something and was looking up MSRPs. I wish he would've had to bid on the other showcase, which was like 4 trips. There's no way in hell he could've scammed that with somebody in the crowd.

The real shame is that the woman he beat, who DID have to bid on the trips, ended up being less than $500 off on her bid. 99 percent of the time, she'd have won in a landslide.

I figure the guy wasn't scamming.

Is it impossible he was lucky? No.

However... someone smart enough to scam and not get caught, seems like he wouldn't also be stupid enough to pretend to guess the exact price twice in the same show... or even once. Just get within a few dollars of it.

Then again, his reaction to winning seems awfully phony.

Has anyone else gone to the Price is Right Live in Las Vegas? It's hosted by the guy who hosted Supermarket Sweep and the announcer is the announcer from Supermarket Sweep as well. I went on Saturday and it was pretty fun. I didn't get selected, but it was fun to watch other people fuck up and cost themselves money and prizes.

I read about this elsewhere. It seems that there are some losers out there who watch and track the Price enough to know the value of items they put up for bid. One was in the audience and shouted out the answer, which is why the producers tried to figure out if rules were violated.

It's not cheating if the reason this obsessive was able to learn all the prize packages is because the producers keep recycling the packages. Now granted, it's a daily program that's been on for years and years, so on one hand it's easy to see how things might get reused, and after all there is but a finite amount of household items you can use in pricing games, but on the other hand, Press Your Luck demonstrated what happens when you cut corners on a program watched nearly exclusively by people who by virtue of its 10 a.m. timeslot have nothing important to do. Everything's fine here.

As for iPhones and any other communications devices, you shouldn't be allowed to bring them in, plain+simple.

That and the fact that people are always looking to the audience for help and it's always been supported.
