Paul Stanley Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 By Ray Waddell Tue Aug 7, 5:39 AM ET NASHVILLE (Billboard) - Van Halen will announce a 50-date American reunion tour with original singer David Lee Roth during a news conference in Hollywood next week, sources said. ADVERTISEMENT The arena trek will begin in early October. Roth, who split from the rock group in the mid-1980s in hopes of solo stardom, will reunite with co-founders Eddie Van Halen on guitar and brother Alex Van Halen on drums. Eddie's teenage son Wolfgang will sub for Michael Anthony on bass. A proposed summer amphitheater tour by the group never got off the ground, with Eddie Van Halen entering a rehabilitation facility for undisclosed reasons in March. In the months since, the guitarist has been seen publicly looking healthy and fit. Van Halen last toured in 2004, with Roth's replacement, vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore. Reuters/Billboard
Cheech Tremendous Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Eh, it's about ten years too late. That being said, I'll still go see them.
Darthtiki Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Like a GnR tour I won't believe it until I leave the venue after the show.
vivalaultra Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 David Lee Roth? Pfft...like that'll sell tickets. Wake me up when they get Gary Cherone back.
BUTT Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I wish I had gone to the Van Hagar reunion tour of '04. I think I will miss this one.
Vanhalen Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 All I can say is, its about fucking time woot
Slayer Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Hasn't this come up nearly every other year for the last decade?
2GOLD Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Hasn't this come up nearly every other year for the last decade? Yup, then they all get into a hissy fit fight about a month later and claim it'll never happen. This story is a rinse and repeat and right on schedule. The band that cried wolf I swear.
Nighthawk Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Like a GnR tour I won't believe it until I leave the venue after the show. GnR are a fairly reliable act recently.

True, since Axl's resurgence last year they've been rock solid apparently. Van Halen and all involved need to bite the bullet and just do a tour with both David Lee Roth and Sammy Haggar. I didn't go to the tour with Haggar a couple years ago but I might try and catch this one if it comes to a city near me since EVH is sober and less sketchy these days (though I'm not sure if that makes him a better player). It's still wierd that his teenage son is playing bass, though that was a pre-rehab choice so maybe it'll change.
Sideburnious Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I'll fly over to see this. It's a shame about Michael Anthony being out though. Hopefully VH's son will go start his own band or have no interest or something.
tominator89 Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Some dates have been added: http://www.van-halen.com/tour.html
Dobbs 3K Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 I think I'll believe it when they're actually out on the road doing shows. I can't believe Eddie's son is the bassist now. Michael Anthony was the man.
ZGangsta Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Yeah, I'm really hoping that Eddie comes to his senses and gets Michael Anthony back. Personally, if I were EVH I wouldn't let my teenage son be able to be influenced by David Lee Roth while out on a Van Halen tour... I'm gonna get tickets for the Vancouver show I think. I hope in the time before that show that Roth doesn't act like enough of a dumbass to get kicked out and Eddie stays sober.
CheesalaIsGood Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Eh, I'm 10 years beyond giving a shit.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Michael Anthony was the worst thing about Van Halen, regardless of any non-Gary Cherone line-up.
Cheech Tremendous Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 Every time I see a new post in this thread, I expect to see that the whole thing has been called off.
UZI Suicide Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 The press conference they had the other day was great. DLR was hilarious and wouldn't shut up the entire time. I think he realized the way to stay in Eddie's good graces is to kiss Wolfgang's ass as much as possible.
Red Baron Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 I was thinking about going to the concert, but there's no way I'm paying 70 bucks for the 300 section.
cd213 Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 The press conference was gold. DLR is the man. It was great, We'll leave saving the world to Bono, we're just going to save the US...and China... I can't wait for this show. Three months and three great concerts for me, Sept. - The Cure, Oct. - Nightwish, and Nov. - VanHalen (hopefully).
Darthtiki Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 I want to go but the Staples show is the same night I have tickets to Social Distortion in Anaheim
tominator89 Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Did anyone get tickets? They went on sale today but they're almost all sold out. I'm waiting for the East Rutherford tickets to go on sale.
