vivalaultra Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 The Braves have designated Bob Wickman for assignment. I guess that makes either Octavio Dotel or Rafael Soriano the closer? Maybe that Aussie, perhaps?
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 It's raining in Detroit at it looks like a deluge. We are already an hour into the delay. A double header as part of a four game series, on the road no less, is gonna suck. No announcements yet, they're gonna wait it out.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Whiny girl Giles costs the Phillies a run. He doesn't want to get in Ruiz's face again or an ass-whooping will ensue. I loved the close-up shot of Maddux earlier in the inning when crappy Padres 3b missed the tag on Victorino. "FUCK!" Okay, the Padres 3b is probably not crappy, but he had Victorino dead to rights and just...missed him. Incredible. In other news, candy-bar eating fat kid Mike Zagurski has season ending surgery. Never liked him.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 The Temple Football Coach has come to the booth in the 5th inning of the Phillies game and brought his team's bad karma. :::3-run home run hit::: "I'll let you call that one. That's an uh-oh ball." :::solo homer hit::: "Oh man, let this stop." :::Nunez misses a ball::: "You guys better get me out of the booth."

Never liked him. What's wrong with Zagurski? I saw him in Reading, seemed like a jovial guy, thought he was the ballboy for a bit. You can't hate a kid like that. That said, I can't see how this team can possibly compete. The rotation currently consists of a 44 year old ace, a Cincinnati reject, two rookies and a contest winner.
mike546 Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 I'm not expecting Moose to get out of the 1st considering his "routine" has been messed up by THREE and a HALF hours.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 It's raining in Detroit at it looks like a deluge. We are already an hour into the delay. A double header as part of a four game series, on the road no less, is gonna suck. No announcements yet, they're gonna wait it out. Gonna be tough. I live less than an hour and a half away from Detroit and feared for my life on my drive home this afternoon.
vivalaultra Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Xavier Nady + Brad Lidge= BFF. I think Nady paid Lidge off in an effort to help pad his stats. It seems like every AB Nady has against Lidge ends up in a homerun.
mike546 Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Damn, after four hours, there are still a LOT of fans left in Detroit. Very impressive.
Guest Soriano's Torn Quad Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Looks like you're getting what we got all week, which cancelled yesterday's Red-White game and caused a doubleheader today: 11-3, 10-1. Doubleheaders have not gone well down there, huh. But anyway, Chonger, how bad is it out there? Downed power lines and trees? Flooded rivers? Even all the way up by me, a lagoon has flooded and turned an entire park into a considerably larger lagoon.
Precious Roy Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Yankees-Tigers game starting after a 4 HOUR delay. Damn. We'll be lucky if this one is done before 2am.
mike546 Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Michael Kay sure wants to go to bed. He is PISSED the game wasn't cancelled.
Precious Roy Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 the Tigers look like they spent the last 4 hours huffing pinetar
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 But anyway, Chonger, how bad is it out there? Downed power lines and trees? Flooded rivers? Even all the way up by me, a lagoon has flooded and turned an entire park into a considerably larger lagoon. It's not so bad right now, but we've had some powerful rain the last two nights. I had the windows open during the day on Wednesday because it's back up in the high 80s. This led to some interesting redecorating throughout my apartment when the rains and WIND came that night. My bed had rain on it and it's at least four feet away from what was a partially open window. Traffic lights were out near the downtown area yesterday morning, which made driving conditions real fun, since half of the motorists out there don't know what a four-way stop is. It was nice out again today, but when I left work around 4:30, it was getting crazy out. There were times I could barely see the car in front of me and driving in the far right lane would've required a paddle. I always seem to get the big pick-up trucks behind me who don't understand why I'm not going the speed limit in these conditions. During the aforementioned stretch of almost non-visibility, a pick-up truck got behind me and started flashing his brights because I was going about five under. This just reinforced my theory that the majority of truck owners are impatient assholes.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 the Tigers look like they spent the last 4 hours huffing pinetar Do you think Billy Martin will come out and use home plate to check and make sure they're using the allowed amount of pine tar?
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 The Cubs just broke out an old classic: loading the bases with no outs and not scoring. Shame too, since it took Sean Marshall out of the game, even though he'd only thrown 72 pitches through six innings. In San Fran, we've got a pitchers dual brewing. 8-6 in the Top of the 4th.
Guest Soriano's Torn Quad Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Diamondbacks are just a team of destiny, I guess. These non-descript guys are just getting all the breaks. Go get 'em, Conor. Also, hasn't Juan Cruz been 28 for like six years now?
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Juan Cruz is one of the few former Cubs of recent years I actually miss.
At Home Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Chone Figgins is a ridiculous player. He's a devilishly fast baserunner and picks up singles and shit all the times and turns them into runs on a hit and run. Not to mention Reggie Willits who has the highest percentage of singles of hits of any player in baseball. Ryan Budde is not a good catcher; I miss Molina.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Craig Monroe has an infield single to begin his Cubs career. That loads them up with no out again. Also Felix Pie has a consecutive walk streak going here (TWO!).
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 They got three out of it, so everything else is gravy. DLee still grounded into a DP, which makes four on the night for the team. It's almost like watching a game of MVP Baseball.
Spaceman Spiff Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 I was at the Phillies/Padres game. Stayed until the final out. I think I deserve some kind of medal. Seats were across the aisle from where the Pads 1st HR was hit, a few rows down. Dude in the stands made a perfect (2-handed) barehanded catch of this HR. People started a "throw it back" chant, but he handed it to what I assume was his young daughter, which pretty much ended that chant. Me & my buddy were also 2 rows in back of the "Citizens Bank 7", for those of you who watched the Philly broadcast. Also, there's this obnoxious dude who sits 4 seats over from my buddy. My buddy was saying how he has been pretty quiet lately, but he must have been storing it up for tonight. My buddy has already mentioned how his dad & others don't want to go to games because of this dude. If he wasn't bad enough, other people in the area cheer him on and/or laugh at his "hilarious" comments, which he yells pretty loudly. Anyway, he started getting on Jason Werth's case in the top of the 8th inning, so much so that Werth reacted like 5 times to the guy (which was incredibly stupid, especially in Philly), which only encouraged obnoxious dude to keep at it & really start laying it in. Bottom of the 8th rolls around, and I imagine either other spectators and/or Werth complained about the guy, because ushers came to get him. He usually attends w/ his son, who pretty much keeps quiet, and the son came back down to grab his things & mentioned how they were talking about taking away their tickets, which I hope they do, because this guy is soooooooo annoying.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Is it me or do the Pirates and Astros seem to play one incredibly long extra-innings game every year?
mike546 Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 Was that Jason Grillis first scoreless inning ever? His after inning celebration in the 7th!!! inning was like more ridiculous than K-Rod's. edit: And this Bobby Seay fellow almost tops him in the 8th!
devo Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 The Braves have designated Bob Wickman for assignment. I guess that makes either Octavio Dotel or Rafael Soriano the closer? Maybe that Aussie, perhaps? What, seriously? Unless he's injured or something, I don't understand that move. If the Braves wouldn't mind letting the Mets have him (which they almost certainly would) he'd be a hell of an upgrade over Guillermo Mota.
mike546 Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 What a kick in the balls loss. Stayed up til 3:30 for this shit. FUCK!
