Guest Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Juan Pierre is hitting better than the rest of my favorite team. Oh well, wait till next year. It is going to take a miracle to fix the hitting on this team.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Scoring two runs over 14 innings against Woody Williams and Wandy Rodriguez is embarrassing. Let's hope this anemic offense gets it together, because the Brewers aren't going to keep losing.
mike546 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Joba's debut - 2 IP, 1 H, 2 Ks, 2 Bs. He has a really nasty slider, hitters could not lay off. He hits 96-98 pretty damn easy, but he wasn't locating his fastball very well. Nice performance.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Quick, someone add to the reasons ESPN sucks thread, citing lack of coverage of their favorite team. The Rockies save the Cubs (again) from falling further back of the Brewers.

UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I wonder how much they had to pay Hank Aaron to get him to record that. What a sham.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Hank Aaron is a classy person. Little surprise there. Despite all the controversy, this is a legitimately incredible achievement.

Guest Smues Report post Posted August 8, 2007 So he hit 756 huh? Boo-urns. We'll see how long I can go without ever seeing it. I'll guess until I start recording PTI again in a few weeks. Maybe sooner. Edit: Wait the Braves are on ESPN on Sunday? Fuck I guess I'll be forced to watch it then. Oh well.

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Mike Bascik-future answer to sports trivia questions. The fan that caught the ball was wearing a Mets' jersey. For such a crummy individual, Barry's got one of the cutest little girls I've seen recently; I bet she's spoiled as all get out. Oh well, Ryan Braun only needs 736 more. Bored 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I was really hoping he'd break the record on a FOX telecast then that way ESPN would act like it never happened. For someone who didn't see it live, who for ESPN made the call? Please say it wasn't Berman. Someone now needs to break the single season record. Having the same player hold both records is Boring. Coldest game I ever attended was April 25, 2005, Red Barons against the Syracuse Chiefs in 45 degree weather. Bacsik started for the Barons against Francisco Rosario. Bacsik got us through the game in 1:56, a 4-1 victory. Also the fastest game I've ever been to. I've been a fan ever since.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Was it Sutcliffe calling the game? I hate Bonds, but I feel a little better about 756 after Aaron's message. Aaron's one of my favourites, and it was an honour to meet him in June. And if you're going to do it, might as well rape the ball like he did
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I remember his debut, actually, against the marlins. pretty sure he went 7 innings for a win. Never really panned out.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 756 should have been a special once in a life time moment and I literally felt nothing when it happened. And I actually like Bonds, more than most people anyway, but really, this record doesn't mean shit. Barry's unique talents and consistent performance in the face of so much pressure and scrutiny, that's memorable to me, but celebrating this moment is so hollow. tominator89 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 The fan should trade the ball for an autographed copy of Game of Shadows.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Well it was surreal moment for me and I don't even give a shit about baseball. I just freakishly happened to turn to the channel right before it happened. We are talking about what could be a once in a lifetime moment there and the fact that he might have taken something back when it wasn't against the rules for him to take it didn't take away from that for me. Guest Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I had no desire to watch it, and I didn't watch any of his AB's at Dodger Stadium when I went last week. I'm glad it's over, now get out of the game for good. At least his team's bad enough that I won't need to watch a single game of his (outside of Dodger games) for the rest of his career.
phoenixrising 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 I believe it was Dave O'Brien and Sutcliffe calling the game. Congrats, Barry. I'm not really excited over it. I was watching more to say I saw it than being excited over it. At least he did it in the one place where he would be cheered. Barry is also 83 hits away from 3,000 - does he play one more year? So who's hotter, Glavine's wife or Bonds' daughter?
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Yankees are within 5 games. Kudos to Terry Ryan for wasting 4 million dollars on Ramon Ortiz and Sidney Ponson before the season.
Guest Hasbeen2 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 Yah, we need more Yankee talk, Lol. I missed it, I was at a middle school park for a late practice while it was going on. I don't feel as if I missed anything especially since I'll see it thousands of times over the next few years. I just don't pay that much attention to individual numbers unless it's something like that where you hear it so often you can't help but know about it. I want to know which team wins, that's what I'll remember, not who was 5-5 even though their team lost 10-9.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2007 (edited) Boston can't produce in the late innings to save their lives this season. In the so-called "Close and late" split, they rank dead last in the AL (worse than even the Royals!) with just 63 runs and I can count the number of times they've rallied on one hand. The thing is, they ARE hitting and getting on base, but they can't push the damn runs in. Hope the fans that said "It isn't fun when the Yankees aren't in it" are enjoying themselves now.
